Man-To-Man

By Andy and Liam

Man-To-Man Podcast is strictly NBA talk, but with a twist. Both Andy and Liam bring a different vibe to the traditional sports talk show - Andy undoubtedly taking the wildcard role and Liam acting as a moderator. But what's the twist? Think about it - have you ever burst out laughing while listening to Adrian Wojnarowski (no disrespect to Woj) or Brian Windhorst? Man-To-Man not only brings you instrumental facts, predictions and analyzation to the table, but also cracks ridiculous jokes as well as creates a conversation between themselves and the listener. Enjoy!

Episode 51 - Bust A Move

Episode 51 - Bust A Move

In this week’s episode of Man-To-Man, the boys bust a move over to the Washington Wizards and analyze what seems to be the cause of their sluggish start to the season. Although their defensive scheme allows the most points against them in the NBA, they rank 6th in most points scored and allow the fewest at-rim attempts in the league. However, data shows that the substantial amount of scoring against them is due to an excessive amount of fouling, too many wide-open shots given to the offensive player, and players out with injuries. Opposing teams are shooting a whopping 65% from all distances against them which explains why they allow so many points scored. Moving along in the episode, the boys bust a move over to Boston as point guard, Kemba Walker, misses a signature step-back shot to give them the win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Lebron James and Anthony Davis put on a clinic - AD tallied 18 points and 12 rebounds in the first half, ultimately finishing with 27 points and 14 boards, and James polished 21 points, 7 boards, and 7 dimes on the night. Capping off the episode, the boys bust a move into their “Man-To-Man Worthy or Keep It Movin’” segment and briefly talk about the legendary, late Sekou Smith, Kobe Bryant, and the Indiana Pacers’ poor performance against the Charlotte Hornets with LaMelo Ball capturing his first kodak moment on a put-back dunk over All-Star, Domantas Sabonis. Tune in to hear more and leave us a review if you enjoy the episode!

Episode 47 - New Year, Nitty-Gritty, No Cap

This week on Man-To-Man the boys open up their first episode of 2021 with an expression of gratitude, appreciation and acknowledgement to those who have supported the show thus far. To show their appreciation, one lucky contestant from their Twitch giveaway was randomly chosen and will be eligible for their choice of merchandise in the Man-To-Man online shop (listen to the episode to find out - getcha damn merch)! Moving on, the NBA concluded its first week of regular-season basketball games, and there are some unexpected teams who are cooking, and others...well, not steaming at all. The Orlando Magic, Atlanta Hawks are off to a blazing start, but the Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, and Toronto Raptors seem to struggle with finding consistency on both ends of the floor. More questions arose with Paul George as he threw a corner pass to a referee leaving people to claim him as “Pandemic P” once again, and Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz was fined $25,000 for pushing referee Karl Lane. What did the refs do to deserve any of this? Tune in more to hear the boy’s hot takes around the league, who fits in where, and what certain teams have to do in order to make it over the hump. Enjoy!

Episode 38 - The Wheels Keep Turning

This week on Man-To-Man, Andy and Liam open up the show with respect to the Denver Nuggets for making NBA Playoff history overcoming a 3-1 deficit in both first and second rounds, ultimately giving themselves a chance to advance to the NBA Finals. But of course, like Jimmy Butler said in Game 6 against the Boston Celtics, “If you want to win in this league, you will have to face a Lebron James-led team. No other way around it.” The Nuggets’ miraculous come back streak fell short to the Lakers in the Western conference Finals in a final series score of 4-1, in which the Lakers will face a 12-3 Miami Heat team for all the marbles. Speaking of falling short, the boys talk about what went wrong with the Celtics, highlighting the lack of closing out games in the second half, which the C’s have no excuse in their pitiful performance given the fact the team has been to the Eastern Conference Finals the last three out of the four years. Will they make any big off-season changes? Moving forward, JR Smith is once again in headlines all thanks to rapper story Tory Lanez. In his most recent released songs on SoundCloud, Lanez is caught dissing Smith giving the narrative that Smith lacks the ability to hit shots. Andy is clearly team JR and speculates that Lanez is dissing Smith to gain clout - not to mention this is the same man who shot female rapper, Meg Thee Stallion in the foot a few months ago. Capping off the episode the boys talk about their continuous gambling addiction, noting that Andy finally placed himself back in the win column, while Liam is an impressive 17-2 in his last 19 bets. Enjoy the show, and most importantly share with your moms!

