What better gift to give that special person in your life on Valentine's Day than a podcast about DuckTales? Let's be honest.. this game has everything you should be looking for in a game.. Drama, intrigue, money, greed, and a final race to the top against your archrival. And isn't that what Valentine's Day is really about? Actually, let me check Google really quickly... Hmmm.. interesting.. I see...... It seems it is not.

Well here's that Halloween-centric episode that we all look forward to in February of each year. So fire up your pumpkin spice lattes and prepare yourself to be whisked away to Golvellius. (Also, just between us.. the game isn't really that "Halloween-y".. keep that between you and I, capiche?)

Episode number two in our backlog remediation plan (and number 57 in our hearts) centers around one of the most famous on-rails FPS FMV games for the SegaCD. Yep.. you guessed it.. Sewer Shark. Also, it's in the title of the episode so we're really not that impressed that you guessed it. Unless you're under forty years old.. then it's impressive that you've even taken the time to read this far.

Well well well.. what do we have here? Looks like a "new" episode of our show. Well I have good news and bad news. The year is 1992 and you work for a marketing company.  It's your job to help market and sell mediocre games from an average developer and publisher.  A package arrives with a single Super Nintendo prototype.  You have to ask your son what to do with it because your job is to sell games, not play them.  He sets you up and you take a look at a pretty average side-scrolling space shooter.  You head to the bathroom because that is where you do your best work.  As you traverse through the doorway, you slip and hit your head on the toilet.  

While laying face down on the cold linoleum floor, you have a vision.. a vision of a man.  He's an older man. Some would call him a "salt of the Earth" kind of guy, wearing a flannel shirt and denim bib overalls.  A brown fedora lays gracefully on his distinguished head.  His best friend, a dog, is by his side and, with his thick grey beard, he saunters in unassumingly and sits down.  

Suddenly, a ship screams into view.  It's so bright you can barely make out that it's an A-144 Enforce Fighter.   A bolt of lightning cracks through the starlit sky.  Knocked off of your feet, you gather yourself and look back to the man in the chair to see that he is now holding the most powerful musical instrument in the world:  

The Banjo

It's at this very moment that you awake from your concussed blackout and scream "THAT'S IT!" as you're strapped a gurney and placed in the back of an ambulance. 

And thus the legend of Phalanx was born...

Hey.. it's been a while.  I know we said we were going out to get cigarettes a couple of months ago.. and we didn't come back.  Listen, all we can say is that we're very sorry and that it won't happen again. 

That being said, we ARE back!  This episode was recorded in June and we know it's been too long since we got it out.  We almost scrapped it but decided against it because we actually thought it was pretty good.  We will be getting back to more regular releases immediately. 

This episode goes over the OG of JRPGs: Dragon Warrior for the Nintendo Entertainment System.  We talk about it's release, the slog that can be the gameplay, and where it lives in the pantheon within the history of JRPGs.
