James Murua has been around the block when it comes to the literary arts. He worked as an editor and a columnist for a while before going solo creating a blog that has evolved into a one stop creative market place for all black and African Creatives. James has conducted workshops on blogging and social media in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Malawi and has been a media consultant for the Goethe Institut, Nairobi.
We caught up and spoke about the black and African literary sphere that he passionately represents and above all how he faired through 2020 and what 2021 holds for his vast dreams. Happy New Year!

The award-winning writer and journalist, in an interview with a blog lionessofafrica.com, says of her company SuccessSpark Brand Ltd, “I set up a company to help prospective writers plan their books, explore best publishing options, write the book, and publish.”

Season 2 : Meet … Adong

Judith Adong is not only a phenomenal creative but the First Ugandan named Prince Claus Laureate (2018). She creates captivating plays and films that provoke and promote dialogue on social issues affecting underprivileged groups. She comes to film with a theatre background, where she has written, directed and produced over 15 theatre projects and trained over 40 theatre directors across the African continent under her annual Theatre Directors Apprenticeship Program. She is also a published writer with 22 publications – 20 Children’s storybooks on the Uganda National Primary Schools Syllabus and 2 plays. Her plays have been presented in different theatres in New York, London, Toronto, Chicago, the Bloomington, Cape Town and Harare, and are taught in several American universities including Ivy League Universities like Princeton University, Dartmouth University and New York University, where she has occasionally been as a visiting artist.

Alan Tumusiime AKA Alan Scoop is a Musician, Songwriter and Actor based in Atlanta, USA. He has released a few singles over the years, EPs and lately his album Juicy that features a mix of afrobeat danceable songs and sensual feel. Alan croons like an Island Romeo meshing afro style music with his native home dialects. He was part of the musical team selected to write soundtracks for the hit series P-Valley with 'dangerous' receiving notable reviews in the entertainment press and scooping the number 9 position in the Hollywood Reporter.

Season 2: Meet ... Doreen

Doreen Baingana is a short story writer and editor who has written popular books and stories like Tropical Fish that won the 2006 commonwealth writer's Prize , she has also worked on short stories and children's books. Some awards Doreen boasts of are the Washington Independent Writers Fiction Prize, and the Caine Prize for African Writing, which she came up as a finalist, twice. She has received fellowships and scholarships to the Bread Loaf Writers Conference and the Key West Writers Seminar, and an Artist's Grant from the District of Columbia.