Episode 37 - Indiana University, Aelia Hassan

Episode 37 - Indiana University, Aelia Hassan

This week’s episode on Man-To-Man, Andy and Liam go Joe Rogan style and bring on another very special guest, Aelia Hassan. Currently a senior at Indiana University, Hassan is double majoring in informatics and sports media with a concentration in broadcast journalism, as well as facilitating a sports videographer and photographer for the Indiana Daily Student. The boys talk with Aelia about how she grew such a passion for sports growing up and where she wants to take her future as a sports reporter. Furthermore, the boys shoot the shit with Aeylia asking her questions like, “Netflix and chill or Amazon Prime and Bedtime?” and “Prettiest boy in the NBA, Devin Booker or Kelly Oubre?” Andy and Liam go into talks about the Clippers with Hassan and what went wrong in the series against the Denver Nuggets. Was Doc Rivers the problem, or was there not enough chemistry built for this first-year superstar Clippers team? To cap off the episode, the debate between Giannis and Lebron unravel as Andy believes Lebron should have received more votes, let alone have won the award. Liam believes the award needs to adjust and take the first two rounds of the Playoffs into consideration, but Aeylia speaks by the numbers and credit Giannis for winning back-to-back awards. Man-To-Man appreciates Aeylia for taking time out of her day to chat with us hope to have on again. Enjoy the show, and of course share with your moms. Namaste and Pacer Nation baby, AHA

Episode 33 - Cooked U, Next

This week’s episode on Man-to-Man, Andy and Liam began the show with speculation, zooming in and analyzing the first week of the NBA Playoffs. Andy’s prediction of the Portland Trail Blazers beating the Lakers in a 7-game series started off strong, but as expected after Game 1, Lebron activated “Playoff Mode” and cooked the Blazers in Game 2 and 3. Moving forward, uh hello? Michael Conley, you got something to tell us? Why does it look like you were the one who gave birth instead of your wife? Nonetheless, congratulations to the new baby daddy, and good luck to the newborn because trust me, you will not need it. Furthermore, “Game of the Week” goes to the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic, as he splashes a game-winner against the LA Clippers to tie the series 2-2. Someone may have to give Kawhi new batteries unless they want to lose in the first round. Doc Rivers, you can’t keep giving this guy Double A’s, premium oil is needed on a Ferrari to run smoothly. To cap off the episode, Jason Tatum wins, “Player of the Week,” cooking the Philadelphia 76ers and sending Brett Brown out of Philly. And, of course, the boys talk about their Pacers, coming to the realization that the Blue and Gold have a very good chance of being swept once again in the first round. With that being said, a new merch drop is here! Hit up one of the Man-To-Man boys to get your shirts. Enjoy the episode, and we’ll catch you next week.

Episode 32 - The Seeds Have Been Planted

Episode 32 - The Seeds Have Been Planted

This week’s episode on Man-To-Man, the boys open up with the big announcement of joining Dah Radio, and will be airing their episodes on the Nothin But Net Channel every Monday at 4pm est. Big shit poppin, and little shit stoppin as one might say. Furthermore, the seeds have been planted, and the NBA Playoffs are finally upon us. The boys break down each series’ matchups, but one series who seems to be the most intriguing is the Los Angeles Lakers against the red hot, Portland Trail Blazers. On the spot, Andy changes his mind about his premature decision of the Lakers winning it all, and now has the Trail Blazers upsetting the juggernaut team in the first round. Has Andy lost his mind, or is this a legitimate hot take? Moving into the “Man-To-Man Worthy or Keep It Movin’” segment, Andy and Liam hit the brakes on the topic of players being allowed to bring up to four guest into the bubble once the conference semifinals start. But, wait...Adam Silver has prohibited Instagram models?? Apparently, each player must prove a “long-standing relationship” with the guests they bring, but who knows, maybe players will find a loophole to sneak someone in. Sorry Lou Will, no Magic City entertainers this time. To cap off the episode, the boys break down the game and player of the week, giving the Trail Blazers and Damian Lillard the praise they deserve, as well as shouting out their Pacers for finishing strong in the bubble. Are you ready for some juice? Enjoy!

