Hi and welcome to another episode of my podcast. Today I was delighted to be joined by Kim who is a Childen's author and Paula who is an ilustrator who work on Kims great books together, the first in the series is called A Butterfly Tail. Here is their bio's thanks for listening and watching.

Kim lives in New Jersey, USA and is a mother to two teenage boys. With her eldest off to college and youngest a Junior in High School, Kim is dedicating more time to her dream of being a children’s book author. Her first book, ‘To Be Free’ is part of a series called ‘A Butterfly’s Tale’. The story is about an endearing butterfly who lives in a tree and is afraid to fly. It captivates children’s imaginations and tells a story about friendship and courage. Kim is excited to release the second book within the next year. She hopes to continue her journey and spend more time in schools and libraries reading to children and allowing them into her world of storytelling.

Paula Piechna loved art and drawing all her life. She was good at math since she was a child, so she was always pushed in that direction. She is an engineer by education. But she always felt that something was missing. After giving birth to her second child, she decided to stick her nose out of her comfort zone and spread her wings. Currently, she combines caring for children with working as an illustrator of children's books. With her work, she wants to put smiles on the faces of children and adults and touch their hearts.

Hi and welcome to another episode of my authors Tuesday podcast interview with author Lucy O'Callaghan, it was great to talk to Lucy all about her writing and her awsome novel which is out today The Lies Beneath. Here is Lucy's bio, enjoy all.

Lucy O’Callaghan’s bio.

Lucy is originally from Yorkshire but met a Galway man at university in Wales and moved to the West of Ireland. She studied English Studies and Philosophy and travelled some of the world before embarking on teaching English.

Motherhood to two boys and a girl distracted her from her career for a long time and she enjoyed working in the home. Courses in journalism and writing fiction kept her creative brain ticking over. Writing stories at first for her children, she moved towards contemporary women’s fiction. A self-confessed people watcher, stories that happen to real people have always fascinated her.

Lucy owned and managed a preschool for 16 years, teaching 2 to 5-year-olds. She has been a member of both in-person and online writing groups for many years. To further immerse herself in the writing world, Lucy has, in recent years, completed courses in several areas of publishing including copywriting and editing.

Lucy writes a weekly Really Useful Links column for writing.ie aimed at finding the best advice out there for various aspects of writing. From plotting v pantsing, world-building, scene description, and character traits, to working through the saggy middle, her columns have all areas covered. She also writes regular feature interviews with literary agents.

When not writing, Lucy can be found walking the beaches of Ireland and exploring her favourite Burren hills alongside her husband and dog. These walks are often when the best story ideas come to mind, and plot problems are teased out and fixed. She also likes to rearrange her purple pens and purple notebooks, and line up her collection of elephants (not real).

The Lies Beneath, is her first novel, published by Poolbeg. With two more books on the way, Lucy is thoroughly enjoying her writing journey so far!

Podcast Interview with Author Ruth O'Leary

Ruth O’Leary is from Dublin and works as a freelance movie- extra playing roles from a nun to a Viking and everything in between. She always carries a notebook and pen on set to scribble down notes between takes.

Her short stories have been published in two of Ireland’s National publications, Woman’s Way and Ireland's Own Magazine. She has also had a memoir piece published online in Childlike and articles published in Writing.ie and in a local, regional paper. She has read her short stories at Shorter Stories live reading events in Dublin. Ruth also writes a Travel and Writing blog called Rambling Ruth and you can find that on her website, rutholearywriter.com.

Her debut novel The Weekend Break is published by Poolbeg Books and will be in all bookshops from 04 March and is available to order online now. This is the first in a three-book deal. She is represented by Kate Nash of Kate Nash Literary Agency, London.

Interview with Author Tom Fitzgerald

Hi and welcome to this episode of my podcast, today I was delighted to be joined by another excellent Author Tom Fitzgerald, big thanks to him for coming on and thanks as alway to all my listeners and people watching on YouTube. Here is some information about Tom. Im from Askeaton in Co Limerick and I’ve always wanted to be a published writer but never had the time to pursue my dream until the last few years. When I was in my early twenties, I enrolled on a correspondence course entitled ‘How to Become a Writer’ but life took me in a different direction. The desire to write was always gnawing at me, so to keep my hand in through the decades, I completed creative writing classes at Listowel Writers Centre, Limerick Writers’ Centre, and Askeaton Secondary School. Since I began investing time in writing, I have completed two books for children which I hope to publish, two adult novels and I’ve had short stories published in the Limerick Writers Centre Anthologies in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and had Christmas Stories included in West Limerick Radio’s Christmas Miscellany for the last three years. I’ve been a regular contributor to the letters page of the Irish Examiner for many years and have entered stories in various short story competitions for children and adults. I’m from a family of ecclesiastical decorators whose roots can be traced back at least five generations, and I can credit parts of my creativity in no small way to the meticulous nature my extended family applied to their work and the pride they had in their trade and craftsmanship. It undoubtedly fostered patience and a desire for perfection, two necessary parts of writing. My work as a painter /decorator and my involvement in sport in Limerick County and City gave me a great opportunity to meet a broad spectrum of people who have enriched my life and fed my creativity. The catalysts for me completing my first two novels, Underbelly in 2022 and the Truth About Lies in 2023 were the second Covid wave and a triple by pass operation I underwent in 2021. Both events gave me time and incentive ( in the latter case) to resurrect the book I had been writing for years which had a working title of Friends and Neighbours. When I go into the editing, I realised I had enough material to split the book and make two of it. I did and now I have two books published by the Limerick Writers Centre.

