Sometimes, we need to stop and reflect on verses that we have heard and said over and over. There just might be much more to enjoy and learn in them if we take a closer look. Today, we take a closer look at Romans 6:23.
So much of the craziness in the world around us is causing anxiety, discouragement, and even depression in people. But the Jesus-follower has a way of putting all of the difficulties into perspective so that he or she doesn’t run from them - they embrace them. They may even find joy in them!
In a time when many people are struggling with anxiety and discouragement, the Bible calls us to be happy. But, it’s not a superficial, fake happiness. It’s based on substance, on what Jesus has done for us.
Every single person who walks planet earth desperately needs the Gospel. We desperately need to be brought into a right relationship with the God who made us. But, the Gospel is horribly offensive. Let’s talk about it.
Since resting in the Gospel is the only way that we can enter into relationship with God and know that we are headed for Heaven, we’d better get it right. Let’s seek to clarify how we are to understand the relationship of works (performance) when thinking about a Gospel that is free.