Episode 31 - Dinner Date with the Playoffs

Episode 31 - Dinner Date with the Playoffs

This week's episode on Man-to-Man, Andy and Liam pave the way by opening up with the finalists for each NBA Award, including Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, 6th Man of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, and Coach of the Year. The three finalists for this year's 2020 MVP award include reigning MVP Giannis Antektekunmpo, Los Angeles Lakers' Lebron James and James Harden of the Houston Rockets. Although Giannis is the frontrunner to win the award and become 1 of 11 back-to-win winners, Andy believes James deserves the award, simply due to the season he's had with the Lakers - resurrecting that franchise and leading them to the number one spot in the West. Moving along in the episode, the boys discuss the twitter beef amongst the two All-Stars, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and LA Clippers' Paul George and Partrick Beverly. After Lillard missed two free throws in clutch moments against the Clippers, Patrick Beverly and George showed what Lillard likes to believe is a sign of respect by teasing Lillard's miss free throws. Lillard responds in a post-game interview saying, "it's okay because I've sent both of them home before in the playoffs." George's wife and Lillard's sister begin to get personal over social media as George's wife calls Lillard's sister a "hating ass whore." Crazy stuff right? To cap off the episode, Andy and Liam once again praise TJ Warren as the player of the week, glorifying Warren's in-game presence against the Lakers, leading them to an overall win over the number one team in the West. As always, namaste and PacerNation baby, AHA!

Episode 30 - The Restart

Episode 30 - The Restart

This week’s episode on Man-to-Man, Andy and Hoop finally get to talk about REAL NBA basketball...well, almost real except for the virtual fans. Nonetheless, the boys opened up the show with the two games on opening night - the hungry New Orleans Pelicans vs the Utah Jazz, and the Los Angeles Lakers vs the LA Clippers. With Pelicans forward Zion Williamson placed on a minute-restriction, Williamson did not play the last eight minutes of the game, resulting in a two point win for the Jazz at the end regulation. Lebron James and the fully-loaded Lakers steal a win over the rosterless LA Clippers, as James grabs his own put-back rebound for the go-ahead bucket in the final minute of regulation. Clippers guard Paul George attempts a game winner in final seconds, but ricochets off the back iron. Hoop raises concerns for the Lakers as they seem to “lackluster” at times when leading in games. Andy concurs, but notes the Clippers aren’t a consistent team either, playing all season without a healthy roster. The boys transition into their `` Man-to-Man Worthy or Keep it Movin’” segment, discussing matters related to players and coaches kneeling or choosing to stand during the National Anthem. Andy says individuals on teams should be challenged to go back to their communities and donate money or get involved with educating clubs and organizations of lower-to-middle class people on how to vote, or donate money for children who are preparing for school providing them laptops and school supplies. To cap off the episode, we see our first 50 BURGER in the bubble. Was it James Harden? Was it Luka Doncic? No, it was TJ Warren of our very own Indiana Pacers. Warren proves he isn’t just worth cash considerations and also proves that he is someone to note worthy of being a franchise player in this league. Congrats to Warren, and Pacer Nation baby. Aha! Enjoy the episode!

Episode 29 - Magic City

Episode 29 - Magic City

This week's episode on Man-to-Man, Andy and Hoop discuss the many players who have recently left the bubble due to family emergencies, like Patrick Beverly and Montrez Harrell. On the other hand, Alex Caruso was left with the opportunity to attend his sister's wedding in Austin, Texas but decided to stay with the Lakers knowing the responsibility is greater now that Avery Bradley and Rajon Rondo are out. Furthermore, Andy and Hoop top off the "Man-to-Man Worthy or Keep it Movin'" segment with none other than reigning sixth man of the year, Lou Williams. Williams was another player who decided to recently leave the bubble due to the death of a close friend, but was then caught on Instagram attending the Magic City strip club in Atlanta shortly after the viewing. In consequence, Williams will have to quarantine for 10 days in the bubble without the reality of getting buckets with his team for the first two seeding games. Speaking of getting buckets, Bol Bol for the Denver Nuggets displayed an incredible debut, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 boards off the glass. Bol Bol seems to not only be a fan favorite, but also someone who the Nuggets will utilize more in upcoming games. To cap off the episode, the boys review the first two scrimmage games of the Indiana Pacers in their Pacers segment. Victor Oladipo seems to be getting his footing back and in game shape scoring 16 points in the second game against the Dallas Mavericks. Although Domantas Sabonis will exit the bubble due to a severe foot injury, the Pacers went 2-0 in the first two scrimmage games and continue to tread on in adversity. Enjoy!

