EP# 13 Active listening, the MOST powerful skill you can have as a peer supporter
The #1 Human Emotional Need is Affirmation.  The #1 way to give the gift of affirmation is to be a skilled active listener.  Active listening is the skillful act of affirming another person, while investigating their feelings with care and compassion.  Using an investigative communications model known as the Pain Funnel, you can be a world class listener. ***the pain funnel is a TM intellectual property of Sandler Training*** I hope they don't mind that I've adapted it for this purpose.  Please don't sue me!

EP# 2. What is PTSD / OSI, what causes it, and what are some symptoms?
Operational stress INJURY, is a term I prefer to PTSD, because it is more accurate.  It is an injury, not a sickness.  You are not alone.  Listen to this episode, and see if you can relate.  Please leave comments, and share a link to this show on social media, or text it directly to someone who may benefit.  ***Discaimer*** In this episode, I used the acronym TBI as interchangeable with PTSD.  This isn't accurate.  The effects are similar, but not the same, and the modality of injury is not exactly the same.  Oopsy!  Remember, I am NOT a clinition.  I'm working hard to get the details right, but will miss the occasional tid-bit like this one.  The message however is the same. Bottom line on this episode....and OSI / PTSD, is an INJURY, not a sickness, or disorder.
