Bib's Corner is where sports and film intersect. However, this podcast is where I’ll talk in-depth on all things Basketball. As a fan of the Dallas Mavericks: an MFFL, most of the basketball content will be centered around the Mavs.
I'm BACK! After 10 days off I'm back to recap the latest Mavs games. I brought along Optimist Bibs to help me out. The Dallas Mavericks came up with two wins against two teams that came in with .500 records and in beating them moved to .500 themselves. I cover the games before getting into some NBA News and leave with my parting thoughts on the KP trade rumors.
0:00 - 1:53 Cold open
3:58 - 15:17 What I liked, What I didn't like and stats
17:45 - 27:47 NBA News and KP trade thoughts
27:47 - 31:15 Thoughts on where the Mavs stand now

In tonight's recap (which wasn't planned) I discuss the game for the first 10 minutes then I answer your questions. I asked for submissions on Twitter @Bibscorner and the people came through so this episode is mostly those responses. Most of the questions were about Porzingis and whether or not he can be the second guy long-term.
In this episode, I recap the Mavs win over the Pelicans. KP getting loose from 3, Luka's career-high, and Brunson's steadying presence off the bench all are covered. I also run down the top news stories of the past few days around the NBA and leave you with a parting thought on a topic that has recently become a problem for me on Mavs Twitter. Enjoy!
In this recap, I go over the Mavericks second matchup vs. Trae Young and the Hawks. The Mavs hung on to win but the win was a mixed bag. I go over the good and the bad as always. I also run down the key news stories around the NBA including how our rookies are doing down in the Orlando G-League bubble. Enjoy!
In this recap, I talk about the Mavs win over the Timberwolves. After a dominant 1st quarter the Mavs took their feet off the gas and hand to hang on late but did get the victory. I introduced a new segment tonight as well.
0:00 - 1:19: Cold Open
03:24 - 19:45: Game talk
22:30 - End: NBA News and Parting Thoughts
Be sure to look for and subscribe to the "Mavs Outsiders podcast" when it arrives on your platform of choice featuring me, @BibsCorner, and @MindofReese. A weekly show where we'll recap the prior week in Mavs basketball and discuss any pressing topics.
In this episode, I recap the Dallas Mavericks game vs. the Atlanta Hawks. The Mavs got the win and a new pattern is emerging with the rotations. Also, I introduce a new segment of "NBA News" as I add more of an NBA focus to the podcast. Enjoy!
I've had a lot of people on the podcast over the past few months but you might not have heard me interviewed. In this episode, I linked up with the Buckets and Beyond crew (@BucketsBeyond) for a 1/4 season review and we ended up going into a lot of other things. If you're a new listener, you may not know how I came to be a Mavs fan living in South Carolina so that part of the talk could be interesting for you. The guys give some of their stories as well and overall the convo was a lot of fun. We do get to the quarter season preview about halfway through and with things continuing to fall apart since my talk with Josh, I had to update some of my feelings on the Mavs situation. Enjoy!
0:00 - 2:30 My personal intro
2:30 - 12:00 The guys make me blush
12:00 - 46:00 My background and other Mavs related history
46:00 - 1:08:00 Trade ideas and what not
1:08 - End. Giannis and other dreams
You can catch the rest of the interview (and game show) at: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3QkUwpteiVk0z16lngjlys?si=lG__xwcDR2CrrdVswgl_Dw
In this episode, I recap the past two games against the Suns. It feels like the Dallas Mavericks haven't beat the Suns in 10 years at this point. I kept this one to the point but did add a closing thought that I'd like some feedback on. Enjoy!
In this recap I go over both Dallas Mavericks games vs. the Jazz this week. Two embarrassing losses and a team that looks like it is in the midst of falling apart. I end with a rant about a common topic...
In this episode, Josh and I go over the NBA season thus far. COVID, injuries, our grades for the Mavericks and Hornets, and then we go over how our season predictions are looking thus far. We also go on some rants and tangents but it's all NBA related so I'm sure you won't mind those. Enjoy!

In this recap I discuss the Dallas Mavericks games against the Spurs and the Rockets over the past two nights. We split the pair, but old issues were brought back to the light and I couldn’t help but rant on those topics. Enjoy!
In this episode I recap the Raptors and Spurs games from the first half of the week, after paying my respects to a follower and MFFL who I found out passed away a couple weeks ago. RIP Pastor Corey Hines.