Episode 28 - Hotline Bling

Episode 28 - Hotline Bling

This week’s episode on Man-To-Man, Andy and Liam wonder if JR Smith has received a blanket, talk about how the Lakers will fill the point guard guard position with Avery Bradley opting out the rest of the season and Rajon Rondo out for 6-8 weeks due to a fractured thumb, go through different topics in the ‘Man-To-Man Worthy or Keep it Movin’ segment, and cap off the episode with a new gambling segment called, “Who’s Hot & Who’s Not.” Kentavious Caldwell-Pope seems to be the next best option to run the point guard position for the Lakers as head coach Frank Vogel hinted to the media that he played exceptionally well earlier in the season when Avery Bradley was injured. Victor Oladipo is reconsidering his original decision of sitting out for the rest of the season due to prioritizing his health, as he tells the media there is a “strong possibility” he will return to the team once they hit the floor. James Harden’s contradictory mask quickly hits Twitter as Harden was seen entering the bubble with a Blue Lives Matter mask, but Harden expressed his cluelessness to the meaning of the mask and stating he wore it because he thought it looked cool. Who will we see start out strong? Should Oladipo return to the team or sit out for his future health? And, how much money will you lose once gambling on NBA games comes back to action? Enjoy!

Episode 27 - #BubbleLife

Episode 27 - #BubbleLife

This week on Man-to-Man, Andy and Liam talk about the protocol for players when first entering the bubble, and what #bubblelife actually looks like, as all 22 teams are officially settled into their hotels. We notice that some players have not fallin in love with their new hotel accommodations, comparing some rooms to a motel 6 and food to airport meals. Meyers Leonard and Patrick Beverly are two guys who seem to be enjoying themselves the most as Leonard is seen shot-gunning beer cans on Instagram and Beverly showcasing his never-ending collection of white tees. The Brooklyn Nets are a team that lost four players due to COVID, and seem a bit empty handed until their new additions Jamal Crawford and Michael Beasley clear a 6-7 day quarantine period, and then will be allowed to practice with the team. Liam’s hot take of the week consists of Crawford scoring 50 points in the first regular season game against the Orlando Magic. Not only will Crawford score 50 points once he says, but three times throughout the rest of the postseason. Capping off the episode, ESPN has suspended star reporter Adrian Wojnarowski after he replied “F--- you” in an email to U.S. senator, Josh Hawley. It has been reported that Woj will be suspended for two weeks by ESPN. The Mavericks have chosen to use the word, “Equality” on the back of their jerseys once the season restarts, but superstar players Lebron James and Dwight Howard have decided to use their last names instead. James felt like none of the key messages resonated with his overall mission, and Howard expressed the importance of his last name and what it means to himself and his family. What is Lebron’s mission? Winning a championship it seems to be. Enjoy!

Episode 26 - The NBA Returns, Wait You Positive?

Episode 26 - The NBA Returns, Wait You Positive?

This week on Man-to-Man, Andy and Liam begin the episode with the crucial loss of Avery Bradley, leaving a key defensive player out of the Lakers’ lineup for the remainder of the season. The forefront of this was ultimately wanting to remain with his family and watching over the well-being of the oldest of his 3 children, Liam who is recovering from a respiratory illness. On the top of that, the “Showtime” team may be losing Dwight Howard, as Howard is skeptical about the NBA bubble and if it’ll cause distractions to the social unrest going on in America. So, what did the Lakers do? They signed Henny God himself, Jr Smith! Smith will presumably play as a role player, giving star players a minute to rest on the bench. Next up, the newest addition to Man-to-Man, the boys add the segment, ‘Man-to-Man Worthy or Keep it Movin’? Adam Silver and the NBA are seemingly listening to the Player’s Coalition and taking action by allowing the players to wear social justice phrases on the back of their jerseys, as well as display the words, “Black Lives Matter” on the side of the court. Ending the episode, Andy and Liam raise speculation on how players will perform without their significant others. Of course,  to cap off the episode, Victor Oladipo will not return to the Pacers as he wants to continue to prioritize his health and doesn’t “feel comfortable” racing back into things with so much time off. Enjoy!

