Traveled to Kansas City last week to present at the Broker Carrier Summit specifically on my weight loss testimony, and why driver health is paramount. I highlight the event from my point of view, and why this has become the fastest growing event within the industry.

James Year rejoins the show along with Will Cook, the Founder of America Without Drivers, and Scott Douglas, the President of America Without Drivers.

We go back into the details about the dangers of Autonomous, and why this conversation needs to continue to happen. The technology that's coming should not really be stopped, but there has to be a better way to implement it then how it currently is.

Currently Indiana has legislation that would only allow autonomous trucks to be operated if a licensed CDL holder is within the vehicle, this legislation defeats the business models of companies like Aurora who want fully driver out capabilities. We go into details on why voters need to know, and should be more involved.

A correction to the podcast is HB1022 is a House bill in Indiana that is a co bill to SB57 in the Indiana Senate, not federal legislation.

Interstate Avocado is a driver who came on the show back in August to tell his trucking story. A soft market was getting his miles cut at one company, so he took a risk with going to drive for a carrier based in Florida owned by a Russian man named Igor. The promise of essentially unlimited miles, and a little fooling around with their ELD's was alluring, but eventually it almost broke him. He rejoins the show to tell all on the problems he has had the last few months.

Dani and I crossed paths on tiktok, she makes a lot of videos about her day to day life, especially as she has become a gosh darn professional flatbedder. A fascinating story, motivated by her uncle to start driving she jumped behind the wheel in 2020. Her story resonates with all this show stands for in regards to activism. Her first company started out rough with a few trainers but got better. Santiago Talamantez is a Marine veteran, Former Texas DPS officer working with CMV enforcement, adjunct professor at Midland College, and owner of Safety Compliance Training Company. Nathaniel Ebel is the Director of Business Strategy with FreightValidate. Born and raised in the Kansas City area, he got into real estate after college, but was lured into the world of logistics by landing himself working as a dispatcher for Universal Truckload. From there his career took him to the brokerage side, and by then was fully immersed.

James Year is an Airforce veteran who spent six years as a loadmaster for C-130's. After his time in service he attended Iowa and then on to Syracuse for his Master's. During a stint with the USPS he opened up his ears to a lot of new information and audiobooks, a lot of which was about the rise of Artificial Intelligence and what its implications might be, especially in transportation.

James embarked on his Master's project which is the overall impact of what AI means for the trucking industry, but the more he peeled the layers back of this onion, he learned a lot about how this complex issue is truly something all Americans need to be made aware of.

Earlier this summer I made the goal of transitioning off OTR by at least this fall, or by next summer. Getting backed into back in May essentially expedited that process. The time has come for me to get off the road, and I will be selling my truck. The first reason is family, and the second is truly the market. I got into business to grow something, not fight for the status quo.

Unfortunately for the ATA and the establishment, I'm not going anywhere. I'll still be working in transportation, AND in fitness. So they should still check under their beds at night before they go to sleep.

This was a hard episode for me to record, and I probably left out some things I wanted to say, but oh well! There is some raw emotion here, and I think that's what listeners, and our country deserve more of, authenticity.

Yellow officially fired for bankruptcy and their CEO has done nothing but play the blame game.

A new interview has been out with damning first hand experience regarding the Afghan withdraw.

I go into why accountability and extreme ownership matter.

I also explain the meaning behind my brands slogan, and how it's a mentality that can you can apply to how you adapt to life's challenges.

Lora Andela, true to her name, is 5'3" and corrals bulls and other livestock and hauls them back and forth around the country. Aligned with New York's history she is of Dutch descent, and was raised in upstate New York near Cooperstown. Homeschooled by her parents she got into college and soon realized maybe this wasn't the path for her and trucking got into her mind. Her story is a fascinating one from hauling a milk tanker, meeting her boyfriend organically and not through a social media app, to now doing one of the toughest and most essential jobs in the freight industry.

The lesson in her story is to always make sure you teach yourself how to teach yourself, and to not let the distractions of the world or the validation of others stop you from doing whatever you want

I was driving today and had some raw material floating around my head that I felt like I needed to say. Yellow's absence from the media didn't sit right with me. I'm looking to contact Rep Colin Allred to come on the show and talk transportation as he is running for Senate against Ted Cruz.

I show some of my vulnerability in how I struggled with not being my true authentic self, and why we need to rally around each other.

Recorded LIVE from Laredo, TX, the nail is in the coffin for Yellow. A leaked memo posted by Freightwaves says Yellow has stopped new shipments and will be having a company meeting on Friday. There is just no coming back, so I give my take on their final round up, and why the can was kicked to alleviate the strike.

Also got my first boost of clout on the internet as a "Course seller" who calls himself G Face posted a response over the weekend to a video I made about him four months ago where I call him a fraud. I pick apart his response and really peel back the layers of the onion on how the systems in place for our supply chain have failed and have compromised it. Mainstream media remains silent on this because in reality, the ATA enjoys that it's happening because it destroys small business to they can assume their quest for total control.