Sharon Black is an Irish writer of warm, witty women’s fiction at Poolbeg Books, and her romantic comedy debut, ‘The Last Saturday in July’ was published October 5, 2023 on Amazon as a digital book and print-on-demand.
A recovered journalist, she is a member of Writing.ie, has published short stories in women’s magazines and has placed in various short story competitions. She is both a Writers Ink and Curtis Brown Creative alumna, and was long-listed for the 2023 Retreat West ‘Opening Lines’ Competition.
When she’s not writing, she reads, walks, sees friends and drinks a lot of Italian coffee. She is an active member of a long-running book club in her village, where books and wine are consumed in roughly equal amounts. She loves theatre, old Hollywood films, every romantic comedy ever made and edgy stand-up.

In recent years, she has developed an unnaturally close relationship with Google Maps, thanks to her appalling sense of direction. She is highly allergic to shopping. Except for bag shopping.

Authors Tuesday Episode with Author Diarmuid Fitzgerald

Was great to welcome Diarmuid on to my show tonight. Big thanks to all my listeners enjoy the episode. Diarmuid Fitzgerald grew up in Ireland. He is a writer, teacher, healer and public speaker. He writes poetry and has had three collections of poetry published by Alba Publishing (www.albapubishing.com) The books are called Thames Way (2015), A Thousand Sparks (2018) and The Singing Hollow (2021). Thames Way and A Thousand Sparks are haiku poetry while The Singing Hollow is regular poetry. His poems are on the themes of nature, LGBT life, body issues, exercise and personal growth pains. He has written a novel and got help to have this novel edited. He has put the novel to one side for the moment. He has won prizes, grants and awards. He works as a teacher. Diarmuid is a licensed Reiki Healer and is trained in life coaching NLP. Diarmuid is passionate about using creative writing and he has taught creative writing workshops. He helps people find their inner voice. Diarmuid believes that creative writing can allow the soul to sing and to help heal deep wounds. He uses creative writing to look at the shadow aspected of himself and use that in a constructive way to help him heal and get work written. He also help writers scrub up their work to a level ready for publication. Diarmuid identifies as gay and he uses his writing to express the feelings of this sometimes marginalised group. He took part in many campaigns to bring about greater equality. Diarmuid is dyslexic and he has used this to his advantage to using his creative powers to connect in with his guides and to write from a higher level. After experiencing rejection many times he learned how to craft his work and get published. Diarmuid trained with Betty Cosgrave for NLP and Life Coaching, Patricia McLoughlin for Reiki, Joy Wisdom for DARE and Light Healing and Kim Calvert for personal development. Authors Tuesday Episode with Marci G Cox

Hi all thanks for tuning into my interview with Author Marci G Cox. Was excellent talking to Marci on the show today.

In 2018 Marci was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer,while undergoing an aggressive course of treatment, which included a double mastectomy without reconstruction surgery, chemotherapy which resulted in complete hair loss and everything else related to the cancer, she spoke to her daughters openly and in a way that they could understand her disease and not feel threatened about possibly losing their mother. Marci’s experiences and the way she fought through the difficult days of treatment led to writing this book about communicating a diagnosis of cancer to her daughters and how others with the same condition can convey the ultimate message being “Mommy may look different, and it will take time for Mommy to heal – but in the end, she will get better!”

Once Mommy Has a Boo-Boo was written other books and journals followed. Marci found a passion for helping women going through a breast cancer diagnosis. She wanted to pay it forward and help others. Marci has broadened her cancer genre and recently published another children's book, Michael the Magnificent Fights Back and Maggie the Magnificent Fights Backabout a child learning they have cancer.

In 2020, Marci launched Flor Publishing, named after her daughters Lily and Autumn. Her site consists of blogs, resources for cancer patients and now will be featuring coloring books written by her and her daughter, Lily.

