Heroes and Chileans

Heroes and Chileans

"Oh Biggar off." The first cut is the deepest, but that won't stop us. This week, Kath and Lo are making a patchwork podcast via voice note because we are boundary pushers, we are innovators...and we can't find a decent Zoom connection. Enjoy our musings on drop goals, giving your own players stick, ignoring the "narrative", and heroes and villains. It's the Rugby World Cup, lads, and we're on WhatsApp.

Hullabaloo and Hand-wringing

Hullabaloo and Hand-wringing

Who's excited for the Rugby World Cup? We are. Who's sick and tired of Fiji, Samoa and other competitive, highly ranked nations being called "surprising" and "Tier 2"? WE ARE. Who knows how this World Cup will go? Not us.

Are we ready? Probably not. Are we tipsy? Certainly. Are we super psyched? You know it. It's the birth of bimbo rugby and it's beautiful.

The Truth Will Set You Free

The Truth Will Set You Free

We are back, we’re in a bad way...and so is Welsh rugby.

After the men’s third Six Nations 2023 defeat, not even Kath’s spectacularly tasteful flat can disguise the fact that things ain’t pretty. So why pretend?

Lost Forward is ripping off the plaster and letting it all out. We might regret it, we might still be under the influence. We might just be moaning for 30 minutes while battling a cold. Maybe we are. But the truth will set you free.

What's Love Got To Do With It?

What's Love Got To Do With It?

It's Valentine's Day and Kath and Lo are crazy in love...with the weekend's action.

Lo shares her hot take on Antoine Dupont (before Matt Dawson says it a week later in the paper). Kath shares her extensive notes on a never-in-doubt Welsh victory over Scotland.

Join us as we discuss Ellis Genge's potential as England's replacement fly-half and Zammo's reluctance to bundle Darcy Graham into touch.

There's also a quiz, a Kourtney Kardashian kameo, and an answer to the million dollar question: Rieko or Akira?

Live, laugh, love xxx

Lost Forward Season Two - Don't Call it a Comeback

Lost Forward Season Two - Don't Call it a Comeback

Kath and Lo are back at it...but are they even talking about rugby? It's been a while, babes, so we thought we'd return during the Men's Six Nations to muse on: what the hell we've been up to; Lo's vibe curation; whether Welsh rugby has hit rock bottom; who of us is more like Marcus Smith, and how good KL is at renovation work. It's a caulker.

We've missed you. Buckle up.

Lost Forward meets Ben John

Lost Forward meets Ben John

What’s happening, mush?

This week Lost Forward meets a Swansea hero - Ben John aka The Rugby Trainer 🏉

Ben chats to Kath and Lo about his playing career with the Ospreys, the difficult decision to step away after ongoing issues with concussion, and how he went from PT at a gym to the best rugby trainer on Instagram with over 40k followers!

Ben has grown a brilliant following through his tips, tricks and training through lockdown. Follow him @therugbytrainer for cracking drills, analysis and some lols anecdotes from the world of Welsh rugby.

He might be all about helping you improve your game, but we hope this chat is also chance to meet the driven, humble rugby-mad man behind the videos.

All this and we play a very important new game: Ankle Tap or Through The Gap. Find out at last who makes the best ice cream in Swansea, and whether there’s anything Ben loves more than Rhys Webb’s tan.

Lost Forward meets Naomi Gardner

Lost Forward meets Naomi Gardner

This one’s all about love.

Continuing our series of interviews celebrating the Women’s Six Nations, Lost Forward meets Bournville Ladies Vice Captain Naomi Gardner.

Naomi‘s love and passion for the game shines through, as we chat about grassroots rugby, including: a surprise childhood rugby memory; players gassing it; and how she keeps her team motivated when things get tough.

Naomi and the pod also talk about tackling racism in (and outside of) the game. Naomi shares her thoughts and experiences as a Black woman in the sport, and talks about the importance of access and representation.

It was an honour chatting with you Naomi. Lost Forward sends the best of luck now the Bournville women are back in training - and we hope you’re chuffed that your Super Rugby faves the Chiefs are doing well!

Keeping it Cleall

Keeping it Cleall

Kath and Lo are back! shooting the (redacted) and working on our natural chemistry.

We ponder a thought-provoking start to the Women’s Six Nations and lush feedback from our interview with Megan Jones (check it out!). We also ask: how to analyse women’s Test rugby without considering the unevenness of the playing field?

There’s also hot news from Aotearoa as the Crusaders lose at home (finally!) and the ladies ponder whether the rip is the new jackal.

Plus: Lo reveals why she should never meet her heroes, with a heartwarming tale of weeping in front of Sir Bobby Charlton.

