This podcast is a celebration of differences, and a space to discuss how in learning about our differences we discover how we all can benefit from simply listening to and learning from each other. Dr. Beth Allison Barr (PhD, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) is associate professor of history and associate dean of the Graduate School at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she specializes in medieval history, women’s history, and church history. She is the president of the Conference on Faith and History and is a member of Christians for Biblical Equality. Barr has written for Christianity Today, the Washington Post, and Religion News Service, and is a regular contributor to The Anxious Bench, the popular Patheos website on Christian history.

She’s crazy passionate coming alongside leaders who are influencing along the margins of culture.

She is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University and Northern Theological Seminary. Dr. Diane Langberg is globally recognized for her 47 years of clinical work with trauma victims. She has trained caregivers on six continents in responding to trauma and to the abuse of power. She also directs her own counseling practice in Jenkintown, PA, Diane Langberg, Ph.D. & Associates, which includes seventeen therapists with multiple specialties. Dr. Langberg’s newest book is Redeeming Power: Understanding Authority and Abuse in the Church. Other books include Counseling Survivors of Sexual Abuse, On the Threshold of Hope (with accompanying workbook), In Our Lives First: Meditations for Counselors and Suffering the Heart of God: How Trauma Destroys and Christ Restores.

Anna Morgan has been in full-time pastoral ministry for over twenty years. She has a background in worship and creative ministries and has been the executive pastor of the ministries of City Church Chicago, a ten-year-old multi-ethnic church in downtown Chicago, for the past five years. Anna is also a leadership coach and trainer, working to develop local church leaders around the US and Australia. Sheila Wray Gregoire is a popular speaker, marriage blogger, and the author of nine books, including The Good Girl’s Guide to Great Sex. Her latest book is The Great Sex Rescue that will be coming out in early March. It is based on the largest survey ever done of Christian women. She surveyed 20,000 women for this book, and we get to hear some of the results of that survey on this podcast.

Sheila loves encouraging women in their relationships, both with God and with their husbands, children, and friends. Her passion is for marriage, and she and her husband Keith speak together at marriage outreaches and at FamilyLife Canada marriage conferences. She has resources to help parents have the sex talk with their kids ages 10-16 in her video curriculum The Whole Story, which has a boy version and a girl version that you can use on a weekend away with your son or daughter. It is free from purity culture and statements that make girls and boys feel ashamed and trapped in ways some other curriculums have, and it makes it easy to talk about sex with you kid because the videos say the parts that are hard to talk about so you can watch with them. Has she done us a great favor here or what? She even gives us advice on how to talk with our daughters about her first period in a way that's not creepy.

Dr. Kevin Timpe currently holds the William H. Jellema Chair in Christian Philosophy at Calvin University. He’s written or edited eleven books and published over 50 articles or papers. He’s also the founder and president of 22 Advocacy, which engages in educational advocacy for students with disabilities in public schools. Faith & Work EPS 20: Dr. Michael Crane on urban transformation, global hope and work as worship

Michael is a director of Radius Global Cities Network, a think-tank devoted to the interface of the church and cities as well as a professor teaching at a couple of graduate schools. When we're not in a pandemic, Michael and his family live in a global city in Southeast Asia. Michael was raised in the international cities of Taipei, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Manila. At an early age, Michael developed a love for the vibrancy of cities. After completing a BS in Social Work from Samford University and working for a couple of years, he went to Gateway Seminary in the San Francisco Bay Area where he completed an MDiv and ThM (theology). Michael and his wife moved to Southeast Asia in 2005, working in a variety of roles with development agencies. During this time, Michael completed a PhD in urban missiology. Michael serves on the faculty of two graduate schools. Faith & Work EPS 19: Eva Leung on chemical engineering, vaccines, and faith conversations at work

Eva Leung is a chemical engineer, a TCK, a daughter of first generation immigrants to the US from Hong Kong. She is an expat in Singapore working in quality assurance in a contract manufacturing company and has years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. It was neither growing up in Arizona and Singapore, nor her studies at Princeton where she encountered the life changing conversations that led her to want to follow Jesus. It was a couple of co-workers at Merck that told her about their faith. This life change revolutionized everything for Eva, and began her journey at the intersectionality of faith and work.

She has always wanted to live the exact plot of Bicentennial Man by building a robot that can work with human body parts, and she wanted to go into healthcare earlier in life. Since she hates blood, chemical engineering it was.

She spent some time in Singapore as a kid, attending Singapore American School when her dad worked as a expat in Singapore. Moving to Singapore as a expat herself, as an adult when she transferred to Singapore with Merck Pharmaceuticals gave her a whole different view of the religious diversity within Singapore, which is the most religiously diverse nation in the world.

Arturo Jiménez grew up in Denver, Colorado, where he still lives and works. Arturo is a bilingual lawyer who has practiced federal immigration law since 1998. His humanitarian practice has represented thousands of individuals in Colorado and other States. Arturo's law office helps unify families through spouse petitions, family immigration, naturalization, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), visas for victims and deportation defense in immigration court. Most of all, they seek to support the humanitarian rights of all individuals with an emphasis on immigrant children. In 2019, he wrote a book called “Dreamers Nightmare: The U.S. War On Immigrant Latinx Children,” where he uses his experiences with clients and at the border to describe how US immigration policy has terrorized immigrant children for decades.
