The past days have tested our patience, endurance, and sheer willpower. On March 17, we returned to our old apartment to retrieve our things, but the experience was anything but smooth. I felt uneasy and nervous, not knowing what to expect—especially with the Hausfrau who might be waiting at the door with her dog.Before heading in, we took a moment to smoke by the river, trying to calm down. But we had no choice—we had to go. It wasn’t just about our belongings; it was a legal obligation.But when we arrived, she refused to let us in. 🚪❌We called the police, thinking they would help enforce the law. But to our disappointment, they couldn't—or wouldn’t—do anything. They didn’t force the door open, didn’t insist on upholding the legal right we thought we had. And just like that, we were left stranded, helpless, and unheard.In the Philippines, this situation would have played out differently. The police wouldn’t have left until things were settled.
