This episode start definitely caught me off guard because Master Liborio wanted me to tell everyone how we met. And as you can tell by watching, I was happy to oblige as it's a fun story that I DON'T think I have shared on the show before.  Master Liborio and I go on to discuss the current state of Jiu-Jitsu, what he has been doing during the "Covid Era" and how the BJJ program at UCF is doing.

Right off the bat, we waste no time getting right into how many shows Watson has done this week, dealing with the new popularity and so much more. Watson's story about his day job and the run in with Human Resources was absolutely hilarious. 

Going a different route with this episode, we actually barely talked about Watson's MASSIVE win over Greg Hardy at Knucklemania 3 and focused more on the man outside of the squared circle. It's fantastic that even after seeing a leg break in BKFC and a knockout of the year candidate, Watson is the one getting all the well-deserved attention.

The Quiggin' Out MMA Podcast is back with Episode 63 and features BKFC's first strawweight champion, Britain Beltran (She went with Hart Beltran for the show since that's how everyone knows her)  

Beltran makes her 2nd appearance on the podcast, first coming on the show for episode 23 and she definitely makes up for lost time and gets right into it.   We discussed everything from her tenure at BKFC, what the future holds for her, prior fights and how she wasn't supposed to win,  finding love at BKFC, and what her life is like now that she's three months removed from winning the championship.

The Quiggin' Out MMA Podcast is back with Episode 59 and have none other than current Bellator flyweight champion, Liz "Girl-Rilla" Carmouche!   

This episode had an incredible amount of significance as Carmouche was the first fighter that I interviewed ELEVEN years ago when I was just starting in the MMA journalism field. The nerves and panic were real and it was an amazing experience as this was the person who confirmed that this was something to pursue.  We went down the rabbit hole, re-visiting those interview questions, and answers, all while discussing how much has changed in that time. Carmouche talks about being a mother, a wife, and most recently, a world champion with Bellator.  

This was a really fun episode to do and is full of so many stories and personal reflections. Carmouche holds nothing back when it comes to discussing her career, BKFC, her losses, and how her life has been impacted from a career as a mixed martial artist. Keep an eye out for the special guest who decides to be front and center multiple times during the show. It's quite hilarious.

Eddie was in the middle of documenting the weigh-ins when he learned that one of the fights would be cancelled and decided he would step up and take the fight. It's insane. Stache Mouth, as he'll be referred to, and I really had a great time discussing the love of MMA, what it means as a community, and the entire process leading up to the fight above.  

Martinez takes us through those twelve and a half hours leading up to the fight, his martial arts background, and how so many people are not using the tools that are presented right in front of them. He is an amazingly talented photographer and the work he is doing with fighters is something to keep an eye on. It was a pleasure having him on the show and we look forward to seeing what is next for him, whether it be with his hands on a camera or in gloves in the ring.

The Quiggin' Out MMA Podcast is back with Episode 55 featuring not one, but two guests as the title spoiled for you.

This could not have come together any better than it did. This episode was almost filmed 10 years to the day of UFC on FX 3, which happened to be the first UFC event that I ever attended. It was an immediate love for live sports and the first day I had met any fighter, being Ian McCall. Wineland called into the show on whim and it really just turned into something more amazing than previous interviews. 

This episode is not a showcase or breakdown of Eddie's next fight on June 18. It was a introspective journey into the career paths of two different fighters who seem to have the same mindset and that is an amazing thing to watch unfold on screen. 

McCall, no longer Uncle Creepy, talks about how different his life would have been had he won the title that night against Mighty Mouse. (Spoiler, it's not a happy path). Wineland talks about whether or not he still thought he'd be fighting in the UFC 10 years later, let alone getting a brand new four fight contract this year to continue to compete on the worlds' grandest stage. 

McCall and Wineland really dive deep and explore life, psychedelic's, careers and what life after fighting has meant and will mean, respectively for each of them. Take some time and really have fun with this one and realize that you may get more out of it than you think. Of course, there are some fun stories peppered in here as well as well as some fun facts!

Pichel is an absolutely hilarious and down to Earth fighter. We discussed his perspective on fighting, how video games are his escape from fighting, fighting at 40 and his last fight, changing gyms, road rage, and finally, one of the funniest stories about Friday the 13th that I can almost guarantee no one can top.

Pichel also discussed life as a dad, his move to Colorado, cars, motorcycles, and so much more. We didn't even get to fully dive into his Twitch Channel, which we will save for a future episode!

It was really amazing getting to learn about the ins and outs of the show and process, the costs associated with it, and how just like in MMA, there are many smaller organizations out there with the chance to compete on the biggest stage of them all. The Quiggin' Out MMA Podcast is back with Episode 49 with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and Actual Mixed Martial ARTIST, Phillip Lietz!  

Lietz is someone who I came across specifically for his artwork. His Jiu-Jitsu drawings are so full of life and accurate when it comes to the positions and grips that he depicts. It wasn't until after a few conversations with Lietz did I realize his place in the Jiu-Jitsu world as a Black Belt.  This was a roller-coaster for a plethora of reasons. For one, Lietz talked about his passion for reptiles and his job as a Herpetoculturist. We discussed the hierarchy of asking rolling higher belts, specifically black belts to roll and the differences he has experienced from gym to gym.

Lietz is a wealth of knowledge in many facets and it truly was fascinating getting a different perspective that may turn some heads.   

