In this episode, I introduce Andrea, an established actress who works for Italian, Hungarian, German and American productions.

With more than 20 years of experience as an Actress, she describes the differences between working in a European to an American film.

She tells the difficulty that actors face, in a competitive and stressful industry that pushes newcomers into desperate situations like being criticized or being cut from scenes. 

Now she's also working as a Coach, where she hosts programs to help Actors succeed in entertainment through conscious choices, motivations and managing their resources effectively.

In this Stand-Alone Talk, I speak about working as a Freelance (or Self-Employed, a person working for different companies rather than a single one).

Based on my personal experiences, I describe both the pros and cons of working for many people and for myself, which despite it can be confusing and unexpected, it is also very satisfying and helped me built a lot of confidence.

In this episode, I have the pleasure to talk with Taichi, a Filmmaker from Japan who lives and works in London.

Director (both in Japan and UK) for commercials, music videos and documentaries mostly focused on sport and the music industry, he talks about his first featured film as well as his next project.

He tells us the differences between a Japanese to a British or American production with their pros and cons.

With great advice he gives on how to be a good director, he also mentions which director and film inspire him.

In this episode I introduce Yana, a cinematographer from Russia who lives and works in London.

Yana tells us everything about her job as Director of Photography (DOP in short) and her ways to plan a shot in pre-production.

With various job backgrounds and many experiences working in many productions from around the world, she explains her good way to deal with directors and crews in case they disagree with some shots.

Experienced also as a still photographer and visual artist, she still exhibits many of her pictures to events and art galleries despite she considers still photography as a current hobby rather than a job.

Self-learner, he has many years of experiences working by himself and on big productions as he also directs and edits his short films.

In this episode, I introduce Dom, a Producer and Director working in many popular indie projects.

With many years of experience working on both sides, he describes the different kinds of producer roles as well as the main duty of a director.

He gives a good explanation of how the distribution for indie films work by giving good advice on which cinemas he selects and the way to do a sold out.

He also gives some great pieces of advice on: following many networking events and, for those who want to be directors, starting acting classes, understanding the acting and the screenwriting process.

She both works as costume designer for indie projects and as costume trainee in big budget productions.

She has many experiences working in many kinds of projects, from contemporary film to period drama series.

With a good attitude and passion for her job, she tells in every detail on how the costume department works, from the pre-production and ending after they call wrap.

Together we also discuss that despite our job background allowing us to start our career in our mid 20s, it is never too late for you to do a job you like and start your career soon.

Italian like me, he worked for many productions in the UK, as well as internationally.

Ciao People,

In this episode Sammy talks about her expierence on becoming a director.

She is an award winner for the "Best 48 Hours Film Project" in 2017 for the film "DAVID & BATHSHEBA", a short film made in just a couple of day and partly shot underwater.

She is also a Cinema Projectionist, able to operate both 35mm & digital projectors (picture example in the post at the bottom).

Inspired by many filmmakers, she gives advices to those who want to balance their passion project with their paid work.

She also give good advices for people who want to know how to direct their first film, whatever is short or featured.

In this episode I present Alex Mill, an experienced Assistant Director (AD in short) who also worked as a Director, video editor, producer and photographer.

With more than 10 years of experience, she managed to travel the world and work for many productions, independent or high budget.

She describes the responsibilities ADs have for the crew and the difference between a 1st AD and a Director.

Currently on break from her AD job, she is also an Intimate Coordinator.

Together we also talk about the tension that many cast and crew are facing working on production, both because the tough work on set and also for our mental health getting worse in the middle of the pandemic.

We mention that despite how difficult the job might appear, kindness and empathy are always the best attitude to have in order to give a good impression to the crew.

Artist of many projects and fanart, she is also the one who made my amazing logo you can see on my channel.

Passionate about horror films, she loves drawing fanart of famous horror characters and fanmade pictures.

She also created a card game called Villain Clan.

In this second episode I introduce Abigail, a Cinema Manager with also some job experiences as Runner, Producer, Editor and Assistant Director.

She has a varied and curious background going from her BA (hons) in "Film and Television Production" to her promotion as manager.

Together we also talk about the current and tough situation that cinemas are facing in the middle of a pandemic, letting us think if cinemas are soon going back to normal.

She's currently involved in video editing for environmental activists.

And welcome to the first episode of MMM: Making Movies with Mattia, the podcast for the people who work or want to work into the entertainment industry.

In this first episode I am going to make a small introduction on what my show talk about and a presentation about me with a description of my job, my background and a tip I gave you at ending of the episode.

Just to let you know, this is my first episode and first time I talk in public through a podcast, so apologies if my talking and voice is not perfect yet. I will make sure to get better by the time, episode by episode.
