Every week we will discuss an event, person or analyze a culture/business/life phenomenon to determine how to grow. You Can Be A Coach Right Now. w/ CEO, Coach & Podcaster Erin Marcus

You Can Be A Coach Right Now. w/ CEO, Coach & Podcaster Erin Marcus

The holiday season has began and Thanksgiving has just occurred. While we sit in lines for Black Friday, I want to remind us of everything we felt on Thanksgiving - connection to each other as humans and loved ones. On this episode of Man Versus Brand, we speak with Erin Marcus. Erin is the founder and CEO of Conquer Your Business, an international company helping driven entrepreneurs and small business owners get the financial and emotional freedom they need to build a business and a life they're proud of. Erin empowers her clients with practical skills and strategies to excel in their business, industry, and markets. Having made the successful leap from corporate executive to entrepreneur, Erin uses that experience, her MBA education, and street-smart upbringing to help her clients reach heights they never dreamed possible. It is this leap that we uncover in the episode. We discuss how can you use the skills you have built to become a full-time coach. Erin speaks about her journey into entrepreneurship and coaching. We also discuss the mindset, pricing, strategy, client acquisition necessary for you to be successful in the coaching space. Erin also hosts the podcast "Ready Yet?!" which features experts, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders across multiple disciplines discussing various topics to help entrepreneurs successfully launch and scale their businesses.

Quote of the Episode: "This is something I watch over and over again. It breaks my heart too because I have seen great people fall into this trap. This goes back to my conversation about insta-tactics. Why the insta-tactics don't work. One of the very well marketed tactics is speaking. They are amazing coaches out there, doing amazing things teaching you how to speak and how to sell from the stage. There's an art to it, I personally use this skill, so I'm not saying the tactic is wrong. But I have watched several really great human beings get really good selling from the stage. However, not to great on delivering on their promise." - Erin Marcus on relying on sales but not follow-up

Be Happy. w/ Transformational Coach Will Samson

Be Happy. w/ Transformational Coach Will Samson

In Celebration of my 75th Episode, I have three episodes on earning money and being happy while podcasting dropping this week. I will drop one episode every other day.

As a part of our “Start a Business. Make Money Online. Be Happy” creators series, on this episode of The Man Versus Brand podcast, we speak to coach, speaker, podcast host of A Revolution of Interdependence and author Will Samson. We discuss how you can overcome adversity and find the strength to start over. Will is on a mission to disrupt the self-help industry and possibly alter the human operating system as a transformative coach. We discuss his transformational mindset and change practices, using the same strategies he uses to coach who guide tech companies, C-Suite executives, and entrepreneurs to amazing levels of growth. Will is the brains behind the T3 ecosystem, a collection of hackers, thinkers, activists, and dreamers who are sprouting new ideas, stories, and products based on the idea of interdependence. His story of rebooting his life was told to the TEDx audience in 2021. If you want to discover how to change your life course and embrace happiness, this is the episode for you.

Quote of the Episode: "Eventually I think most of those false identities, attempts at identity deconstruct and fall apart on their own. Now there are some people who carry out cons, long cons and fake identities for decades but generally speaking those things tend to fall apart and I think because….there is this strong link between who say we are and what we are able to do, eventually if who we sat we are, isn’t consistent with who we say we are, then our habits are and who we say we are will eventually fall apart." - Will  Samson on performative identity

Grow Your Small Business w/ Government Contracts with Coach & Consultant Rick Howard

Grow Your Small Business w/ Government Contracts with Coach & Consultant Rick Howard

How to scale your business by supplying the government with valued and needed good and services. The average small business owner selling to the government makes $2.35M a year. Most people are unaware that the government is mandated to buy from small businesses, that they are the biggest purchaser of goods and services in the world, and that they buy everything from Tai Chi and wellness trading to cybersecurity and piano lessons. On this episode of The Man Versus Brand podcast, we speak with the Founder & CEO of DoD Contract Academy and the Host of DoD Contract Academy Podcast, consultant and coach Richard A.Howard. Richard, known to his friends and colleagues as Rick, found himself in the Armed Forces living his dream. Richard discovered while he was flying airplanes for the Armed Forces, that his son had been diagnosed with cancer. This forced Richard to shift into a different sector and there he put companies on contract for the DoD. After 20 years in the US Armed Forces, Rick and his company’s mission is to now use that experience he had in procurement for the government to help small business owners and entrepreneurs win government contracts. In this episode we discuss how to scale your business by leveraging government contracts for your small business’ growth. We debunk misconceptions around the government contract process and give you a clear path forward to growing your business through those contracts.