Episode 25 - Life On Disney World

Episode 25 - Life On Disney World

This week’s episode on Man-to-Man, Andy and Liam recap the conference call between NBA execs and owners, as well as players from the National Basketball Players Association, including key individuals like Kyrie Irving. Irving proposed that the players take a stand and not return to the NBA season - rather continue to fixate their energy on the BLM movement. Irving and other players like Los Angeles guard, Avery Bradley have teamed up with multiple other stars around the league to create a coalition and challenge not only NBA commissioner Adam Silver but also other league constituents – from the commissioner’s office, ownership level, management and the players association to act upon racial oppression and commit to donating to certain charities and challenge the league to come up with a detailed plan on issues of importance to the black community before the NBA’s restart in Orlando. Moving forward in the episode, the young studs examine bits and pieces of the “page health and safety protocol handbook” which includes a 113 page outline of rules and tips for players and teams while in the bubble. Certain rules like, “no doubles in ping pong, decks of cards will be disposed after each session, and a player may not visit another player in their hotel room” were just some of the points reviewed in the episode. Another big question about the restart is how many people will actually choose to play for their respected teams in Orlando? Indiana Pacers guard, Victor Oladipo is one to keep an eye out for as the season-restart gets closer. Oladipo in an interview, he plans to ramp up activity with the Pacers starting next week and evaluate his repair torn quad tendon prior to making a final commitment to playing in the seasons restart in Orlando. Other players like John Wall and Kevin Durant have already chosen to sit out the remainder of the season, but what about players who simply don’t want to return because of Irving’s point? Regardless, all we know is, the NBA is back. Enjoy.

Episode 24 - Questions of Uncertainty

Episode 24 - Questions of Uncertainty

This week, Andy and Liam continue the talk surrounding the return of the NBA season. There have been multiple players around the league that have voiced concerned about retuning to play. Kyrie Irving and Dwight Howard have been the top players that have made it public that they have real concern on the restart. The bigger question that arises is will the return of the NBA season take away from the the progress and the message of the Black Lives Matter movement.  Andy and Liam give their insights on the return of the NBA season, will the players use the national spotlight to express the necessary message surrounding the Social Injustice in America? The platform that is created from returning to play, will NBA players have the ability to refocus the message and speak on all the bigger issues or will the restart cloud the message? Starting the second half of the episode, NBA coaches might not be able to fully coach their team based on age, is this fair or is this age discrimination? To wrap up the episode we see Jokic from the Nuggets lose a noticeable amount of weight, NBA players are finally getting to the barber shop and getting a nice fresh cut, and Patrick Beverley gives the final vote to Lebron James, saying if he is playing then we all are playing.  Enjoy!

Episode 23 - ChanseFlash & Black Lives Matter

Episode 23 - ChanseFlash & Black Lives Matter

This specific episode on Man-to-Man, Andy and Liam sit down with Nashville artist and rapper ChanseFlash, who has hit an impressive 80,000 plus listens on his debut album titled, "The Blood Diamond." The purpose of the episode was to not only highlight a young and talented artist in the making, but to also allow a young black american male to share his perspective on life growing up and his thoughts around the chaos currently happening in the world. In the events of George Floyd's tragic murder and continuous police brutality, the conversation transitioned into a deeper discussion as Flash was generous enough to share his thoughts on the topic, as well as stories from his life that resulted in racial profiling, stereotypes, and social injustice. To cap off the episode, Andy and Liam convey the message that white americans need to increasingly do better as a whole and help our black communities to make a change in this country. Man-to-Man supports the BLM movement and has donated $50 to the George Floyd GoFundMe as all proceeds will go to the Floyd family (link below in description). To all of the Black communities out there - we hear you, we see you, and we stand with you. Power to the people - Rest in Paradise to George Floyd and the many other lives that have been taken away from us due to police brutality and social injustice. Enjoy.