In this episode I recap both the Bucks and Bulls games after taking a hiatus. The Dallas Mavericks lost both but I discuss why we shouldn’t be panicking and point out the good things we can take away from these games.
In this game recap, I’m joined by my man Josh for the third time. This time to discuss the Dallas Mavericks vs the Charlotte Hornets, but then to discuss the COVID situation and of course the 4 team trade that just went down. Enjoy! Follow Josh on twitter @HornetsFan88.
In this Dallas Mavericks recap I go over the first game where the Mavs were without DFS, Brunson, and Josh Richardson due to COVID protocols. A few guys were asked to step up and all of them did. The Mavs move above .500, hopefully for good.
In this recap I go over the overtime thriller between the Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets. A game that started out ugly but saw huge plays from almost everyone on the roster. The Mavs await the arrival of Porzingis but climb to 4-4 in the meantime.
In this recap I give you the rundown on the first matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets this season. Willie Cauley-Stein and Maxi Kleber are inserted into the starting lineup and Luka puts up a 30+ point, 15+ rebound triple-double. Follow me on twitter @Bibscorner
In this episode I recap the Dallas Mavericks first 2020-2021 game without Luka Doncic. Jalen Brunson stepped up big with 31 but didn’t get much help from anyone else. Lavine and Coby White hold the Mavs accessories at bay. I have a lot to say about what this shows us. Follow me on twitter @BibsCorner
In this recap I do my best to break down what I saw from the Dallas Mavericks in this game. The good, the bad, the ugly. There was not a lot to like and it’s clear that the Mavs need to make some adjustments.
In this recap I go over the Mavericks’ blowout win over the Clippers. I discuss what we can take away from this game and what to expect from this team going forward. I also answered some questions I received on twitter.
In this episode I invited my friend Josh back for another episode that is not quite centered around the Dallas Mavericks. In this one we broke down the standings predictions for both conferences, predicted the All-Stars, the end of year awards, and walk through the playoffs down to our Finals winners. Enjoy!
In this episode I recap the Mavs final 2020 preseason game as we are finally ready for real basketball. The team was back in Dallas for the first time since Boban gave Jokic 31 and 17 and the league was shut down back in March. Hit play to find out how it went.
The Mavs took over down the stretch of a game that felt much more serious than the first preseason game. Luka Doncic and Josh Richardson combine for 50. The Maxi/Burke/Brunson trio looked good off the bench as well. I recap the game, name a player of the game, a tweet of the game from @MindOfReese, answer your questions, and leave you with a parting thought.
The Mavs returned to the court for the first time since they were eliminated in the playoffs. All of the new pieces were on display, the injured guys (besides KP) were back and Josh Richardson and Nate Hinton made early statements. Maxi Kleber looked like his pre-bubble self and the Mavs overall depth looks promising. Enjoy my recap of Mavs-Bucks.
In this episode I catch you up on what I’ve been doing lately, then get into your questions. There were some good ones and I had some fun. The preseason begins Saturday for the Mavs and I’m hoping this will hold you over until it’s recap season again!

In this episode I catch up on the movie reviews I’ve been missing over the past month or two. I talk about each film for 10 minutes or less to keep it concise. No spoilers, no elevator reviews in this one.
In this episode I brought on two loyal listeners in James and Jose who have been trying to get onto the pod for months. We start off with their introductions, then discuss the Mavs offseason and the offseason in general. (34 minutes) After the break we answer 13 mailbag questions ranging from jersey talk to Luka averaging a triple double (and somehow Andre Drummond came up?) This episode was a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy.
In this episode I sat down with my good friend Josh Sparrow to talk about our history, his Hornets (12 1/2 minutes), the trades that have gone down so far (22 1/2 minutes) and the free agent moves that have gone down thus far. Enjoy!
A quick reaction with some early observations about the new guys on their way to Dallas. I also discuss the trade briefly. (The new additions discussed are Pick 18: Josh Green, Pick 31: Tyrell Terry, Pick 36: Tyler Bey. UFA: Nate Hinton and Freddie Gillespie. Trade: Josh Richardson)
In this episode I’ll give you the names of 13 guys I like it have some interest in from this draft class. I will go in depth on 5 guys then lightly touch on the final 8. It was a weird year for me on the scouting side but I still have some things to share. I do touch on the Bucks and Blazers moves as well.
In this episode I go over the players who did not make the top 52. Thank you to everyone who sent suggestions. There are a lot of names you’re used to seeing in top 50 lists here. I go over the names and why I think some of them are on the outside looking. Enjoy! (PS, I did answer a question I was sent after the outro music).
