Radiant Bliss: Unlocking True Happiness, Embracing Support, and Focusing on Passion in Business

Radiant Bliss: Unlocking True Happiness, Embracing Support, and Focusing on Passion in Business

My guest expert today is Karah Gonstead, and she loves creating an inspired life for entrepreneurship or for mothers. What we're talking about in this chat is how to declutter the daily boring tasks and the stress of entrepreneurship and motherhood.

So all your entrepreneurs, all your mums out there, you know what we're talking about. And what she talks about is so so good because her and I very much connected that she likes to think about what our strengths are, to figure out what brings us joy and what we're naturally good at. And that's the same thing I talk about when we're decluttering.

Instead of doing the shoulds, and looking at all that social media, what we think we should be doing, let's do what works for us. Right? Let's just ignore what everything else is happening on social media. Let's take a look at us. And then as Karah says, what really truly makes us happy.

So asking for help. And that's a big thing. So we talk about outsourcing and asking for help can be so difficult for a lot of us. So Kara gives us some really good steps for that. And then what she talks about is doing the things that we love and what really fills our cup.

Right? I love that. And the really neat thing she talks about is that it allows us to shine and show up the best version of ourselves. So the way she put it was declutter and shine so so so good. This episode is going to help you with some steps on how to do that and some strategies.

And then recognizing the pressure we put on ourselves and how do we get that spark moment and how do we make those decisions between doing those boring daily tasks. Karah sharesher experience, which is really interesting about doing the dishes at nighttime, which was quite I really love that part because I talk about it's great to do the dishes at the end of the night, but she has this different spin on it.

We chat about how we have to make the decision and figure out what we're comfortable with, what can we let go, and what we feel is really beneficial for us because she talks about how she was getting resentful of doing the evening tasks, which no longer created the space and structure for her that she felt good about. So really, really interesting and, you know, making that choice of making, you know, she needs a window of alone time. Like, all of us.

And we kind of have a joke about so what happens when she didn't do the dishes. Well, the house didn't fall down, so that's good. But how do you feel about it and what works for us? So focus on what works for us with that feel fulfilled in really healthy ways and give ourselves all the grace in the world.

Really love this episode. I know you're going to get so much out of it.

Reclaiming Your Health

Reclaiming Your Health

People often think that maintaining good health means sacrificing a lot of things. But healthy doesn’t need to be hard. Through simple planning and organization, you can achieve a sustainable healthy lifestyle.

One example is Meal Planning. Maintaining a healthy diet is easy when you are able to plan your meals ahead. You’re not only saving time, but you’re also saving your money, energy, and health!

Let’s say you weren’t able to plan your meals for the week. So when lunchtime and dinner come, you likely won’t have much time and energy to prepare. You then succumb to ordering unhealthy, costly food outside. That one day of being unprepared leads to days and weeks of having uncontrolled food habits.

Can’t do meal planning?

But meal planning doesn’t always work for everyone who’s always busy during the weekends. We get it. It’s not a perfect world. So what are other options?

Plan B: Have freezer-ready meals that you can quickly defrost. This saves you time, money, and health from ordering food online. So the next time you make a meal that’s freezable, make it double. Think of different meals that you can have freezer-ready.

Tip: Look at the ingredients of those frozen food brands. If you can, avoid processed, toxic foods even if they are ‘salads.’

Plan C: Have a list of go-to meals that are quick and whose ingredients are always available at home. Like having a bag of shrimp in the freezer. In addition, have those few items that you could eat anytime at home (ex: a can of beans.)

Plan D: Always have that food in your fridge that everyone loves. Moms always face the struggle of feeding their kids. But forcing them is counterproductive. The environment you’re creating around their mealtime is beneficial for their body image and relationship with food— more than their skipping of a meal a few times. It’s important to create a good, happy eating environment more than what they’re eating.

“Organization translates well into health.” – Lety Algeri

There’s a ton of ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle through organization. Because the solution is always to make it simple. You easily give up on things when you start over-complicating things!

What is your tipping point when it comes to clutter...how you know when to do something about it?

What is your tipping point when it comes to clutter...how you know when to do something about it?

