#30 Real Life Magic (Feat. Anthony Hadlen) (Part 2-2)
On today’s episode we have Anthony Hadlen. He is an incredibly talented magician and hypnotist now based in Toronto. Besides being a magician, he’s also an insanely talented content creator. We'll be talking about the first podcast I was ever on, vlogging every day for over 200 days in a row, more about podcasting (of course), building a business and a bit of Hadlen's backstory.
This is the first MRTV episode in almost two years, and I’m glad to be starting back up with Anthony. This episode is part two of two.

#28 Do analytics matter? (Feat. Dustin Ratzlaff)
As a solopreneur, you're the one doing everything. Performing your service, getting clients, doing your own book keeping. The list is endless. If you're a creative, you might even be in charge of your own website. If that's the case, you've probably heard about analytics. For me, this has been an overwhelming part of the online world.
This is where my friend Dustin saw a problem. As an expert with digital marketing, he understands the data, but knew that his clients needed to be able to understand it too. If you're spending money on advertising, then you should know how your ad spend is performing. You want to know if it's working or not. To bridge the connection with his clients, he developed an online app called Bench Metrics. This takes the data from your website, and puts it into easy to understand performance metrics. Better yet, he categorizes the data and puts you against similar businesses, so you can see how you're doing among your peers. This is something google doesn't do.
Take a listen to this episode. You can hear from the creator about how this works, and use the link below to use it for free!
Start using Bench Metrics for free today by going to their site and clicking "Get Started" https://www.benchmetrics.app/

#25 Don't get used
There will be a time in your career where someone you know asks you to create for them. It could be a sibling, parent, or friend. Someone might expect you to just do it for free, and not truly appreciate you. On this episode we chat about how to be prepared for this type of situation, and not end up feeling used.

#24 The "J" in MJ&Co. (Feat. Janna Gobeil)
The ever so talented Janna Gobeil from Janna Gobeil Photography joins me on this episode to chat about the hustle of running a photo business. We go back about 10 years to when we met. I was her second shooter. Within months we decided to photograph together. We called ourselves "Matt & Janna" which eventually turned into "MJ&Co." when our team expanded.
This is a candid conversation about what it's like to be still doing this after so long, and some guidance for people wanting to make their brand stick.

Being a creator can be lonely. I've always been the type of person to want to collaborate and work together with other awesome people. For the past few years being part of a team has been my reality. For me, it isn't a one man show, and that is my favourite part of coming into the studio everyday. We will share what it's like working together.

#10 Draw the line...
Procrastination is a known problem of many creatives. But it's not helping you. Sometimes you need to just draw the line. Say it's complete. It can always be better, but you have to choose when it's good enough.

#09 How to become insanely great at anything
It's not an accident when people are so good at something it makes your jaw drop. I know what you're thinking, "Matt, some people just have the talent for it." That's just not true. It's a fantasy. Real people who get really good at what they do, work harder, and practice harder than everyone else. In my experience, the people who I've seen doing amazing things in the world, have this backlog of hard work, mixed with trial and error, and I'm just seeing the results of it. This episode is a few ways you can learn something starting today, and get better at it as fast as possible.

#08 Is photography really an art?
I struggle accepting the label of artist when I think of what I do. Yet, when compared to people I would consider true artists with paintings selling in world class art galleries, and being purchase for museums, I have a lot in common with their creative process. In this episode I discuss my views on what I think is the true art form of being a wedding photographer, and my urge to create, and the fears and self consciousness that comes along with putting yourself out there.

Cameras are tools. I'm a nerd and love cool new technology, and interesting gadgets. When new cameras come out, love learning about them. But I have a rule. If the new tool doesn't allow me let me do something I couldn't before, then I don't buy it. This episode is why I switched from Canon cameras to Sony. Was it a good idea? Do I have some regrets? #03 Your ego is killing your creative with Alexander Ford
I remember when I first started my photography company, I thought that people should hire me. Everyone should hire me. Because I was awesome, because I was better than everybody else (which is obviously not true). I made it about me. It was killing me. I took it personally. In this episode we chat about how you can change that behaviour and get better clients in the process.
Special thanks to my business coach, Alexander Ford from Measurable Genius. Their company hosts an event called Command and Conquer every quarter to plan and grow your business. #02 My ten out of ten
If someone asked you what you wanted out of life, would you have an answer? For a long time, I couldn't have given a good answer to that question. I found out why I couldn’t answer that question. It was because I didn’t know who I was. I didn’t know what made me, me. On this episode I share my journey to finding the answer to that question. I know what a ten out of ten for life looks like to me.
