Catch Janice Verghese, a techno lawyer, in conversation with us about the dark side of the internet and how to stay safe online. Janice is an advocate of stronger policies for an inclusive, peaceful and resilient cyberspace. She has conducted over 600 workshops and webinars for students, teachers, professionals and senior citizens on Online Safety and Digital Literacy. Through these sessions she has sensitized over 1,50,000 netizens directly, and reached out to over 5,00,000 netizens indirectly. She has also conduct capacity building workshops for police officers on Gender Sensitization and Investigation of Cybercrime Against Women and Children, and has trained over 600 police officers. She is currently working with CyberPeace Foundation and leading various capacity building initiatives to help spread awareness and make online safety a household term.

A year into her role, she decided to take a leap in the social sector, which led her to work for an ambitious social enterprise - India Leaders for Social Sector, as its Partnerships and Alumni Relations Associate for over a year. With an undying passion to work for women and children development, she recently embarked on a new journey of her own mking. The Zero Period was born with an aim to make sex education a sustained part of school curriculum in India. It plans to do so by advocating for and enabling a sustained sex education curriculum for school students, which will be taught in an accurate and age-appropriate manner. We talk with her to know how technology plays an immense part in this idea, as well as why every kid should learn to know about sexuality the correct way.