I am so excited to have one of my clients, Tamara, in this episode. It’s amazing to witness the huge, huge progress that she makes in reclaiming her space. And today she will share with us her experience with the program and how she applied it to her life!

The right fit for you

In finding a program, it’s important to find one that is flexible. One that caters to YOU, and doesn’t just give a one-size-fits-all advice. Because you wouldn’t want to waste time and money on a guide that doesn’t work for you.

That is why Tamara went for the Space Reclaimers Program. This course caters to your own unique strengths and weaknesses, gives you a clear direction, and is very simple. It’s easy to follow through! Louise assesses your situation and personality, then helps you build habits that stay with you even after you finish the course.

Everyone’s different, so it’s important to have a coach who doesn’t see everyone as the same.

Some stuff in the program:
  • Finding the reason why you collect clutter. Because when you are able to pinpoint the reason why you tend to hold on and acquire new stuff, you would be able to address your problem. Are you sentimental about your things? Find therapy through retail shopping? so on.
  • Getting your kids on board. Impart your knowledge to them bit by bit, so they adopt the decluttering and organizing habit. Thus, maintaining an orderly home is easier for you!
  • Dealing with your kids’ stuff. Some kids love clutter. And sometimes, it’s necessary that you put a limit on how much stuff you provide for your kids. If your kids have a place to put their toys/stuff, then go ahead and provide more for them. But if they don’t have a place to put new stuff, then you either replace existing ones or not buy a new one at all.
“Model it for your kids to have a space designated for their stuff.”  -Tamara Remillard

Using Essential Oils to Declutter Your Home & Reduce Stress with Desiree and Iva

Using Essential Oils to Declutter Your Home & Reduce Stress with Desiree and Iva

Essential oils are filled with beneficial ingredients that not only work but are also safe to use every day. They can be used as an alternative to aromatherapy and for improving fragrance in the home. Many people have been turning to essential oils because of their mood-boosting abilities and their ability to declutter homes and help reduce stress. Some of the most popular essential oils include lavender, lemon, peppermint, cedarwood, and rosemary. Today’s episode is graced with two wonderful ladies who are professionals in aromatherapy. They will help us understand how we can use essential oils in our daily activities to declutter our homes, bodies, and minds for a peaceful living.

Iva Perez is obsessed with helping mothers (and mompreneurs) “correct their inner auto-correct.” Tapping into the subconscious mind, doing the inner work, and transforming limiting beliefs is her jam. She is also an avid speed reader, matcha evangelist, and dark chocolate lover who passionately believes in having fun_ no matter what. As an RTT Practitioner, Iva helps clients get to the root cause of old paradigms with the ability to provide objective feedback from a place of intuition.

Desiree Bonau is the founder of Oily Essentials, an international platform that brings health and wellness to families across the world using therapeutic grade essential oils, toxic-free lifestyle products, a unique switch & ditch strategy, holistic wellness, and healing techniques. She is also a Metaphysical & Clinical Aromatherapist, a Holistic Wellness Guide for families, and a mother. She mentors other mothers who would like to start a business from home while actively raising their little ones and being the gatekeepers of their families' health. Tune in! What does minimalism actually look like?

What does minimalism actually look like?

Today's episode is about what does minimalism actually look like to you....  I am creating a program that will help create that life that you desire and I really wanted to involve you so I would know what you are struggling with. I created a survey and there was a lot of answers around minimizing so this inspired today's podcast.

I feel that the word minimalism is very intimidating and we are getting confused about what it means for me when I think of it, I like to think of it as fine tuning your life.  You can still have stuff, have hobbies etc. Its about what our desires are and there is a grey line and we start collecting things to substitute what we are feeling. We are missing something in our lives and we replace that with stuff.

A great way to create a minimalist life is to have rules and guidelines that will help guide us through the tough decisions on when to buy items and when we need it or is it just a want.

I chat about how to shift your mindset to create a minimalist lifestyle. How trauma can be a huge part of why we collect clutter and have such an attachment to stuff, with my trauma it made me feel the opposite that I was not good enough and did not deserve stuff.

