Straight Up Utes

The Rose Bowl is just five days away! How explosive is the Ohio St offense? What weaknesses can the Utes exploit? This matchup favors Utah more than you'd expect! 

The Utes put together one of its most impressive wins in program history by slaughtering the #3 Oregon Ducks by 31 points. With the win, Utah has now clinched the Pac-12 South and Kyle Whittingham has now won more games than any other coach in Ute football history. The Utes get one more game at home against the lackluster Colorado Buffaloes to complete the season, and then on to Vegas for the Pac-12 Championship for the chance to play in the Rose Bowl! 

The Utes are currently favored by 3 to defeat the #3 team in the country, the Oregon Ducks. I dug into some of the numbers and history to try to understand why bettors are putting their money on a 3-loss team when a top-3 team visits Rice Eccles Stadium this Saturday. Guess what? The Ducks look a lot like a team the Utes already beat this season, and it seems like the perfect time for an upset in Salt Lake City.

The Utes football team just completely humiliated the Cardinal in Palo Alto, rushing to a 45 point victory. A few all-time Utah records are starting to fall, and Tavion Thomas and Devin Lloyd continue to move towards the top of the record books. Up next, the Utes travel to the Grand Canyon State to take on the Arizona Wildcats, who just won its first game in 21 tries against a COVID depleted Cal team. It's hard to not look forward to the Oregon game in a couple weeks!
