PIECES OF MY AFRICAN SOUL

PIECES OF MY AFRICAN SOUL

By Malelah

Hello, I am Jephtha Malelah. A Kenyan author, poet, film maker, travel enthusiast, human rights campaigner and social worker.
I am here to share with you my experiences growing up in Africa, travelling, creating art and working with communities. To tell the stories of young people working everyday to find their space in the world, stories of the older generation that lived in segregation and captivity, stories of hope.
I hope to join in fighting prejudice and to find love and peace, I hope to dream and to achieve. This is for me and for you. Let us take the journey together.

DEAR MAMA SUE

DEAR MAMA SUE

I recently lost a friend, a mother and a supporter. She was dear to me, to us. A lovely human being who loved with all her strength and was passionate about people and animals. This is one of the poems I wrote when I thought about how much I miss her. I know it is not the last I will write about her because there will never be enough pages to describe how much she meant to us. Rest easy Mama, till we meet again.

ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE; FILM REVIEW (MY THOUGHTS)

I am not a DC universe fan but this film got me going. The story line, the action sequence, the picture, the characterization, all is done and delivered so flawlessly. The four hours of it is worth it. On this episode, I share my general thoughts on the film, I hope you enjoy. Thank you.

IF WE SURVIVE THIS (PANDEMIC POETRY)

IF WE SURVIVE THIS (PANDEMIC POETRY)

The Corona Virus pandemic and the lockdown in 2020 almost drove us crazy. We lost family and friends, we lost jobs, our freedom, we almost lost ourselves but if you are here, you survived it. I wrote this poem with past memories and future prospects in mind. I hope it encourages you to keep keeping on. Thank you.

SEPTEMBER(A POEM) FT RENATO ZEPPI

SEPTEMBER(A POEM) FT RENATO ZEPPI

This is a special poem for two reason: I wrote it for someone I really was in love with. It was anticipation of a time when I would get to see them. Secondly, this specific episode is in collaboration with someone I really admire and love as artist and as a person, my pops Renato Zeppi. He is an amazing human being, funny, loving and caring. Based in Boston, USA, he is a seasoned musician too. The song in this episode is one of the many that he has composed. I hope that you enjoy. Thank you.

DEAR DAUGHTER: A SPECIAL DEDICATION

This episode is about a poem that is futuristic, a prophecy of the safe and better world that I(we) would want our daughters to grow up in. A world that will be against gender inequality, gender based violence, sexism and all the injustices that women have faced all through history. As I speak to my future daughter, I hope this episode speaks to you too.