Authors Tuesday Episode with Terry Overton

Terry Overton obtained her Ph.D. in Psychology and her Ed. D. in special education. She taught in public schools and was a school psychologist and a professor before retiring in 2016. She began her second “career” after retirement writing Christian fiction books and devotionals. She hopes to share the Christian worldview through her writing and touch the lives of her readers. Her novels, middle grade readers, and picture books seek to entertain readers through the travel experiences and characters included in her books. Her books teach history and Biblical Scripture by using fictional characters and plots such as time travel and action adventure. Her books have earned Bookfest Awards, Firebird Book Awards, American Writing Award Gold, International Finalist Book Award, Reader Views Awards, Reader’s Favorite Awards and the Mom’s Choice Award, and Christian Indie Awards. Authors Tuesday Episode with Jaya Viswanathan,

Dr. Jaya Viswanathan is a neuroscientist, engineer, award-winning author, and artist born and raised in India. She earned an engineering degree, a Master’s in neuroscience, and a Doctorate in cognitive neuroscience. She then worked as a post-doctoral fellow before joining the Division of Neuroscience at the National Institute on Aging as a KGS Contractor in the US. Her research was focused on understanding how brains interpret the world through vision and audition. Today I was delighted to be joined by another great Author Julieta Cuellar. Julieta Cuellar is based in Cypress Texas. She’s a Mexican-American, daughter of immigrant parents, and mom of two boys, 13 and 11. She received her Master of Business Administration in Information Technology from the University of Houston. She serves as an IT Agile Coach in corporate America with Professional Agile certifications and is also now an author. A Spanish\English bilingual author. Authors Tuesday episode with Declan Cosson

Thanks for tuning into another great interview with Declan Cosson Declan Cosson was born in Paris, France in 1999. He moved to Ireland in 2001 where he has lived ever since. He attended Hollypark school between 2005 and 2012. He then attended Clonkeen College between 2012 and 2018 and studied English, Media and Cultural Studies in IADT in Dun Laoghaire between 2018 and 2022. Declan started writing as early as fifteen years old and has been writing ever since. Currently he is 23 years old. During his time in Clonkeen, he contributed short stories to the Clonkeen Anthology and also contributed short stories to Inkslinger's anthology at the Irish Writer's centre. Interview with Author Andrea Olatunji

Welcome to another Author's Tuesday interview with another great children's author Andrea Olatunhi.

Award-winning author and seasoned educator Andrea Olatunji lives by her mission to validate and instill an appreciation for diversity in young children. She developed a passion for languages and cultures early on in her twenty-year-plus career. She has taught English as a Second Language and Spanish in her native Uruguay and here in the United States, gaining valuable expertise with diversity and multicultural environments.
Her children’s book series, Nuestra Fauna, is a fantastic resource to learn Spanish in a contextualized and fun way. The series features Latin American fauna while teaching important values.
Her first book, “Omar, el jaguar” is the recipient of the Moonbeam Spirit Award in the category of Preservation. It has been named an award-winning finalist in the Children’s Educational Category of the 2020 International Book Awards and lately, it won the Cover Design Award by KidsShelfBooks. The story celebrates diversity while raising awareness about climate change.
Her second book “Guillo, el armadillo” is a tribute to her own students. Based in a project she used in her classroom, this story inspires kids to discover her unique talents. This book received an honorary mention in the International Latino Book Awards for best Educational Picture Book.
Being an educator, Andrea couldn’t help but create educator guides for these books including lesson plans, guiding questions, project ideas, and assessments.

Ganadora de varios premios dentro de la literatura infantil, Andrea Olatunji tiene como misión principal validar a los niños e inculcar en ellos una apreciación por la diversidad. Oriunda de Uruguay, Andrea ha desarrollado una gran pasión por los idiomas y sus culturas. Ha enseñado el inglés como segunda lengua y el español, aquí en los Estados Unidos y en su país natal, Uruguay. Esto le ha otorgado una experiencia muy valiosa en el campo de la diversidad y el multiculturalismo.
Su serie, Nuestra Fauna, la cual destaca fauna latinoamericana, es un recurso muy valioso para aprender el español de una forma contextualizada y divertida. En ésta se discuten temas como la diversidad, el medio ambiente, y la autoestima.

Mel Clarkston is an album cover artist, former gallery owner, award-winning chalk artist ,childrens’ book author and left-handed Ukulele bassist and singer. She is a native of West Texas but has called San Diego, CA her home for almost a decade. She takes joy in de-mystifying the idea of art-the sanctity of practice,,and more practice...of showing up every day and being excited about creating something, whatever the media. Inspiration comes in the doing- as opposed to waking up in the middle of the night and being struck by some magical idea! Mel loves the challenge of creating something from nothing. She delights in introducing the audience to something “weird” and elevating it to a higher status. Welcome to another episode of my podcast. Today I spoke to another great Author Nicola Catton. Nicola is a new author, publishing her book in December 2022. She has lived in Newham for most of my life and was born, studied and worked here. She is also a qualified school teacher and worked in special education for the ten years of her twenty year career. Nicola self published her first book The Launderette Kid after nearly ten years of thinking about it. It’s a book about a young boy who thinks of himself as some sort of superhero in the community.
