Throughout most of my adult life, I grappled with the overwhelming burden of chronic pain that originated from my sedentary childhood and young adulthood.

Follow Me Friday - 6 Things I learned in the last 6 months of 2023
Follow Me Friday - The 6 things I learned this past 6 months of 2023 is mind blowing to me! 6 valuable lessons I learned from maintaining my routines throughout the first half of 2023: 1) Discipline Breeds Success: By sticking to my routines, I've experienced first hand how discipline is the cornerstone of achieving my goals. Consistency inmy bedtime, morning, exercise, nutrition, meditation, and yoga routines has led to improved overall well-being and performance in various aspects of my life. 2) Improved Physical and Mental Health: Consistently following an exercise routine, practicing yoga, and maintaining a balanced nutrition plan has lead to enhanced physical health. Additionally, my commitment to meditation has contributed to reduced stress and improved mental clarity. 3) Time Management Skills: Adhering to set routines requires effective time management. Over the past six months, I have learned how to allocate my time wisely, allowing me to accomplish more tasks and make room for activities that matter to me. 4) Resilience in the Face of Challenges: Maintaining consistency likely hasn't been without its challenges. However, by persevering through disruptions or obstacles, I've gained resilience and a deeper understanding of my ability to overcome difficulties. 5) Increased Self-Awareness: Regular meditation and yoga practice often foster self-awareness. This heightened self-awareness might have led to a better understanding of my thoughts, emotions, and reactions, helping me make more conscious choices in various situations. 6) Long-Term Perspective: Six months of consistent effort can help me appreciate the benefits of long-term thinking. I've witnessed gradual improvements and results over time, reinforcing the idea that sustainable progress often requires patience and dedication. These lessons and benefits will continue to compound as I maintain my consistency in these routines. I look forward to seeing what the end of 2023 will look like for me! If Not Now Then When?
Do you ever tell yourself you will get to doing something that you are longing to do "after" you complete this or that or after something in your life passes by?
Do you tend to tell people and friends that you should meet up sometime and just don't get around to it. Perhaps you forget with all the things life throws at you and then you run into that very person again and remember "oh yah we were supposed to schedule a meet up."
My question to you is if not now then when? If we keep putting things off we may end up regretting that we got lost in time and never took time to spend with those whom we really would have loved to.
It is said that one of the biggest regrets we have when we are older and close dying is not spending enough time with people who matter most.
So get out there and mark your calendars and just go and do the things you want to do and meet with those whom you care for the most!

Get Unstuck & Take Action
Did you know that taking Action comes before Motivation? What if I told you that taking Action creates more Action and boosts Motivation? Yes! This formula is true! When we move forward and take action steps we boost our dopamine receptors-the feel good hormone. When we feel good we get motivated. Sitting around and worrying or just thinking about what you need to do to create the life you want to live will not make it happen. Taking one step forward at a time will slowly get you to where you want to be. After all you did not get to where you are today by just sitting around and thinking about it. All the actions you have taken till now has gotten you to where you are today. Whether it is a good result or bad it took some action to get the result.

Fear makes many of us change our mood and our tone towards others. It is important to understand others when they show up angry, upset or even just plain mean on the why they are acting that way. 5 Things I Learned During My 100 Day Challenge
100 days of repeating the same habit to help it stick and become a part of my daily routine. I chose to do something I felt was difficult only to build courage and confidence in myself. I must say my discovery was a big WOW!
Why 100 days though? 100 is a magic number for me because it is long enough to make an impact on my goals, but it is short enough to feel attainable. It is a fast-track method to create new habits that will stick.

The average human makes 35,000 Decisions a day!
Decisions take time and energy and thus can deplete us.

The more decisions our brain must make the more it can tire it out.

