It's Wonderful Wednesday, and we're having a two-hour show today! Rachel Fitch is back from vacation and will fill us in on what she's been up to. Arcadia Live's crew stops by to update us on their weekend events. Humbling Bloom's Kathryn Dover will stop by to tell us about her Yoga practice and probably guilt us into attending hot and sweaty Yoga. We will also get a visit from Together With Hill Country Veterans, who will discuss the importance of providing mental health support to the veteran community. All of this and more at 9 a.m.

We continue our health and wellness conversations and today is about mental health, with MHDD stopping by to talk about mental health first aid. The Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau's Julie Davis storms onto the show to discuss this week's events calendar. Texas Hill Country Advisors Andrew Gay joins us via video uplink with an update on the economy. 

We return to discussions about health and wellness throughout the week, and today's first guest is Wende Beggs Jones, who owns Fresh and Fit. Jones' fitness business combines fitness and nutrition and continues to grow her business innovatively. We welcome back the Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau's Leslie Jones to update us on events this week. We'll also hear from Texas Hill Country Advisors Gilbert Paiz and Andrew Gay with the latest in the economy.

During the Sept. 20, 2022 episode of The Lead, guest host and former Kerrville Mayor Bill Blackburn talked with Peterson Health President and CEO about the lessons he's learned in leadership.

District Attorney Lucy Wilke, who represents the 216th District Attorney's office, will discuss Child Abuse Awareness Month. Joining Wilke will be Brent Ives, executive director of Hill Country Crisis Council, Kellie Early, president of the Kerr County Child Services Board, and Stephenie Cantu, program director at Kids Advocacy Place.

Becky Babb will tell us about her wedding, doubling as a fundraiser for Kerrville Pets Alive! Kerrville NAPA Auto Parts store owner Cindy Colbath will discuss National Car Care Month, and NAPA is also working on a KPA fundraiser. We'll get a visit from Jennifer Natale and Sisters in Service. The nonprofit organization is hosting a fundraising event on Saturday to support their community work.

Rob Ward, who wrote the musical "For Such A Time As This." Joining Ward is composer Lew King. The musical premieres Friday at Playhouse 2000. Based on the biblical story of Esther, "For Such a Time as This," is a love story. Using a wide variety of musical styles and more than a smattering of humor, the musical relates one of the great stories in a way that appeals to a broad audience, young and old alike.

We head into the weekend with a big lineup for this morning's show, with Kerrville Public Utility Board's Mike Wittler and Allison Bueche providing an update about some of the latest programs. Century 21 The Hills Realty's John Sawyer will give us a preview of Saturday's Farm and Ranch Expo at Schreiner University. The expo is a free event with many speakers who will discuss everything from managing wildlife to managing water on a farm or ranch.

Schreiner University's Don Frazier, who heads up the Texas Center, will update us on some of the work being done at the Alamo to broaden the historical perspective of the site.

Delayne Sigerman is our host today and she's got plenty of news. Master Gardeners Pam Umstead and Jackie Connelly visit us today with an update about their projects.

We're going to admit it when we're wrong, and yesterday we thought Michelle McBryde was joining us on the show, but she's with us today. McBryde has many interests, including fighting against Chronic Wasting Disease in the Hill Country's deer population, but today she will give us some of the backstories of her family's deep roots in Texas. Jennifer Natale is also joining the show, organizing a fundraiser to support the Sisters In Service organization.

It's National Down Syndrom Awareness Day. Brittany Lehmann, who volunteers at the Special Opportunity Center, will be our guest to discuss the importance of the day for the families of those with the genetic syndrome.

We welcome Kris Koether of Premier 7 Gym. Koether will tell us about his training efforts with Kerr County athletes of all ages. Also, expect Ashley Phillips to storm onto the show potentially.

