Featured in this edition: In the summer of 2008, I started talking to David Eckhart who was a proclaimed experiencer. He lived in a large home in a wooded area near Pensacola, Florida that he described as his 'dream home.' The house had a beautiful wood interior with cathedral ceilings and lots of room for his family. David was a successful carpenter and contractor who wanted nothing more than to reap the rewards of years of hard work and enjoy life. But, for some unknown reason, he and his family were chosen to witness a world within our own. In our first conversation, David repeated a story he had previously told other people, including NUFORC and MUFON investigators. I had heard similar scenarios in the past, but there was something different about David's saga, which struck a chord in me. Over the past 15 years, I have been privy to videos, audio, screencaps, and other evidence that David has provided to me. His incredible story of countless abductions and home invasions by these beings has been presented in several radio interviews. As well, I have uploaded videos and photographs to my blog to gauge the reaction of the paranormal community. Overall, the reception has been somewhat mixed, but that was expected. So, David put his faith in me and I did the same with him and we waited. I had decided not to post further details of David's encounters and evidence, to back off, to wait and see what happens. Well, as a result of the research, David's story has been told through multiple media interviews and presented on several television programs. I wrote an entire chapter about David's saga in my book ' Alien Disclosure: Experiencers Expose Reality.' But David's ordeal is only one of many alien encounters and abduction accounts that have originated on Florida's Gulf Coast. Featured in this edition: An early and well-known alien abduction claim occurred in the mid-1950s with the Brazilian Antônio Vilas-Boas case, which did not receive much attention until several years later. Then in the 1960s, worldwide publicity was generated by the Betty and Barney Hill abduction case. The Hill incident became the prototypical abduction case, possibly the first in which the claimant described beings that later became widely known as the Greys. But abduction scenarios aren't confined to extraterrestrial beings. The story of Albert Ostman, a 64-year-old retired lumberman from British Columbia, went public in 1957 with his account of being snatched from his sleeping bag while camping on Vancouver Island. There have also been remarkable stories of kidnappings and involuntary relocations by other experiencers. Most of the reports I received were confidential, and I have received reports of other phenomena in the Pine Barrens of southeast New Jersey. There is a stigma attached to the Jersey Devil. Featured in this edition: I have investigated winged humanoid sightings since 1981 when I first included cryptid creatures as a part of my paranormal research. In 1988, I had a personal unexplained encounter with a winged humanoid in south-central Pennsylvania. Since the beginning of the millennium, a specific term has surfaced as part of the description of several of the sightings; ‘Jeepers Creepers.’ If you are familiar with modern horror films, then you’ll have an idea of what I’m talking about. In 2001, an American-German horror film, that took its name from the 1938 song ‘Jeepers Creepers,’ was released. It was a tale about two older siblings who become the targets of a demonic creature, known as the ‘Creeper,’ in rural Florida. The fact that several witnesses have compared the winged being that they encountered as resembling the Creeper is interesting. I suppose it is a cultural phenomenon; basically, because there are few other creatures, natural or fictional, to compare to. A few of the Chicago Mothman witnesses mentioned the Creeper character when giving a general description, though the eventual comparison came down to the bat-like wing structure and the ability to instantly launch itself into flight. During the same period that we were receiving reports in the Chicago area, we were also receiving accounts of similar winged beings in other locations throughout the United States and Canada. Subsequent events simply add to the legend. This seems to be the case for the Lizard Man of the Scape Ore Swamp, a phenomenon that crescendoed into a national story. It remains the namesake for the small town of Bishopville, South Carolina. I will talk about that incident during the presentation. But is the lizard man or reptoid phenomenon a reality? Featured in this edition: According to First Nations legend, the Thunderbird is said to have a wingspan the length of two canoes with the ability to deafen people with the sound of its flapping wings. In March 2010, the late Jc Johnson of Crypto Four Corners contacted me about an incident where twenty-four sheep were mutilated at a farm near Hogback, New Mexico, on the Dine' Navajo Reservation. The livestock owner explained that there were large talon marks but very little blood and no evisceration. The prints on the ground were only seen in the corral, not anywhere else on the farm. Was this an attack by a large flying predator? Why were the carcasses left intact? Jc mentioned that a large cryptid bird or pterosaur may have been responsible for this act. That theory is not as far-fetched as it may initially sound. For many generations, people in New Mexico and parts of Texas say they've seen birds so big they seem prehistoric. There is convincing anecdotal evidence that many of these legendary winged creatures are connected to modern sightings. I believe that many of these winged cryptids are corporeal beings that can manifest on our plane of existence. Their point of origin and means of conveyance is speculative. Featured in this edition: Back in the Summer of 2010, I posted a poll that posed the question ‘What is Bigfoot?’ To my surprise, 26% of the 574 participants answered they believed this creature was interdimensional and/or extraterrestrial. Are we at a point where people are open-minded enough to accept that a hominid-type species may not be of our time or planet? I posed this question to my readers and challenged them to make their case. Again, I was surprised at the amount of response I received. A total of 112 emails, with well-thought-out theories and opinions, were received in three days. Maybe we’ll discover beyond a doubt where the truth lies about Bigfoot. Lycanthropy is classified as a mental disorder in which the victim believes that they are a wolf or some other nonhuman animal. There are also metamorphs, in which a living being changes into a known or cryptid entity. An example of this phenomenon is when a Navajo native practitioner transforms into a magical being, or Skinwalker, with evil intentions using witchcraft. While the popular idea of a shapeshifter is of a human being who turns into something else, there are numerous stories about animals that can transform themselves as well. The Lycan Loop starts in northwest Pennsylvania near the Allegheny State Forest, extends southeast through the state, and ends near the southern reaches of the Susquehanna River near the Mason-Dixon Line. These ‘lizard beings’ are called ‘Saurians,’ ‘Draconians,’ or ‘Reptoids.’ Some researchers describe them as ancient shapeshifting humanoids who have inhabited Earth before the time of man. Featured in this edition: There is a distinct group of human-like entities that are part of ufology lore and, for the most part, associated with people who experience UFO and otherworldly close encounters. These are the ‘Men in Black’ or MIB. These entities usually show up, unannounced, at an experiencer’s home, seeking information about an incident. The presence of these MIB became widely known during reported UFO activity (and the Mothman encounters) in the Point Pleasant, West Virginia area in the late 1960s. The journalist and ufologist John A. Keel began writing about the MIB after they made themselves known to the residents. The descriptions of these MIB were somewhat consistent; pale or olive-colored skin, monotone voice, no emotion or expression, dressed in a black suit and fedora, and driving a large black sedan. There were usually two MIB traveling together. However, the most disconcerting aspect of their presence occurred after they conducted a brief interview. They would warn the witness, in no uncertain terms, not to discuss or report what they had observed. The message was clear. Keep your mouth shut. Most experiencers and investigators don’t know what to make of the MIB. Are they quasi-government agents? How do they know who to contact? In most instances, they appear not long after an encounter and before a report is ever made. They truly are an enigma. But I believe that there is another explanation for their presence. Namely, that the MIB are an alien 'clean-up' crew who are used to cover up problematic sightings and encounters. So, what do you think the Men in Black are? Nicole Strickland is a well-respected afterlife & paranormal researcher, author, podcaster, and speaker from San Diego, California. She is the founder, director, and case manager of the San Diego Paranormal Research Society (SDPRS). Nicole is the Ghost Research Society's California Coordinator and is a consultant to other investigative teams. Since 2011, she has co-hosted the “Spirits of the Adobe” tours at the iconic Rancho Buena Vista Adobe. Blending her love of history, paranormal studies, and writing, Nicole has written several books, including Field Guide to Southern California Hauntings, The Haunted Queen of the Seas: The Living Legend of the RMS Queen Mary, Spirited Queen Mary: Her Haunted Legend, RMS Queen Mary: Voices from Her Voyages, San Diego’s Most Haunted: The Historical Legacy and Paranormal Marvels of America’s Finest City, Spirits of Rancho Buena Vista Adobe, Max and Kayli: Two Remarkable Felines Forever Imprinted on My Heart and The Afterlife Chronicles: Exploring the Connection Between Life, Death, and Beyond. She is also a writer and contributor to Paranormal Underground Magazine. Nicole gives presentations about a variety of paranormal topics at conferences, events, and libraries. She has presented at some of the best-known conventions, such as the Oregon Ghost Conference, Port Gamble Ghost Conference, Troy Taylor’s Haunted America Conference, Maritime Ghost Conference of San Diego, Preston Castle Benefit Paracon, Ghost Fest IV aboard the Queen Mary, and Strange Escapes, among others. She is represented non-exclusively by RK Entertainment. Nicole has been featured in a myriad of media outlets discussing her work as a paranormal researcher. These include several local San Diego newspapers and magazines and news programs, such as Good Morning San Diego, San Diego Living, KPBS Evening Edition, and Channel 8 Evening Edition. She has been interviewed for nationally televised programs, including My Ghost Story: Caught on Camera, Travel Channel’s Ghost Stories, and Famously Afraid; has been further interviewed on hundreds of radio shows and podcasts. Along with Todd Bates, Nicole co-hosts Haunted Voices Radio, one of the longest-running radio programs featuring a plethora of guests from all areas of the supernatural.
