13: Fibro triggers & PTSD w/ Eva

Here's part 2 of Eva's episode!! We talk a lot about how things like trauma and illness can trigger fibromyalgia, and the PTSD that can result. Trigger warning ⚠️ mention of sexual assault & mental illness. Nothing graphic or intense, but heavy topics. Also fun stuff! Enjoy :)

Episode 11: Sick at School part 2

Episode 11: Sick at School part 2

In part 2 of my "the Wonders of Being Sick at School" series, I describe my experience going to three different colleges. I had my plans thwarted many times, and I haven't been able to have the college experience that I wanted.

Chronic pain / illnesses can mess with a lot of stuff; school is definitely no exception. I struggled with feelings of failure and inadequacy throughout my schooling, especially college. That is a time to grow into yourself for a lot of people, and it was hard seeing others progress in the ways I couldn't.

Luckily, at some point, I decided that nobody's opinion nor a degree (that I can't even use right now) is worth all the anxiety and stress that I was putting myself through trying to keep up.

Maybe I'll finish my Bachelor's when I'm 50. Maybe I'll marry rich (LOL) and won't even need a degree. There is no way to know right now, so I'm trying to stress less about it.

Hopefully my story will resonate with you & make you feel less alone. I'd love to hear your school-related stories as well!

Enjoy this quick episode & come hang on social media!

Have a great weekend

Ep. 10: Chronic2Wear

Ep. 10: Chronic2Wear

I was lucky enough to speak with Nic from Chronic2Wear this week. He tells me all about his journey with Lyme disease and how he's channeled his pain & suffering into a creative outlet that can inspire not only himself, but others who are struggling as well.

Nic hasn't had the easiest road to health, but he doesn't let that stop him from going out of his way to ease the suffering of others- even just for a moment.

Follow Nic @chronic2wear!!

Enjoy :)

Episode 8: "You're Too Young"

On Episode 8, Marlo and I discuss what it's like to be young with a chronic illness. This includes using disability aides when you look perfectly healthy, which can lead to confusion. I'm so tired. :)

Episode 6: Managing School & Work with a Chronic Illness

Episode 6: Managing School & Work with a Chronic Illness

Welcome back to Medical Mystery THE Podcast.

In this episode my special guest host tells me all about how they experienced the effects of chronic illness on their work and school. I can definitely relate, and I don't think I am alone.

This is an issue; sick people need to be treated with more respect and understanding. Compassion goes a long way but, unfortunately, it can be hard to find.

What are your thoughts? Have you had any discriminatory experiences like this (however mild)? What do you think could/should be done differently?

Let me know on Instagram or Twitter @medmystpod, or Facebook as Medical Mystery the Podcast.