Episode 22 - Bubble-licious, The NBA is Back!

Episode 22 - Bubble-licious, The NBA is Back!

This week around the NBA, Andy and Liam are excited to chat about the return of the NBA season starting July 31st. The vote has officially been approved by the NBA Board of Governors as a result of a 22-team return to be played in Orlando at the Walt Disney World Resort. The proposal includes a bubble-like scenario where all 22 teams will be in conjunction with each other, tested daily, and stay at the surrounding hotels. Room service will not be provided, showers at the arenas after games will be excluded, and seats will be empty. With a 22 team return, 13 teams in the West and 9 teams in the East will battle it out for the top 8 spots with a remainder of 8 regular season games left to play, along with an AAU-like style play requiring teams to play at least one back-to-back game. The last possible date for the NBA season to end will be October 12, only if a Game 7 in the Finals were to be played. With that being said, no, this will not look normal and there are still multiple uncertainties, but optimism within the league remains hopeful as they put their trust in NBA commissioner Adam Silver. Enjoy.

Episode 21 - NBA Covid-19 Updates, Diss Track, & MJ Documentary

Episode 21 - NBA Covid-19 Updates, Diss Track, & MJ Documentary

This week, Andy and Liam inform their listeners on the latest updates in regards to the NBA season returning. The two popular options that have been proposed to the league and NBA commissioner Adam Silver is the the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida and MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Having games played in Orlando appears to be the front-runner as of now, but per Silver, "anything is still on the table." The boys transition into Aaron Gordon's unanticipated diss track about Dwayne Wade called, "9 Out of 10" due to the controversial 2020 Slam Dunk Contest. Wade was one of the judges who scored Gordon's last dunk over Tacko Fall a 9 out of 10, robbing Gordon out of another slam dunk trophy. To cap off the episode, Andy and Liam cover the highlights of the chart-topping, 10 part-series Michael Jordan documentary titled, "The Last Dance" all the way up until episode 6 as there are 4 more episodes that have yet aired. Hope you enjoy!

Episode 20 - Easter Sunday

Episode 20 - Easter Sunday

This week, Andy & Liam begin the episode giving praise and thanks to their savior Jesus Christ as Easter Sunday comes to a wrap. In addition, the boys continue to discuss the trampling effects of COVID-19 and how the virus is leading to a foreseeable closure on the NBA season. Due to social distancing controlling every day lives, the viral meme, "Choose Your Quarantine House" has become a popular hit on all social media platforms, which encouraged Andy & Liam to take part in the hype - "NBA Style." With attention to the temporary closure of the NBA, NBA2K created its own live action, with the Players Tournament with NBA player showing their skills on the sticks with $100,000 dollars on the line. Wrapping up the episode, Andy gives his conspiracy theory on the Coronavirus, believing there will be a new world order in the near future.

Episode 19 - Garrison Mathews "Professional Shooter"

Episode 19 - Garrison Mathews "Professional Shooter"

This week Andy and Liam have the opportunity to interview their first professional NBA player, Garrison Mathews, shooting guard for the Washington Wizards. Given the season's indefinite suspension by Adam Silver, Mathews had some extra time to talk about his journey of making it to the NBA coming from a small, mid-major school. When asked about his accolades in college, he emphasized the importance of being a team player and how much the coaches, mentors, and teammates he's had have impacted his success. With the intention of making a full time roster spot on the Wizards, the nickname "Professional Shooter" has given birth as Mathews dropped a career-high 28 points against a young and talented Miami Heat team. Playing alongside multiple superstars on the Wizards, Mathews talks about going one-on-one against John Wall in practice and how guarding Bradley Beal has increased his defensive-play drastically. Rounding out the interview, Andy and Liam ask Garrison what his future looks like moving forward. His answer? Mathews believes he is a full time roster-spot guy, and so do we.

Episode 18 - NBA Deals with Corona, A Community Coming Together, & The Rudy Gobert Situation
