68. The Future is Green

Today we share about our vision as an organization and what our next steps are to continue to serve our mission for our community. The Love the Green Life Wellness Center, Cafe & Vintage Shop will be the change we want to see in the world. All of us are in dire need of services that make it easier to choose the green solution. Our organization; Love the Green Life, offers a beacon of hope with the most effective courses, guides, media, and events to carry us into a healthy future. Love the Green Life is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational service organization that specializes in cruelty-free, chemical-free and compassionate living. We encourage a more eco-friendly lifestyle through coaching, a vintage shop, our podcast, a weekly radio program and an annual conference. We dream of offering the eco-conscious market a permanent gathering space with a zero-waste vegan cafe, wellness events, and our vintage shop. It is our ultimate goal to be a visible environment of active change in Northeast Ohio. We dream of a space that honors our local history, highlights vegan cuisine, and attracts visitors from all walks of their green journey. We often greet our listeners as our “Green Team”. Let’s face it, we all want to be a part of a supportive team. The Love the Green Life Wellness Center, Cafe and Vintage Shop will be our headquarters. We plan to become a demonstration model in many ways. For example: we plan to hold a catering license so that we can safely offer local vegan grab & go meals, bakery items and farm-to-table fast food. We have vendors in line. Local food artisans, chefs and baristas, all who have chosen to join our mission. The best part of being on the Green Team is that we accept everyone on their journey to a better planet. Will you join our Green Team? Will you be the change we need to see in the world? Head to lovethegreenlife.org and the donate button is right on the homepage if you are looking to help us on our mission. You can also join our Plant Power program. 54. Heather DiFranco: label expert, educator and board treasurer

54. Heather DiFranco: label expert, educator and board treasurer

We talk to our newest team member, Heather today! Heather is our new treasurer for Love the Green Life, the non profit we run! Heather has so much knowledge, joy and excitement to share with us. If you are someone who needs help reading a label, Heather is an expert at this. She is our unofficial label-ologist. She is going to drop some of the top ingredients for you to watch out for as you are looking for better products for yourself or family and friends. She is an educator and holds a teaching license and she is an avid researcher of the chemical compounds and ingredient names that you see on the products you buy and use. She is going to help us decipher that language and tell us about some ingredients to look out for and why. You are going to love hearing from Heather and we are so blessed to have her as part of our team now!

Heather is a wife and mother to a couple of energetic boys who constantly keep her on her toes. She became interested in living a “greener” life her senior year of high school when she was educated on human trafficking and its role in the production of products. She began casually looking for more sustainable products and ethically sourced ingredients until 2017 when she was pregnant with her first son. She then began looking for alternatives to conventional medicine and began swapping all their personal care and cleaning products out for toxin free options. She now has her own Facebook group and Instagram where she is having a blast using her creativity and research skills to educate others on risks of conventional ingredients and what better options are out there.

48. Diana Nicholson: Owner of Kind Cakes Bakery, LTGL Vice President

48. Diana Nicholson: Owner of Kind Cakes Bakery, LTGL Vice President

Today we chat with Diana Nicholson, our board vice president. Diana is the owner of a local vegan bakery, home gardener and supporter of encouraging others on their green journey. I (Jess) have known Diana a good portion of our lives and it is so cool to see the journey we have both taken to get here together today. I personally am honored to have her as part of the organization, a friend and colleague. She really has so much to teach and to offer and I am looking forward to all of that here with Love the Green Life.

Diana's family transitioned to a vegan lifestyle almost 6 years ago. They started for health reasons but then learned more about the ethical aspect. They are raising 3 kids (16, 8 and 2) and are excited to help produce the next generation of "green" individuals. Because of the kids Diana founded “Kind-cakes”, a vegan bakery out of Cuyahoga Falls. Her drive for doing so was that she didn't want them left out at birthday parties or school functions. She also wanted to show that these celebrations can still be enjoyed with vegan ingredients.