Try Something Hard to Do & See What Can Happen!
Have you ever found yourself feeling stuck to try something new because it felt like it was too hard to do?
Did you automatically tell yourself that you would be a total failure at that so it is not for you?
What if I told you I myself have been struggling with just that and I actually challenged myself to just try and see what happens? I too have gotten myself into that "comfort zone" and chose to just take the easy path rather than complicating things and going on the harder one.
Making a change can be hard. But if we don't challenge ourselves we may not ever feel like we are moving forward in life.
If you want to see a change you need to actually step forward and make one. The change does not have to be drastic. It can be one tiny one.
This week's Follow Me Friday I share how one change for me made me notice within a week's time a little bit of difference in my balance and strength with my exercise and yoga practices! I am so excited to already notice a bit of a difference in just one week now I am stoked to see what will happen in a year!

I Can I Will - Starting a New Habit
Have you ever had a plan to add a new habit to your routine and find that you just cannot even get started?
I did and it was an idea that I had for about 2 years in my life now!
I just couldn't get myself to start the healthy habit because I could find plenty of excuses of why I do not have time or the ability to do it.
Sometimes we set our goals too high and then feel defeated if we can't do it all.
It is like the all or nothing idea that we tend to have. We think if we do not go all in, then we should not even try. How about taking that habit you want to start and breaking it down into the smallest action?
The Author B.J. Fogg, did this very thing and shares it in his book "Tiny Habits."
If we make the first action the simplest one then we will be more inclined to try it and slowly add on to it to reach our final goal.
This week's Follow Me Friday is about how I created one simple action and actually did more than I initially planned. You too can do this and choose to start small and slowly add on a week at a time.

YES! You too can Meditate!
I have had a personal meditation practice for about 8 years now. I practice every morning before I begin my day and it is absolute favorite thing I do! This week I attending my group coaching program with my Yoga Coach and we were discussing adding meditation into our personal and daily practice. I was quite surprised to find how many people in the group struggled with the "How To" of the practice.
It actually made me realize that meditation has become a part of my life and I don't even have to think about the "How" anymore. I actually took a moment and thought back on how I struggled the first time I was asked to sit on the floor, close my eyes, breathe, be still and meditate in Kundalini Yoga Teacher training! WOW how far I have come and the best part is how much I LOVE IT!

Making a Change is HARD!
This week I went through a tough moment with having to change from my "default" mode of how I use technology to deliver my Weekly messages to you and Yoga Classes to my students. I had a HUGE Technology Snafu and felt stuck. I wanted to stay in my comfort zone because it was easy and I was resistant to change because it was hard.
I took a few deep breaths and thought to myself what would I do and share with my Coaching Clients or Yoga Students if they felt this way?
YUP! I would ask them to move a bit past their comfort zone even if it is hard because it would create change and most importantly GROWTH!

It is easier to store experiences than things.

The All or Nothing Band Wagon
Many of us take this path of going all in or just call it quits. Rather than giving up when we have a hiccup in our plan how about just getting right back on track and continue to move forward. The key to success is consistency and giving yourself forgiveness when things don't go exactly the way you would like them to in an ideal situation. Life is not always a straight path. We have curves, bumps and sometimes even detours.

The Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce interviews Madhavi Rao, Owned and Chief Motivating Officer of Prana Health Yoga & Wellness. Madhavi tells her story of how Prana Health Yoga & Wellness came to be to what it is today. She is a Member of The Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and the Chairperson of one of their leadshare committees. Her passion is to share what has worked for her to create a healthy and wellbeing lifestyle with others through the practice of yoga and wellbeing coaching. She offers weekly yoga sessions (group and private) and lifestyle coaching sessions (groups and individual). All sessions are offered in person and virtually for the convenience of her students/clients to be able to reach their goals. Follow Me Friday - Success Chain
Being consistent with a tiny change each day will only move your forward to see a change in your life instead of being stuck in the same space.
The last few weeks I have been trying to incorporate an earlier bedtime. Rather than saying to myself that I need to be in bed, lights out and eyes shut by a certain time, I have created a routine to get in bed just 30 minutes earlier than my normal 1130 to midnight time. By creating that one small change I found myself finally getting to my goal bedtime of 930PM! Just 30 minute increments each week got me there and whoa I feel amazing in the morning!