Review, share, follow! Diolch am gwrando bbz

Lost Forward meets Megan Jones

Lost Forward meets Megan Jones

Kath and Lo are delighted to share their first ever interview on the Lost Forward podcast! Who better to kick off for us than the inimitable Megan Jones, a Cardiff lass who is pure class!

Born and raised in Cardiff, but English qualified through her mother, Meg moved to England as a teenager to pursue her rugby dream. Meg plays 10 for Wasps Ladies, England Women and GB Sevens, and she's got a fascinating story to share.

Meg is set to feature for the Red Roses later today as they take on Scotland in the opener of the Women's Six Nations Championship. Let Lost Forward be part of your pre-match prep! You won't regret it.

Hello Darkness, My Old Friend

Hello Darkness, My Old Friend

We all know what happened on the weekend, and we are not gonna lie: we’re sad.

Kath and Lo are feeling the familiar pull of the Welsh whirlpool of melancholy. There’s an ice cream van circulating ominously in the background. Lo’s Ritter Sport doesn’t even taste good.

We can’t be objective. We can’t be dispassionate. We can’t be journalists for you, babes. So we’re just going to share what we feel.

Some massive shout-outs to our crew, fans, friends and family; a few classy innuendos as always. And Lo continues to moan about the Crusaders.

MotherGrubber

MotherGrubber

Recorded on Mother’s Day, released on St Patrick’s Day ☘️, this week’s ep is brought to you by Tadhg Furlong’s dancing feet, Ken Owens’ kicking from hand and Romain Poite’s chaotic energy. Listeners, don’t be scared.

Kath and Lo feel #blessed: Ken and Taulupe scored; Akira had a MOTM performance in New Zealand; Wales have beaten Italy comfortably; Anthony Watson remains pure class.

....but we are still complaining. Should Wales have been more ruthless? Was Ken robbed of his chance for a hat trick? Why did they disallow the Akira/Rieko Ioane score of the season for the Auckland Blues?  And what is going on with rugby players’ haircuts?

All this plus you’ll discover the important connection between LRZ and J Lo.

Hot Mess

Hot Mess

We are back and the raging hot mess of 2021 continues.

For a start, we missed a doozy by not connecting the name of our pod with the weekend’s most controversial decision - just another overlooked knock-on, we spose....👀

As well as controversy and discipline, Kath and Lo talk through the positives from Wales v England, prospects for the Wales v Italy and why it’s time to leave “as long as we beat the English“ behind.

There’s a quick round up of the action in New Zealand and the last section is dedicated to the game of the weekend: Wasps Ladies’ victory over Saracens led by standout 10, Megan Jones.

Lo also tries to pitch a buddy comedy starring Justin Tipuric and Taulupe Faletau.

Please follow and spread the word if you’re enjoying Lost Forward! See you next time

Hundy

Hundy

Is Lost Forward your new favourite podcast? Hundy.

This week is all about milestones and big moments. Skip straight to part 2 (23 mins) for the Wales England preview !

Part 1 of the pod was recorded in the Taulupe Fallow-tau week: we reflect on the state of rugby and our role within it as fans.

Lo also geeks out on the start of Super Rugby Aotearoa, a milestone for Ardie and the retirement of Daniel Carter (whose career parallels another landmark athlete - Kathryn Louise Lloyd).

Part 2 has us on the eve of Wales v England, feeling fluttery.

The squads have been announced and Kath and Lo are getting amped up for the Clash of the Titans.

Has Pivac made the right choices at centre? Will the Welsh front row survive against three British and Irish Lions? And how is Skip to My Lou-is Rhys Zammit?

Plus: we ask why Lo’s brute physicality has once again seen her left out of the 6 conversation.

As always, thanks for your support - give us a like and a follow!

Not Emotional and Not Erratic

Not Emotional and Not Erratic

Giddy with the news we have expanded our fanbase, Kath and Lo chat through the weekend's highlights and try out some new features for the pod.

We cover: Wales' unbeaten run (against 14 men); Anthony Watson and LRZ being class; long-standing rivalries; our bid to become a trilingual pod, and Lo's questionable pun game.

We also pose an important question for you to ponder: why are people still sleeping on Justin Tipuric?

Thank you for the support and feedback! Big shout-out to you all!

Red Cards and Golden Gussets

Red Cards and Golden Gussets

Kath and Lo talk highs and lows of the Six Nations openers, disappointments in the rugby quiz and ask - WWDCD (What Would Dan Carter Do)?

A bumper episode this week, and best listened to without headphones due to a minor technical hiccup.

Work-Ons

Work-Ons

A well-prepared Kath and flustered Lo have a chat about the Wales Six Nations squad announcement, whether fullback is still a specialty position, and why they are starting a podcast.

Lost Backward: 2020 in Review

What did Kath and Lo learn about each other and rugby in 2020? From quizzes, to Super Rugby Aotearoa, to keeping secrets and lording it over each other, it's been a big one.
