Hi, I am Markus Heitkoetter. I live in Austin, TX, and I am a multi-millionaire. In 2002, I left my job as a director at IBM and moved all the way from Munich in Germany to Austin, TX to become a trader. These days, I am trading stocks and options, I am investing in real estate and I'm running a business. In this podcast, I let you peek "behind the scenes" and share my ups and downs, my successes and my failure, my struggles and victories... in short: everything! Enjoy the ride!
Today, I'm dragging to get up. Because I know what day it is: DENTIST DAY. And as I'm laying in bed staring at the ceiling, I realize that there are 2 important life lessons here. Listen to this episode and find out what they are :-)
This weekend, I had a 3-day Live Trading Event in Los Angeles. So I had to get from San Francisco to LA, and I found a company that is offering "semi private" planes. So what is THAT all about? Listen to this episode and find out:
After 4 days, 1,862 miles, one broken wheel, one broken trailer axle, one overheating hub... and a bunch of other challenges, we made it to San Francisco! :-) . But there was ONE more challenge! Here's what happened when we arrived:
I spent the last 5 days in Chicago, where I met with some traders and we traded together in the mornings (and made money :-)), and then we had fun in Chicago in the afternoon. Here are the 5 things I noticed about Chicago:
After my adventures in China and Japan, I'm back in the U.S. And this morning, I found a new website... and I'm hooked. You probably already know this website, but I have never heard of it. Listen to this episode to find out what it is and why I am addicted to it :-)
This morning, I left the cruise ship and I'm now back in Beijing. And when we arrived in Beijing, my hosts wanted to show me an "Original Beijing Noodle House." - Listen to this episode and find out what happened :-)
So apparently, when they said “cruise,” they meant cruise!! When I got the invitation and the itinerary for the China Trip, I remember that they said something about a “cruise.” And I thought it was some sort of “river cruise” on the river in Beijing. Nope! I was wrong.
I'm really excited: I have never been to China! Tomorrow, I'll head from Austin to Chicago and then from Chicago to Beijing. And I'm doing something that I haven't done in 6 years! Listen to this episode and find out what it is :-)
What do they say: "When you fall off a horse, get back on the horse!" - This weekend, my daughter Vivian hurt herself when sailing. And there's a good lesson in how she handled this injury. Check it out in this episode!
Do you know how peanuts grow? I didn't know, so I looked it up, and it is fascinating! Oh, and yes: I'm also talking about my trading week - but only for a little bit. Listen to this episode and learn something new :-)
Soooo.... right now, the last season of “Game of Thrones” is on HBO - and there are a lot of people talking about it. I have never watched an episode of this show, but I was curious: Everybody seems to be raving about the storyline, costumes and actors, so I decided to buy an episode on Amazon, and I watched it. Listen to this episode to find out whether I liked it or not :-)
It's Sunday night, and I just got back to my suite at the Hilton. We had a fantastic 2-day live event, and now I'm about to indulge in a "Guilty Pleasure". Listen to this episode to find out what it is, and let me know that YOU think! :-)
This morning, I received a text from my son Julius: He was VERY excited to share something with me. It made me think about something important: Freedom - and what it REALLY means. And that's what I'm sharing in this episode. Enjoy!
Do you sometimes have one of these days when you have A LOT to deal with? Sometimes it’s easy to get overwhelmed. In this episode, I’ll share what exactly I do when I have one of these moment. Enjoy :-)
Do you sometimes have one of these days: You have all these plans for the day, but then you wake up and life (or somebody else) is throwing you a curveball, and you spent all day fighting fires? Well, yesterday was one of these days. Here's what happened...
My son Julius is 16 and wants to have his own car. So I told him that he needs to find a way to make some money. He said: "Ok, I'll get a job." - and I told him "No!" - Here's what I said he needs to do instead (and it's NOT trading!)
There’s one area in my life that I’m struggling with. It’s something that’s bothering me - but not enough to actually change it. And it make me think about what’s motivating me. Listen to this episode to find out what area in my life I’m struggling with.
Wow! This morning, I was working on a project for my business. I spent several hours on it, and it wasn't easy... but I did it. And then I talked to my friend Rob, and he gave me a solution that I could have implemented in less than 5 min! Lesson learned... Check it out:
Happy Monday! It's a busy Monday, but things are going well (thus far - lol). In this episode, I talk about my son's birthday, the OPEC building in Vienna and what it had to do with quitting my job at IBM, and much more...
Today, I could just scream... AT MYSELF! This morning, I started a project, but then I got in my head and made it way too complicated. And so I got stuck. And instead of "powering through", I did something stupid. Listen to this episode to find out what happened.
Today I read an article from Randi Zuckerberg (Yes, that's Mark Zuckerberg's sister). She said that for her there are 5 big areas in her life:
Building a great company.
Spending time with family.
And she says: "It's impossible to focus on all 5. Pick 3."
In this episode, I'll discuss what this means to me.
Today, we are at Rush Creek Yacht Club in Dallas, because the kids have a sailing regatta. However, today something interesting happened, and it’s actually something that reminds me a lot about trading! Check it out.
This morning, I did a bunch of stuff that I don't like to do... and I'm wondering: Why am I doing it? The good news: This afternoon will be awesome, because I can do what I like!
WARNING: This episode might be a little bit depressing. Today is not a good day, but I promised you that I take you behind the scenes and let you know what's going on in my life. In this episode, I'll tell you what's happening right now.