Quote of the Episode: “So let’s say your a women owned small business or a service disabled veteran own business, a minority or AA owned business, now there are even further set aside contracts for these types of companies.” Rick Howard discussing competition in gaining government contracts.

Entrepreneurs Are Made Through Experiences Like Yours. w/ Tweva Entrepreneur David Van Beekum

How to harness your entrepreneurial mindset to succeed at any task, on any team, in any organization, or to start your own business. On this episode of The Man Versus Brand podcast, we speak with the Co-Founder & Creator of Tweva (tweva), the world's first social TV network for small businesses and influencers, entrepreneur David Van Beekum. David is a man of many talents. He is a digital marketing guru, start-up enthusiast, and tech expert. Dave is the best person to discuss how we can best. Despite being more of an introvert, Dave has been a driving force behind Tweva's success, working tirelessly on software development, databases, automation, 3D printing, robots, and AI. Introverts aren't the typical prototype for what we think about who can be entrepreneurs. Dave's story is more like yours and mine and less like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and other megastar entrepreneurs. Yet, we can still incrementally get there. After the death of one of the co-founders, Dave realized it was time to step out of his comfort zone and share his wealth of knowledge with others. David became an entrepreneur due to circumstances. He found a problem that he needed to solve. Balancing the challenges of running a start-up with a family, Dave is currently focused on securing a 2.2 million dollar investment for Tweva while driving traction with local businesses on the platform. It's a tricky balancing act, but Dave's passion for helping small businesses succeed is unwavering. This episode is for small business owners, inventors, leaders, and entrepreneurs. Tune in to hear about his experiences, insights, and advice for anyone looking to succeed in start-ups and small businesses.

What Are You Manifesting With The Law Of Attraction w/ Author and Law Of Attraction Coach Zehra Mahoon

What Are You Manifesting With The Law Of Attraction w/ Author and Law Of Attraction Coach Zehra Mahoon

How correctly or incorrectly employing the Law of Attraction may be directing your life, finances, family and business.

Have you ever asked for things to manifest in your life and immediately saw a positive result? Or, maybe the opposite - you asked for something to happen in your life and it feels like everything but your desire keeps appearing. Keep attracting the same wrong partner? Keep finding yourself in the same toxic situations? Or, does it sometimes feel like things happen to you, instead of you taking control and directing your life, it feels like life is full of accidents? Do you want to know why you get some outcomes you want, others you don’t or are surprised by the rest? If any of these statements or questions resonate with you, then this is the episode to check out!

Today, on the Man Versus Brand podcast, we talk about the Law of Attraction, what happens when we dream, understanding the Universe, God and Law of Attraction as concepts, manifesting reality, mistakes we make in how and what we attract, how to attract with intent and awareness and shifting our minds to better thinking.

We speak with author and Law of Attraction coach Zehra Mahoon. Owner of the Unlimited Life, Zehra Mahoon’s mission is to guide others to stop making the mistakes that are preventing them from their success and ultimate joy by teaching them the power of the Law of Attraction based on her signature Heart and Mind Alignment Method. She is the author of sixteen books on these subjects and the creator of the Unlimited 40 day law of attraction workbook and support group. After committing to completely transforming her self-worth in 2006, she went from being massively in debt to owning multiple properties and creating a thriving business, as well as healing her relationships. She shares her personal journey to help people understand the power of reclaiming their self-worth. Zehra’s courses and programs help individuals to identify the blockages that are keeping them from loving themselves, and regaining their self-worth so that they can achieve success and start living life on their own terms.

Sound good? Ready? Let’s go!!

Quote of the Episode:”The biggest mistake that people make with using Law of Attraction is that they keep asking over and over and over again for the same thing. They ask through their prayers. They ask through their visualizations. They keep asking the universe all the time. When you ask all the time, that’s not asking, that’s complaining.” Zehra Mahoon on common mistakes you can fix right now in how you manifest through Law of Attraction.

