Shabbat and Synagogue Life

Shabbat and Synagogue Life

What does Shabbat look like in your home? What do Israelis do on Shabbat? and Americans? Is there only one answer to each of those questions?

In this episode we're going to talk about the many different experiences and ways we celebrate Shabbat. Some will include a home cooked meal shared with our close family. Others will present the gift of celebrating with a community when away from home. There is something in the air on that day that we'll try to capture, and by sharing our stories we are hoping to inspire you and inform you of the diversity that exists in the many ways of celebrating Shabbat and the synagogues and communities that foster those celebrations.

Enjoy!

Bnei Mitzvot

Bnei Mitzvot

In this episode we're going to talk about Bnei Mitzvot. We'll mention our family traditions and our role models who shaped us to be who we are as adults.

We will talk about the different traditions and practices of boys and girls in the US and in Israel and how do twins celebrate their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We will find out what is a Tzdedaka project, and we'll dive deep into the question of what it actually means to arrive to the age of Mitzvot? We will see that in some places it means getting to an age where we're more mature and ready to take more responsibilities and in other places we will meet a different point of view that focuses on giving back to our community.

How do we celebrate the Jewish holidays?

How do we celebrate the Jewish holidays?

We strongly recommend you to bring snacks for this one- cause it's going to make you hungry- guaranteed!

It is customary to say the Jewish holidays are a celebration of the story of another people who tried to kill us, they failed, so now we eat. It is said as a joke, but in any good comedy there is a grain of truth in it. In this episode we will talk about all the different kinds of food and traditions, flavors and customs that make our holidays what they are. We will see that even on a holiday that is all about fasting- Yom Kippur we managed to talk about food. We will discuss how the holidays look like in Israel vs. the US, and what are the challenges each location is presenting to tradition.
