Happy Valentine's Day! (w/Sara Miller Stratton and Barb Allen)
Valentine's Day is this Friday, so to celebrate, we did the most romantic thing we could think of: We opened a bottle of pinot noir, laid out a box of fancy chocolates, and lured our wives into the studio to talk at them about 1960's Marvel Comics. Join us as we revisit some of early Marvel's most romantic moments and discover what ACTUAL LADIES think about Lame Doctor Blake and Jane Foster, Peter Parker and Betty Brant, and Reed Richards, Sue Storm, and Namor. [Borat Voice: My Wiiiiife!!] Re-Reading List: Journey Into Mystery #97,  Amazing Spider-Man #9, Fantastic Four #27. "Marvel by the Month" theme by Robb Milne, sung by Barb Allen. August 1964 (w/Noah Campbell) - 1st appearance of Kraven, Beetle, Owl, Grey Gargoyle, Unicorn

Fill-In Episode - The Comics Code of 1954
Happy early Thanksgiving! We gorged ourselves prematurely on turkey and soy-based turkey substitute and fell asleep before we could record this week's episode. So here's a fill-in where we talk about the absurd self-censorship of the Comics Code Authority. If there's one thing we're grateful for (other than all of you!), it's the fact that the Comics Code no longer exists. Shout-out to the passionate defenders of the First Amendment at the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund - if you are making plans for end-of-year giving, throw them a few tax-deductible bucks and/or buy some of their cool merch. Reading list: every Marvel Comic from 1954 to 2001. Plus, The Ten-Cent Plague by David Hadju and Seal of Approval: The History of the Comics Code by Dr. Amy Kiste Nyberg.