Exploring The Gratitude Business Part Two w/ RE Agent, CEO & Entrepreneur Steve Buzogany

Exploring The Gratitude Business Part Two w/ RE Agent, CEO & Entrepreneur Steve Buzogany

How you can scale your gratitude and thankfulness by using gifts and acts of kindness to do the heavy, intimate lifting. We all have a mission. For some, the mission in life is to bring gratitude to as many people as possible in the form of relationship building. Can that extend to business? I believe so. So does Steve Buzogany. Steve’s goal is to live inside the minds of his customers 365 days of the year. Steve is the founder and CEO of The Appreciation Advocate, a company that uses gift-giving to generate more referrals for small businesses. Since 2012, Steve has been a small business owner who focused his business around one thing...building deep and meaningful relationships. By doing so, he was able to sell nearly $100M worth of real estate working 3-4 days a week and while taking off 1-2 months per year.  Today, Steve helps other small businesses quickly stand out among the crowd, build deep and substantive relationships, eliminate burnout, take more time off, generate more referrals, increase income, and have more fun in their career. If you wonder how you can better position yourself and your business to gain referrals through appreciation, this is the episode for you. If you are concerned that you may poison your best customer relationships and prevent referrals, you should listen to the conversation we have. Let’s talk gift giving and how the practice can help you right now!!!

Quote of the Episode: “Do give yourself some grace. Sometimes people are just busy, so they just can’t get around to say thank you for whatever reason. Now for me, thank you is priority number one all of the time. If someone sends me a gift, first thing I’m going to do is call them, text them, send them a video, some form of acknowledgement of that, but most of society does not do that.”  Steve Buzogany on people

Topics Covered:

  • Thankfulness

  • Creating referrals

  • Turning your gratitude into profit

  • Work less and build a stronger business

I Had to Escape A Self Help Community To Find My Sense of Self w/ Media Company Founder Alundas Havens

I Had to Escape A Self Help Community To Find My Sense of Self w/ Media Company Founder Alundas Havens

How to find your sense of purpose while finding your sense of self. Alundas Havens is a Marine Corps Veteran and the founder of Alpha Influence Media. Originally from Fresno, California, Alundas endured physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and created mental barriers to keep himself “safe” from the world. In this episode of The Man Versus Brand podcast, we speak to Alundas about his upbringing and how that formed his life outlook and drove him to joining the Marines. The Marine Corps allowed Alundas to realize that he had been trapped in a box where he had limited beliefs and didn’t understand simple life concepts, not sufficiently growing into who he was supposed to be. ALundas then began seeking out communities to grow his leaderships skills, find his voice and succeed. Through trial and error, Alundas eventually found his network, but during that time, he was brought into a self help and leadership community that ultimately had to escape. In this episode we talk about mindset, tools to succeed, addiction, trauma, coping mechanisms and how Alundas is helping people who battle to improve and calibrate their mindset.

Quote of the Episode:

“To start healing how you need to, start filling in those holes, where maybe I didn’t have those things and that’s the hardest part to do. To tap into that inner self, when you start healing that. Even when you work on yourself and notice something else has popped up. You realize you have to work on this to get to the next part.” Alundas on the healing process.

Healing the Divide Within Us w/ Author Charles Holley

In this episode, we speak to Charles Holley, author of the book, "Black & White: Healing Racial Divide,"  about his own encounters with overcoming racism, experiencing Jim Crow and segregation on The Man Versus Brand Podcast. We will discuss reconciling his own childhood self-doubts and feelings of inferiority that stemmed from growing up during a time where his blackness was deemed problematic.

Charles is a Speaker and Author who specializes in Employee Engagement and Racial Healing. He a 30-year business professional who works in the technology field as a Senior Engineer. Charles was born the 17th sibling of poor sharecroppers in North Alabama during the civil rights movement. As a child, he suffered from low self-esteem and a severe speech problem, but overcame it to become the first college graduate. He married his college sweetheart and they has two children but their young son suddenly died. Charles credits his son's death with his success as a speaker and writer. Quote of the Episode: “We have to go thousands of years into our past, and see how our ancestors lived. How they interacted with each other, way back then. Even way back then, thousands of years, this is pre Trans-Atlantic slave trade, we were fighting each other. There was racism amongst each other. Some of it would be based on clans and tribes but some of it was based on skin color too.” Charles on the discussion of  harboring racist ideas while being of that same race.

Are You Board? Start A Game Business w/ Tim Swindle and Scott Brown

Are You Board? Start A Game Business w/ Tim Swindle and Scott Brown

How to create and profit from a winning idea, learning from two entrepreneurs that have crafted hit games. Have you ever thought to yourself that you had an idea what could win? You knew this idea could change the landscape of an industry and all you would need to do is bring the idea to market. On this episode of Man Versus Brand, we talk to Tim Swindle and Scott Brown, the creators of the wildly successful game Paddle Smash about their journey. Scott Brown & Tim Swindle are the creators of PaddleSmash, a new outdoor active game that combines elements of Pickleball and Spikeball.