In this episode I dive deep into numbers 5-1 on my Greatest NBA Players of All-Time list. Only one of these names surprised me but maybe it shouldn’t have. I start with about a 5 minute intro where I thank everyone for listening and supporting the series and I ask you for some more names to plug into the formula. I spend about 10-13 minutes on the first 3 guys and about 20 minutes each on the top 2. Enjoy!
In this episode I dive deep into numbers 10-6 on my Greatest NBA Players of All-Time list. The stories have gotten longer but there is so much to know about these guys. I start with about a 3 minute open before we get into the players on the list. Enjoy!
In this episode I first correct don’t player rankings that were changed after I realized a HUGE oversight. I them go from our new number 26 down through number 11. There are some huge names in this group... The first 10 minutes is the update I had to make. Each player gets between 3 and 7 minutes.
In this episode we go through players 40-26. There are a LOT of familiar names in this section including some active players and a lot of old school legends you’ve auge never heard of. (2:30 cold open, 25 minutes on 40-35, 35 minutes on 34-26).
FINALLY, this is the first episode of the GOAT series! I start with a 5 minute cold open, I spend 15 minutes on the methodology (for those that didn’t read it, skip ahead if you did). The final 30 or so minutes is all players.
In this episode I review Cooper Raiff’s debut feature which should have screened at SXSW had it not been for the pandemic. This movie hit home hard for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. (3:30) cold open. (4:00- 11:30) basic review, (22 minutes) of my review with spoilers where I go way too deep into my college experience and some bonus life stuff that this movie brought out of me.
This weekend I watched the Amazon-Blumhouse collaboration Black Box. Starring Mamoudou Athie and Phylicia Rashad, this is a thriller about a man who is recovering from a car accident and struggling with amnesia. Phylicia Rashad’s character is a doctor who tries to help him recover his memories. But there is something dark that’s coming out in these memories.
In this episode I reviewed the Radha Blank film The 40 Year Old Version. She wrote, directed, and starred in this film and won a best director award at Sundance. Cold open (4 minutes), Review (13 minutes), Bonus segment (10 minutes.)
For this podcast I asked the people what trades they want us to pursue in the offseason and to justify why those trades could actually happen. I also went team-by-team and decided who we might be able to pursue and gave my reasoning for making those trades for both teams. (Minutes: Updates 8 minutes [ad] Submitted trades 26 minutes [ad] My Trades 26 minutes.
I watched the Netflix movie Vampires vs the Bronx with no expectations, thought it would be completely forgettable but received a pleasant surprise. I loved the characters and the story was interesting as well. Here is my review. (4 minute cold open, 14 minute review, 5 minute section with some spoilers).
In this episode I give you my thoughts on the Janelle Monáe movie Antebellum. The first 7 minutes is a bit of an update and the elevator review. The review is 14 minutes. Then the last 9 minutes is where I get into spoilers while discussing how I’d fix the movie.
In this episode I talk to Lakers fan Justin Styles aka @YungEstilos. 2 minute cold open sandwiched between two ads. We first talked about his earliest Lakers memories. Then we talked about the 2011 Lakers-Mavs series. We moved on to a tough conversation about Kobe, his loss, and his legacy. From there we moved to this current Lakers team, the “struggle years” and then finally his expectations for this series.
In this episode I had the pleasure of having my good friend Mike Kirkland join the podcast to discuss his Miami Heat fanhood. The two ads sandwich my 3 minute long cold open at the start. We had some audio issues early in the pod (a bit of a delay in his audio so I respond to things before he says them until 17:18) Mike’s audio cut out around the time I tell my 2006 story also but overall it’s still easy to follow. We discussed his Heat fanhood, earliest and best memories. The 2006 Finals, 2011 Finals and the Lebron era, how he feels about Lebron as a Heat fan. Then we get into the current team, Jimmy Butler’s decision, Herro hysteria, and Finals expectations.
In this episode I talk about both conference finals series which are both currently 3-1 in favor of the Lakers and Heat. Cold open (1:30), Heat-Celtics (16 minutes), Nuggets-Lakers (16 minutes), Questions (Last 22 minutes).
Im this episode I update you on why the weekly movie update is a few days late (2:30). I go over the top 5 movies at the box office which only featured one new film. As well as hitting the two big streaming movies Antebellum and The Devil all the time. I hit on a big new movie on HBO Max and talk about Jonathan Majors taking a big role in the MCU. (15 minutes) Finally, I go over the movies you should be checking out this week.