Side Note: We experienced a rare internet outage in the middle of the show. I was able to edit out most of the dead-air but I realized after that my comment about 6 minutes or so of dead air won't make sense.

This was an absolute eye-opener to learn so many things about a fighter that has been in the MMA world since 1999. We talked about his first 20 fights, fighting in bars for no money, hiding fighting from his dad, and even fighting multiple opponents in one single night. Torres even talked about how he fought the same guy twice in one night. 

Torres dove into what his life is now after fighting, what his gym means to him, and most importantly, his new group simply called the Wolf Pack. Now the Wolf Pack is currently a group of 5 older gentleman who have been afflicted with Parkinson's disease. The Quiggin' Out MMA Podcast is back with Episode 45. The guest is recent PFL signee, fighting Aug 19, Christian "Hollywood" Lohsen!   

In this episode, Lohsen talked about what this opportunity with the PFL means to him, what married life has been like for him, including raising his two husky pups, and even dropped a bit of canine knowledge on our listeners!   Lohsen did this interview during fight week and was easily one of the calmest fighter's we've ever had on the show. He talked about how important refocus is and how the partnership between his gym, DarkWolf MMA and Pete White Boxing & MMA came to fruition and how important it is to surround yourself with like-minded individuals. The amount of knowledge coming from Lohsen at such a young age is fascinating.   

This interview was a bit shorter than normal out of respect for Lohsen having to weigh-in at 9am the next morning.

We also discussed the idea of Herrera being the first Columbian-Born BKFC fighter and how he not only feels he should but is obligated to give those in Columbia a chance to shine in the squared circle. Herrera is hoping to be featured on the July 23rd BKFC event in Tampa, Florida, his hometown.

The Quiggin Out MMA Podcast is back after another small break  with episode 36 featuring BKFC brawler, Bobo O'Bannon.  

This was one of the most intense interviews I have ever done. O'Bannon did not shed away from any detail of his life and career. He discussed things that left my speechless and I feel you will share that sentiment when you watch the show. From dealing with a horrific memory to what he goes through day to day, O'Bannon is the true definition of a fighter.   O'Bannon and I talked baseball, what it is to be a father and a husband, how important his faith is to him and even how at one point, his wife told him that if he wanted to fight, they wouldn't be together anymore. Of course all that changed on one fateful Sunday morning and the rest is history.   

It was truly an honor to get to talk to someone like O'Bannon because he really is a one-of-a-kind person, not just a fighter. His work ethic and ability to make things work, even when they shouldn't, is a thing of beauty. If you don't believe me, one of his cornerman was in Wales during his last BKFC fight and actually was able to Facetime with him in order to give instructions between rounds.   I

The Quiggin Out MMA Podcast is back after a small hiatus with episode 35 featuring recent UFC heavyweight signee, Lorenzo "The DreamKiller" Hood.

The show needed to come back with a bang and this was exactly what the doctor ordered. Hood's quiet and reserved style is the exact opposite of his fighting style, as he has 15 wins and 15 first round knockouts. Hood talks about his adversity growing up along with the opportunities and failures he experienced. He goes on to talk about how and why he retired from MMA in 2016, the infamous Bellator injury, and even a time where he had to sign a waiver that included the words "leg amputation". (Probably one of the craziest stories I have ever heard).

Hood also goes on to talk about his time in boxing, bare-knuckle fighting and how a loss changed not only his outlook on fighting, but his outlook on life. Hood was originally supposed to be fighting for the Valor Fighting Challenge Heavyweight title but obviously when the UFC came knocking, there was no hesitation in his decision.

In this episode, which was a longtime coming, Lewis and I had an absolute blast discussing fighting after an insane four year layoff!  If you watched Lewis' last fight, there was no way you wouldn't know that he had a four year layoff because it was brought up every single chance possible! Lewis shared his emotions leading up to the fight, during the fight, and the post fight elation after getting the victory and improving to 5-0  

We also discussed one of the craziest things ever when it comes to what age Lewis was when he started coaching/teaching and running his own school. Lewis shared his journey in MMA, Jiu-Jitsu, and life and how it has brought him to this moment.  Lewis talked about how important his team has been and how it has helped his mindset not only in the MMA world but in life itself. The depth of conversation we had was just fantastic and I see great things for him in the future.

The Quiggin Out MMA Podcast is here with episode 33 with TJ De Santis!

In this episode, TJ and I go down the proverbial rabbit hole when it comes to broadcasting and MMA.  For those who are unaware, TJ has been a broadcaster in the MMA world since the early 2000's and is currently holding up duties as a play-by-play commentator for Invicta Fighting Championship, Ikon Fighting Federation, EBI, and Combat Jiu-Jitsu  worlds as well as producing multiple podcasts, including Bruce Buffer's "It's Time w/ Bruce Buffer".

He talks us through how he got his first radio internship at 15 and how that changed his life for the better.

The episode goes from TJ talking about his life growing up to his knowledge and experience in the radio and broadcasting world. He even gave us some amazing insight into why we use the terms we do today, the birth of the term "formatical" and how the term podcast didn't even exist when he entered this world.

TJ and I shared some memories of our childhood and learned that we both share a trait that some may view as a bad thing but I say it's a positive thing.

In the end, I'm super happy that we got to sit and chat for the first time. TJ is a wealth of knowledge and truly understands what it is to provide sound advice (I hope someone thinks that is as funny as I did) as to his life and roles within the MMA and broadcasting community.  TJ even gives some insight into a new format he is doing and it's amazing that no one had thought of this before.