Scott Brown is the co-founder of Marbles: The Brain Store, a retail concept focused on building better brains through play, which eventually grew to 40 stores, a website, a catalog business and a proprietary product division. While there, he headed the curation of all store products and formed Marbles: Brain Workshop, overseeing the creation of more than 150 proprietary products.

Tim Swindle is an entrepreneur and investor, helping build and exit multiple companies. As an early investor and employee at PointDrive, a Chicago-based sales software company, he led operations before the company was acquired in 2016 by LinkedIn. During this time, Tim created Utter Nonsense, an entertaining card game that was quickly carried by several retailers and ultimately within all 1,800 Target stores. Utter Nonsense was acquired in 2017 by private equity backed, PlayMonster.

We discuss what it took to create the game, their journey as business partners and the landscape of outdoor and board games right now!

It’s an episode worth checking out.

Quote of the Episode: “Tim covered it really well. This is the cliche. The Mike Tyson quote that, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” We are trying to get a legally bound plan in place, so that we are ready when the punches start happening. I think Tim is a bit right in that you don’t have to worry about a contract until it’s bad but I also think you have to (have a plan), when it's going really well. When things are going well, people can get greedy, and it’s nice to just know there is a plan in place to get that sorted through.” Tim and Scott speaking on contracts, partnerships and protecting your business and business relationships.

Quote of the Episode:

“It goes so far back, when we have this conversation, I hear this all the time with people that I coach. They say, my parents didn't know or they didn’t educate us on this stuff. But they didn’t know. How could they educate you on something that they didn’t know themselves? So, it’s no real blame. Somebody at some point has to say enough is enough. The information is out there, you have to channel in the right direction to get the information. But we have to recognize there is a smarter way, a more efficient way. And say, hey we can do this.” - On the topic of financial literacy and misinformation that bars families and generations from wealth

Sex, Drugs and Jesus In The Same Sentence w/ Author and Veteran De'vannon Hubert

How one man came to understand his life through the lens of religion, addiction, salvation and relationships. From this understanding, he was able to flourish.

Author De’Vannon Hubert served in the Armed Forces and found his way into drug addiction, homelessness and a crisis of faith over his sexuality. In his book, Sex, Drugs and Jesus, a memoir about his struggles, De’Vannon writes with full transparency about his life and how these concepts are related to him  I read the book and was really moved by his story.  Join us on the Man Versus Brand podcast as we talk to De’Vannon about his experiences and how he has come to host his own show: The Sex, Drugs and Jesus Podcast and own Down Under Apparel which embraces all forms of body positivity. From graduating Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to today, De’Vannon has one thing that has helped him through his journey - his undying, personal faith. Ready to talk about it? Let’s go!

Life isn't easy but it's worth it.

Quote of the Episode:

“Now the people who think less of people, those of us who have HIV, or have some other physical ailment, they are not very far along in their journey. That sort of thinking is very low on the vibration scale. It does not come from a positive, loving space. For someone to think like that it gives us a peek into their soul which is not very bright. - On the topic of discrimination and De-Vannon’s lived experience.

I Grew Up White Until I Discovered My Black History w/ Acclaimed Playwright, Author & Actor Michael Fosberg

How our understanding of our own identity, race, ethnicity can change and how we can advocate to be seen as all of our parts and not only the most obvious. Acclaimed playwright, actor and author of the books, "Incognito: An American Odyssey of Race and Self-Discovery" and "Nobody Wants to Talk About It; Race, Identity and the Difficulties in Forging Meaningful Conversations”, Michael Fosberg has written about his lived experience around race and identity. See, Michael found out well into his life, that his father was African American. This wouldn’t seem odd except Michael doesn’t quite fit the physical profile of a biracial person. On this Black History Month episode of Man Versus Brand, we discuss the often unspoken experience of identity revelation, specifically as it relates to finding out you are black. What does that look and feel like? I don’t know but Michael is here to share his story, engage in meaningful conversation and we are glad for it. We also talk about how his experience has informed his artistic and diversity/inclusion work. It’s not one to miss. Check out this episode now.