For my first episode dedicated completely to one movie, I decided to try to watch the controversial Netflix film Cuties from French Director Maïmouna Doucouré. Cold Open and Elevator Review (7 minutes). Full review (final 23 minutes.)
In this episode I had the opportunity to bring in Corey Douglass who had me on his YouTube show (The Mr. Douglass Sports Show: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4aJR3LeubDkD4-hQi-qxlg) a few weeks ago. We talked about his show and Luka being named to the All-NBA First team. We then got into his list of guys under the most pressure in the playoffs and how they’ve performed before discussing Rick Carlisle and the conference finals. The final 15 minutes was spent answering your questions. Enjoy!
There are no reviews this week so I took the time to announce some changes. After some thought, analysis, and studying the podcast game I’ve decided to change the format of the movie side of the podcast. I’m excited and I think you’ll appreciate the shift. I also went over the meager Covid box office numbers and tell you which movies to look out for this coming week.
Reese and I got into a lot of different things in the bonus content. We discussed KD and Lebron’s legacies with their decisions and how we don’t want that for Giannis. (15 minutes). We talked Big Ben Pistons, 2011 Mavs and then got into Stephen A Smith’s comments on Nash very briefly.
**Audio note** Throughout the convo you may notice Reese responding before I finish speaking. There appears to have been a slight delay in my audio on the recording. **end audio note** The conversation with Reese went almost an hour and a half but we cut it down. We spent a good bit of time talking about him being a Mavs and Saints fan despite being a Baltimore native and I got into my background as well. How I became a Mavs and Ravens fan. After that we got into the Mavs season, Patrick Beverly and being pleasantly surprised with the playoff showing. We then got into offseason moves. Who should stay, who should go. Who should we pursue in the offseason (Beal? Jrue? Oladipo?), then we start to get off track and I have to stop it mid-Giannis talk.
This week was all about heavily Oscar Nominated Directors Christopher Nolan and Charlie Kaufman. Their styles could not be more different and that is heavily reflected in these two movies. I get into the box office results for Tenet and the quick reviews in the cold open (7 minutes), then deliver the Tenet review (13 minutes,) and the Im thinking of ending things review (7 minutes) before closing with two movies that might be of interest for the coming week.
In tonight’s episode I welcomed a special guest in the controversial @Kenny_817. A long time fan of the Mavs, Kenny and I go way back on Mavs twitter and our old school ways sometimes clash with the new fans. We address this, talk bigs like Drummond and Gobert, discuss the Dwight Powell situation, and then get into offseason plans like chasing Bradley Beal. Enjoy!
This week I first talked about the sudden passing of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman (10 minutes), (9 minutes) intro and Elevator Reviews for the 3 movies. (20 minutes) going deeper in talking about the movies.
It’s the first of two pods I recorded on my birthday. (That’s how dedicated I am to you, the people). We go through takeaways from these playoffs in our cold open (11 minutes), Game stats/talk (15 minutes), Questions (32 minutes)
(16 minutes) on the players efforts toward getting real change implemented by the owners and the league to help move black lives matter efforts forward. (5 minutes) on how the postponements will affect the Mavs-Clippers series. (33 minutes) answering your basketball and non-basketball related questions.
This was a rough game to watch. The Clippers finally realized they’re bigger than us and used that to beat us into submission. Playoff P woke up, and Harrell was forced to have a good game. Tonight we looked like we were missing a 30 point per game guy. I started the pod by being candid about the players and their statements about the Blake shooting (6 minutes), Cold open (7 minutes), game talk (14 minutes), questions (18 minutes). ***at the start of the game talk portion of the cold open I said Kane Fitzgerald tossed Luka in game 1, obviously it was KP that was tossed.***
On this pod you get my live reaction to the shot, a listener submission and then we get into the game. KP was a late scratch due to his sore knee and Luka played despite his ankle injury. Trey Burke, Boban, and Seth continue to be big for us. I answer some questions as well. Oh, and Playoff P still sucks. (12 minute open, 20 minutes game talk, 15 minutes on questions.)
This game ended rough with Luka Doncic being unable to finish the game. What looked like a potentially bad ankle sprain sidelined Luka and now we’ll wait to see how long. In the meantime, PG continues to struggle and Seth and Trey Burke continue to get buckets off the bench. I also decided to allow myself to get controversial by addressing the idea of “white boy” as a racial slur. (11 minute cold open, 15 minutes game talk, 17 minutes on the slur situation)
When you look at this game on paper the Mavs were far from perfect but still managed to come out with a strong victory over most people’s favorite to take the title. Burke, Boban, and Curry combined for 44. It was an all around performance from the Mavs and the Clippers will need to make some major adjustments before game 3. 10 minute cold open, 13 on the numbers, 13 on questions and announcements.