We'll chat with Sally McHalffey, who owns Mustang Sally's furniture on Water Street. McHalffey and her husband, Chad, opened the business late last year, and it specializes in Southwestern-style furniture, pottery and other items. The story is near G Street and features plenty of color inside. Schreiner University's David Reast will join us at 9:30 a.m. to discuss a job fair the university is hosting on Wednesday. The fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the university's ballroom. Today is our 50th show of 2022

The Hill Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Centers crew will join the show starting at 9 a.m. The conversation will focus on several issues ranging from the mental health needs in the Hill Country, especially as we're coming out of COVID-19.

Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing Vice President Kristin Hedger stops by to give us an update. We can also expect a visit from Linda Field, who will tell us more about Saturday's event with writer and newspaper columnist John Moore. Programming note: On Monday, Andrew Gay and Greg Richards will take over The Lead Live, because host Louis Amestoy will be out of town.

Schreiner University's Gene Dowdy will join us to discuss tonight's concert by Schreiner music students at the Cailloux Theater. Dowdy is the conductor of Symphony of The Hills, but he's also now leading Schreiner's music department. We'll chat with him about the symphony and where he wants to take the university in the coming years. Dowdy and his students take the stage at 7 p.m. for the free concert at the Cailloux Theater.

Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Brad Barnett will discuss Thursday's Hill Country Economic Summit. It's a check-up on the regional economy, and we'll get Barnett's take on what he sees here in Kerr County. Some of our economic summit questions for Barnett will be around employment, wages and affordable housing.

We talk with District Clerk candidate Francisco Galvan, who is facing Dawn Lantz, for the Republican nomination. The winner faces a reasonably clear path to the seat because there are no other party candidates.

Guest host Andrew Gay interviews Irene Van Winkle about the situation in Ukraine. 

This morning we'll interview Delayne Sigerman about her homeless census she's conducting.

It's TWO-SDAY! Well, singer-songwriter Landon Lloyd Miller couldn't join us on Monday because he had a plumbing issue. He was very apologetic, and we just told him that if we had to choose between him and getting our toilet fixed, we choose the plumber — EVERY TIME. So, he's on the show today. Also joining us will be Steve Schulte and Stacey Loperati from Arcadia Live to discuss their upcoming shows. We'll also have a visit from Amber Thomason to discuss the campaign for the public safety building in Kerrville. We will also get an update on the John Moore event scheduled.

Singer and ukulele player Lyla Moura will join us at 9:30 a.m. to discuss her latest schedule of performances. Moura has gigged around Kerrville and Fredericksburg for the last two years.

Andrew Gay brings in a whole lot of people to discuss the Leadership Kerr County event. Karen Guerierro will storm onto the show.

We welcome back Jennyth Peterson to the show, but she's talking about something considerably less controversial this time. Peterson and her mother, Rebecca, are involved with the Hill Country Quilt Guild, hosting its winter show starting Friday at the Happy State Bank Expo Center at the Hill Country Youth Event Center. The two-day event is dubbed "Along The Silk Road" and will feature 250 juried quilts. Jennyth Peterson was previously on The Lead Live to discuss her opposition to a residential development in northwest Kerrville.

We have a jam-packed show for you today with three guests discussing a wide range of topics. Linda Field will stop by to discuss an event she's helping organize involving syndicated newspaper columnist John Moore here in Kerrville next month. Natarsha Sanders will discuss the COVID-19 storytelling project developed for Big Seed. We'll get a preview of Super Bowl 56 from Trey Collis, who now has his own show on JAM Broadcasting.

Delayne Sigerman takes control of the show, and she’ll chat with Chief Public Defender John Bull from Hill Country Regional Public Defender Office. Delayne will also cover her usual topics, including her new favorite wine and her latest recipe.

We talk with Rachel Fitch, owner of Fitch Estate Sales and two pawn shops in Kerrville, and she has plenty of stories to share. 

We chat with Brenda Hughes and Chris Hughes about the county's proposed general obligation bonds to pay for new facilities.