Quick & Simple ideas on how to address brain clutter

Quick & Simple ideas on how to address brain clutter

Today on the Inspiring Calm podcast, Louise Hopkin gives us a primer on brain clutter. As an organizer, Louise wants nothing more than to “help people release themselves from their stuff.” To her, decluttering isn’t just about making the home look prettier, but for the homeowner to reflect deeply on why they accumulate things. Becoming aware of this makes it easier for them to part from the items that they struggle to let go of, whether they be antiques, heirlooms, and other pieces that have been in their family for years that have been collecting dust.

Most people think that getting rid of excess in the home will help them to focus better. While this is true, Louise recommends first addressing the clutter in your brain before moving on to the physical clutter around you. Comprising this brain clutter can be anything from unfinished work-related tasks to financial stresses.

Removing clutter, from the brain or from the home, is a process, and it’s not easy. In fact, getting to the point where tranquility is quickly reached after a sweep requires a worldview change. Louise, for example, talks about the need for specificity whenever one goes out to shop, instead of allowing oneself to become distracted and even overwhelmed whenever they go out to the mall or wherever there is a wide selection of stores.

The key to ridding yourself of brain clutter is to keep things simple. The easiest way to simplify your life is to note down your to-dos in a diary or on a calendar. Through the physical action of writing things down, and by forcing yourself to stick to a schedule, you allow yourself to settle into a routine alongside forming new good habits. It will help to keep your to-do lists for each day short. Again, the point is to avoid overwhelm, so by making yourself focus on the main tasks of the day, your thinking will naturally be able to remain organized and calm.

There’s nothing wrong with taking some downtime. When you’ve completed those important tasks or have some time before the next one, don’t be afraid to take a break. Spend some time with your family, watch a movie, or read a book. Allow yourself to slow down.

It’s also a good idea to get rid of digital clutter. Social media can take up so much of our time throughout the day, often for unproductive reasons. Louise suggests spending half an hour unfollowing people and groups on Facebook and Instagram that you know you can live without. Likewise, unsubscribe from all email contacts whose content you barely or don’t even read.

On the other hand, helpful digital practices include taking important physical documents like bills and making digital copies of them so that paper clutter doesn't pile up around your home. Set up automatic payments as well to free up your mind from these mundane tasks.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • What comprises brain clutter?
  • How to simplify your everyday life
  • Why it helps to become aware of how you feel whenever you enter a room
  • The power of writing down your tasks
  • Embracing downtime
  • Eliminating digital clutter

Taking Back Control

Taking Back Control

On this episode of Inspiring Calm, I begin by talking a bit about where on Earth I’ve called home throughout my life and where I’ve begun to finally settle down. Staying in one place for a while may cause you to collect more stuff, so I talk about balancing the decisions you make on what to keep when trying to minimize your belongings. Uncovering the emotion(s) behind why you’re keeping sentimental items, including items related to traumatic times in your life, is a great practice to have. There’s never a perfect time to face situations like this, but having support and encouragement throughout this journey is very helpful. Getting to the root of why you have clutter and moving through the emotions you feel when looking at certain items is the key to finding freedom in your space. I talk about my 3 Steps to Reclaiming Your Space training and why it could be helpful for you. Remember, you don’t have to do this alone! There are people out there who are willing to be by your side through it all and I am one of them.

I invite you to send me a DM on Instagram @thespacereclaimers about what you would like to change about your life right now! Is there something so disorganized and out of control that you just want it fixed? I am here to help and would love to connect with you.

Part 1 of our 3 Part Series WHY do you collect clutter

Part 1 of our 3 Part Series WHY do you collect clutter

On this very first episode of Inspiring Calm, I introduce my intentions for the podcast and give you a bit of insight into why it’s important to calm the mind and make your home a sanctuary.
As a professional home organizer, I love sharing my knowledge on why being organized matters and how it’s connected to our health and well-being. From finances, to anxiety, to not being able to find certain items you know you have, only to go out and buy another, organization and decluttering has the potential to impact your well-being in numerous ways.
I introduce the acronym R.E.A.S.O.N., which I created to represent the top 6 reasons why we collect clutter. In this episode, I talk about the first two letters, which stand for Retail therapy and Emotions, and how we can keep ourselves accountable and ease decision making in these areas.
It’s important to be realistic during a journey towards releasing yourself from your stuff… and I’m here to inspire you and support you on your incredible journey to freedom. Tune in, connect with me, and follow along to learn more!