Quote of the Episode:

“When I first did the play, I just thought I was telling my story. I didn’t really think about the implications because they are just so many different things. The story is just as much about family secrets as it is about privilege as it is about race as it is about all these other things. Every family has a secret. I’ve found that out. - On the topic of writing the works on race, identity and Michael’s lived experience.

Be Thankful In All Things w/ Author, Meditation Coach & Non-Profit Director Antonio Hairston

Be Thankful In All Things w/ Author, Meditation Coach & Non-Profit Director Antonio Hairston

How finding and affirming gratitude can improve your business, life, relationships and world view, especially in tough times, through grief and in discovering joy. The Bible has a verse in Thessalonians 5:18 that states, “In all things give thanks”. Whether you subscribe to holy texts, believe in higher powers or the workings of the universe, we can all agree that being thankful and showing gratitude is paramount to living a healthy, well-balanced life. That doesn’t just pertain to when things are great. Sometimes, we have to find gratitude in loss, in depression and in grief. In this episode, I pod with Antonio Javar Hairston about gratitude. The episode takes place after Thanksgiving but before Giving Tuesday. See Antonio is not only a two time author, he is a meditation coach and the founding director of the non-profit organization I Am King. So if you want to discuss thankfulness, Thanksgiving, grief, meditation, the power of focus and honing our connection to our ancestors, this is definitely the episode for you.

Antonio Javar Hairston believes in higher purpose.

Quote of the Episode: “I’m just going to stop, I’m going to pause, I’m going to take ten minutes. Set a timer, I’m going to take ten minutes to write down ten or fifteen things I am grateful for. I’m going to write down twenty things that I’m grateful for right now. Not what things are going to come that I am thankful for or haven’t come or came  to pass. Right now what am I thankful for, And if you sit there for those ten minutes or fifteen minutes…you will begin to notice and invite the energy of gratitude into your life.: Antonio Hairston on Activities to Recognize Gratitude

The Key To Leading In Life Is To Transform Your Own, First. w/ Mindset & Meditation Coach Lion Goodman

The Key To Leading In Life Is To Transform Your Own, First. w/ Mindset & Meditation Coach Lion Goodman

How to change your mindset and perspective to become the person you want to be, build the community you’re searching for, and be a stronger leader. Lion Goodman believes in the power of transformation. This belief is grounded in the idea that human beings have the capacity to overcome their own negative and limiting belief systems to become their better selves. This disciplined act of transformation and self realization then can be taught to others, creating a movement of change. In this episode, I talk to Lion about transformation and overcoming limiting belief systems, specifically as it pertains to leadership, race and marginalized people. We explore possible answers to the question, can you truly remove limiting belief systems in societies that reinforce those limits everyday. Because, for many, everyday is a struggle to be seen with worthiness and value, so what does transformation and realization look like for them? In this episode we talk about influences on your mindset via parenting, intention, inclusion, religion and behavior. Can’t have a talk about transformation without a good caterpillar to butterfly reference, so listen now to hear ours.

Quote of the Episode:

“Transform means to change form. Now if you have a realization in a workshop, an aha, I now know where my wound came from, that’s groovy, thats a realization but until its transformed at the core of the psyche, then it’s just that, a realization. You can have an aha….see the world differently for a minute, an hour, two hours or sometimes two weeks but if it (your perspective) goes back to the way it was, then you have not transformed...  ” Lion on transformation and the mindset improvement industry.

Build A Life Of Excellence On Your Own Terms w/ Author and Speaker Rael Bricker

How embracing discipline, drive, and determination can lead you to your best life regardless of the circumstances you are confronted with. Maya Angelou once said, “The desire to reach for the stars is ambitious. The desire to reach hearts is wise.” This is true for any endeavor we undertake, especially when we do self-work. Our lives will be shaped by what we want, but our ultimate greatness will be determined by those who we affect. In this episode, we speak to attorney Dara Rosenbaum, founding partner at Rosenbaum and Taylor, about developing trusted partnerships. We not only discuss how attorneys can support your business goals and demystify the law for you, but we also cover how to let go of the reins and give some of the responsibility of your business to subject matter experts. It’s hard work to build a mutual, trusting relationship, but vetting and asking the right questions can help establish your expectations and their competence from the start. Let’s discuss how it can be done.

That's why I'm talking to spiritual coach and shaman Martin Theis about accessing learning from all things. As part of my "Wellness Series," we question if all things are created by a Creator, then we can learn wellness from both oceans and teachers, right? Let's discuss.