Tonight we talk about Luka dropping a playoff record (for a debut) of 42 points. The Mavs defensive gameplan being perfect, and how KP being ejected put a damper on an otherwise great night. There was a lot to love in this game for sure. I also mention my appearance on The Mr. Douglass sports show on YouTube.
This week we talk about the Netflix Blockbuster Project Power featuring Jamie Foxx, the Kevin James movie Becky, and a movie from the co-writer of Pulp Fiction called Lucky Day. In this episode I introduce “elevator reviews” to the podcast in the cold open for those who want to avoid all spoilers.
No KP, Luka plays 13 minutes, DFS and Maxi play 10 as the Mavs rest up going into their matchup against the Clippers. Boban puts up 18 and 20 in 29 minutes. (3 minute cold open, 10 minutes on the game, last 14 answering questions.)
The Mavs gave themselves a shot to win against a desperate team but in the end there was just too much Dame and we lost the free throw contest. The Mavs filled the stat sheet but just couldn’t get enough stops. I go over the game, my thoughts, and answer some questions. (10 minute cold open, 21 minutes about the game, last 9 minutes answering questions.)
In today’s recap it’s all about the support staff as our role players stepped up to pull out this win. We saw appearances from rarely seen guys and I’ll tell you what I liked from certain guys and how it may help us going forward. (4 minute cold open, 16 minutes of talk about the game, 6 minutes where I answer a couple of questions and give some updates.)
This week I had big plans and was supposed to watch 3 movies. I ended up watching 1, and it wasn’t one of the 3 I had named. Limbo, however, was a pleasant surprise and I tell you why. Since I only had one movie to review I decided to tell you my AT@T story as well. Enjoy.
Luka dropped a career high 19 dimes against the reigning MVP and simply made the Bucks look silly all night. DFS scores 27 while THJ, Seth, and KP have off nights. (4 minute cold open, 22 minutes game summary, 22 minutes questions)
Tonight we got a taste of what we will see in the playoffs vs the Clippers although they didn’t have Pat Beverly getting under Luka’s skin or Harrell to beat up Maxi and KP but a team with big wings and big bigs and shooting wings and shooting bigs and depth... 2 minute cold open, 24 minute rant, last 25 minutes answering your questions.
The Mavs yet again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and it’s becoming harder and harder to believe we’re a threat to anyone. I then answer questions like: “Are Luka’s stats misleading? And “Is Carlisle the right coach for this team?”
This week was all about the ladies as I watched 3 films with young women in the lead role. Yes, God, Yes is a coming of age story where Natalia Dyer is a Catholic school girl discovering herself and her body. Swallow addresses the compulsion to swallow random objects. And Babyteeth is the latest movie about a teenager dealing with cancer.
I FINALLY get around to announcing my award winners after a 5 month delay. Quick S/o to Cory, Raymond, Mike, and Tyler for helping me choose my winners. (Their info is on the podcast). Episode minutes: First 10 minutes intro, Best Music, Best Genre Movie, Best Fictional Movie, Best Movie Based on a True Story, Best Young (18 or under) lead, Best Young Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Female, Best Supporting Male, Best Male Lead, Best Storytelling, and finally Best Female Lead. Each award takes 3-6 minutes to announce.
In this episode Bibs discusses his appearance on the MFFL’s podcast, then warns you not to watch Amazon Prime horror film “The Lodge.” Prepares you emotionally for “Athlete A.” Then tells you why you might not hate “A Fatal Affair” as much as everyone is saying you will. Later I realized I watched a 4th movie, Hulu/Blumhouse’s collaboration Into the Dark released its latest entry: “The Current Occupant”
For the first 5 minutes I catch you up on where I’ve been since February and the things I have coming your way. From there, I tackle the 5 movies I watched this week. In order: Homewrecker (indie Horror/Comedy), Ghost (Indie crime/drama), The Vast of Night (Suspense), Palm Springs (Romantic Comedy/Sci fi), and finally The Old Guard (Fantasy/Action).
I took the time to finally put my thoughts about the division within the Mavs fanbase into words. I hope that breaking down the different perspectives can help us understand each other and slow down some of the bickering. Enjoy!
