Throw out Perfect and Trade it in for Purpose
In this episode we break down the core skill of flexibility and discuss how by thinking with "purpose", rather than "perfect" in mind, we can be more intentional in our planning (cutting down procrastination and anxiety big time!), more prepared to make decisions when the unexpected arises, and more likely to pivot if needed! I also discuss strategies to teach flexibility in your classroom, in addition to what you can do to understand and improve your own ability to plan with flexibility in mind!

Emotional Safety in the classroom: Understand it, Plan for it, Build it.
The fact is that teachers are there to teach how to learn and to create the conditions to allow for learning to happen. In order to do this, we need to ensure that our students are in a safe space for learning.
In this episode I discuss emotional safety in the classroom as it relates to both teachers and students, broken down to the specific types of emotional safety:
- Feeling Safe.
- Pushing external boundaries, and feeling safe.
- Feeling safe enough to trust and challenge oneself.
Emotional safety is learned and developed along with our resilience, emotional intelligence, and life experience.
I explain practical ways in which we can develop emotional safety for our students and for ourselves.
Join me as we discuss the specifics of how to understand it, plan for it, and build it.

Overwhelmed? Start with a map.
How can you possibly plan for next year when we have no idea what it is going to look like due to the current COVID pandemic? Here I guide you through the steps of curriculum mapping. With a map, you will have a clear understanding of the goals that you want your students to hit and the way you are going to assess for that! No matter what the year brings, having a map will ensure that you understand the "why" you are teaching your students a certain topic and the "what" you are going to teach them, saving the "hows" for when we have a better idea of what school is going to look like. This will make preparing the "hows" much more purposeful, dramatically cutting down your lesson prep time. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, make a map and know where you are going!