Jay got his CDL in 2021 and started with Schneider. After quickly realizing the scourge of mega carriers he made his way over to Yellow (YRC) because of the work life balance and benefits. Along the way he started documenting on social media some of toxicity among Yellow's tenured drivers, who all long for the good old days but stay at Yellow primarily for the benefits.

Jay and I have a candid conversation about everything going on with Yellow, and why/how Unions can survive and do better going into the future. Perhaps Unions did their job with LTL freight and have created a standard to be met for those jobs. It may be time for those 22,000 Teamsters come next week to bring their unionization efforts to ATA affiliated carriers!

Coming back onto the show is the Editorial Director over at Freightwaves Rachel Premack who has been diligently following the intense drama brewing over at Yellow. We go into a deep dive into how Yellow got into this situation, who's right and wrong, some possible outcomes, and some general logistics banter. We also touch on how powerful of a statement the Teamsters are making with UPS. A strike seems unlikely given who UPS is and the money they bring in, but only time will tell

This was another LIVE episode out of Pendleton, OR where I received intel from a YRC driver that Yellow would be gutting $50mil of benefits from drivers. The Teamsters say that it's a breach of contract and will be announcing a strike. TEAR which is aided by former guest of the show Desiree Wood, is out of money. TEAR would help drivers who were abandoned by bankrupt or criminal Motor Carriers. Lastly everyone thought AI and autonomous would kill truckers first, but instead the war has begun in Hollywood.

It's been a while! I've been motivating drivers to get out and walk when they're not driving on tiktok live, so my recording time has been taken up! I talk CDL Drivers Unlimited, I received correspondence from my Congressman and I'm not buying it and may just have to run for Congress myself! The ridicule is already pouring into comments sections of reposts of my news story, and I'm finally at the point to where I truly don't care. External validation was Lombard 1.0, Lombard 2.0 no longer needs it.

On today's episode I bring in one of freight twitter's funniest personalities, who just goes under the callsign Goose. He tells his trucking story which started in the construction business. Despite aspirations of being a pilot Goose learned how to truck the old fashioned way by learning on the job and backing trailers up on job sites. Goose has touched every corner of the industry except hauling livestock, doing stints in the oil field, van, reefer, flatbed, heavy haul, and demolition. His story is fantastic, and our conversation led us into the hot topics we discuss a lot on twitter like newer equipment, and the training of new drivers.

Noah Reinisch is a born and bred Chicagoan, no not a suburb, the actual city itself! Further proof no one really sets out for a career in logistics he had humble beginnings teaching kids baseball. As life moved on and dominos fell into place, a curious opportunity with a CBD company go him into the 3PL domain. Then some diapers got added! Making himself as proficient as he can with warehousing tools he made himself a valuable enough asset to go off on his own and is now working for himself.

Jamie Hagen aka MACK LOVIN is the owner/operator of Hell Bent Xpress out of Aberdeen, SD. Humble beginnings growing up on a farm, Jamie would ride along with his dad by the time he was just out of diapers. Fast forward to the 90's and Jamie bought his first truck, where he claims he did everything wrong, and eventually went out of business in 1998. But he didn't just give up, he kept trucking and got back into business in 2010, where he still made mistakes but now a bit older and wiser, when he fell, he made sure to fall forward.

Daniel Kao is a Jersey boy who attended NYU. Initially gung ho for finance he read between the lines and maybe saw that this wasn't the way to go and immersed himself into the tech world. Starting with Square who really innovated how small businesses collect payments, he then moved on to work at DoorDash at the ground floor when they had barely 50 employees. In theory DoorDash was his first taste of the logistics world, and that's when Uber Freight came into play. Unfortunately he came in at the end of the Teamsters hayday and saw the folding and consolidation of several carriers. An absolute whirlwind of career that you'll have to listen to yourself to see all the moving parts. But now in the twilight of his career he has sold his truck and will be driving for Walmart's private fleet. And we go into detail in how Walmart is actually setting the example for what carriers should have done post deregulation, or at least should be doing now.

Desiree Wood began writing about her experiences as a single, Mexican-American female entering the trucking industry in 2008 on the “Ask the Trucker” blog. Using only a cell phone, her story entitled “A Day in the Life of a Lady Trucker” caught the attention of Dan Rather and became the basis for four of his investigative reports into truck driver training. In 2010, after realizing other trucking associations were not addressing poor and unsafe training nor sexual assault in any meaningful way, Desiree formed REAL Women in Trucking. Recognized internationally by policymakers and drivers, Desiree is lauded for her advocacy for truck drivers and specifically women entering the industry. She is an expert on entry-level truck driver training fleet practices and provides insight to law firms on truck driver recruiting, retention and training programs. She is sought out by scholars, universities, and the public sector who seek an authentic truck driver perspective. She provides support and leadership for legislative/public policy efforts including the Jason’s Law movement to improve truck parking, the FHWA National Coalition on Truck Parking, as well as state and local truck parking plans and programs.
