In this episode, I shared some tips on how to thrive during your probation period after starting your new job. Best believe, you've got this, so show 'em what you've got! Enjoy this episode :)

Regardless of the job role or career field, there are usually some questions which cut across industries and in this episode, I shared some of those and gave guides on how to answer them. S4 E2 - Two Approaches To Job Search

I read a book titled "what color is your parachute" by Richard Bolles and found it super insightful. Based on some insights from the author, I learned that there are two approaches to job searching, one being traditional and the other being more strategic with an end goal of getting a job you really love and which utilizes your skills. In this episode, I discussed some elements involved in these two approaches and gave some examples of how this plays out in day-to-day job hunting. Please enjoy and learn something new :)

The Nigeria 🇳🇬 #CultureSeries with Ugonna, Jessica & Ayotunde

To wrap up the year and the culture series, I featured three main cultural representations from Nigeria: Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba. As expected, it was quite enriching to discuss some of the stereotypes associated with these tribes and explore marriage from their lens. Although Nigeria is a country, the rich diversity of its people must always be acknowledged. Enjoy this episode and I wish you a merry christmas & happy new year :)  Love,  Ololade

The South Korea 🇰🇷 #CultureSeries with Young

I have a bias towards anything that looks and feels korean, so it was easy to immerse myself in this episode with the delightful Young who shared her perspective about the South Korean culture. For starters, we spoke about the personality of koreans, discussed the famous korean dishes and their love of vegetables. Also super interesting is their style of arranged marriages which is fast becoming a booming business for the companies who specialize in these services. More details in the episode so enjoy!

The Germany 🇩🇪 #CultureSeries with Nicole

You could tell from my excitement that I had looked forward to recording this episode. Nicole and I spoke about the German language which I'm still learning *wink*, food and probably the most interesting, being gender roles. Did you know that in Germany, both male and female are treated equally to a large extent, and we discussed the context of their parental leave policy. You haven't heard the best part! The Brazil 🇧🇷 #CultureSeries with Lucas

It is the diversity of Brazil for me in this episode. It's like several countries in one and possibly one of the most diverse countries in the world. Lucas and I had an interesting chat about Portuguese which I know now as the official language in the country. Other things in-between like where to visit apart from Rio de Janeiro which pretty much everyone knows, or what Brazilians eat and the stereotypes were also covered!

The Albania 🇦🇱 #CultureSeries with Suzana

An enjoyable episode I must say! It was interesting that I discovered some similarities between the Albanian and Nigerian Yoruba culture of weddings with lots of guests, money spraying, and a genuine love for beans (Always a favorite delicacy for me). Apart from that, we also spoke about gender roles which unsurprisingly favors men. What is more, Suzana shared that it is okay in Albania for men to live in their parents' home even after getting married, emphasizing the influence of parents and family in the culture. I found that really interesting. More details in the Podcast. Do enjoy this episode :)

Thanks to Alena, I learned something new about the Russian culture, like how fashionable the ladies are and some stereotypes which she addressed. There was also something unique about the burial rites. Apparently in some parts of Russia, there is a 14-day transition period of the soul after a person dies. For more about this gist, listen and enjoy!

Zahra's vulnerability was what made this episode outstanding. From her, I learned among other things, the Pakistani style of marriage, which is typically arranged (there are usually exeptions of course) and we also talked about the food. Topping the list was the Chicken Biryani! I can easily admit that Pakistan is a country with really kind and friendly people and Zahra is living proof. This episode promises to be exciting and educative so get ready to learn! Don't forget to share also :)

The Ghana 🇬🇭 #CultureSeries with Lydia & Jacob

Easily one of my favorite episodes, I learned how to speak the famous Ghanian Twi (just a little bit), spoke with Lydia about a famous tourist attraction in Cape Coast and why it is a must-visit site. For Jacob, it was more political, with him explaining the gender roles from a historical perspective and why Africa needs to adapt some cultural realities to the development of the people in those societies. It was all fun and quite inspiring to listen to two passionate Ghanaians talk about the things which thrilled them about their Country whilst hoping for better days.

The Kenya 🇰🇪 #CultureSeries with Wendo

The Kenya 🇰🇪 #CultureSeries with Wendo

My highlights from this episode were the conversations we had about marriage and death. You'd be surprised to learn that in Wendo's tribe in Kenya, the marriage ceremony has about 3-5 activities. The burial rites in Kenya fall under two major extremes, those who want to grieve quickly and move on, and others who take their time to grieve and celebrate the dead. Not to spill too much tea, just know you're in for an interesting and funny conversation, with Wendo's happy-go-lucky personality. Enjoy!

We are all influencers in some way because people have changed their eating habits, perception of an issue, lifestyle, and/or thoughts based on what we said or did. Merry Christmas || The Real Reason For Celebration 🎊

Being one of the popular festive seasons across various countries in the world, Christmas time is a joyful season to spend with loved ones. Beyond that, we rejoice with an understanding that thousands of years ago, God came to earth to dwell in our midst (through the birth of Jesus Christ) - with the goal of reconciling us back to Himself after we made a mistake which cost us our place in God’s presence - and this is really the purpose of our festivity, should we forget. I hope you enjoy this episode and I wish you a wonderful holiday period and happy new year 🎆🎊🎈

Citation movie revealed my unconscious bias || Kunle Afolayan & telling stories that touch the heart

Watching the movie #Citation made me discover a faulty thinking of mine that places the full responsibility on the woman in the event of a rape case. Acknowledging this thought of mine was really critical for me and I also thought to share it with you :)

If you have not seen this movie, now is a good time to do so and I would love to hear your thoughts. Were you (like me) unconsciously placing the burden on Moremi for the actions she took? That said, Kunle Afolayan's movies are always thought-provoking and this was no different. I shared some of the lessons I learned from the movie in this episode and hope you enjoy it also!

People don't like to talk about their weaknesses, their struggles or imperfections because of the fear of being judged or laughed at. It was not comfortable admitting that I have these struggles but this is an important step toward healing and improvement.
I hope in sharing my own struggles, you get the strength to acknowledge your weaknesses and deal with them. May the odds be in your favor!
