Building Access To Bitcoin For Everyone w/ SeedSigner

Building Access To Bitcoin For Everyone w/ SeedSigner

To be frank, I didn’t expect this podcast to be so profound!

When I invited SeedSigner on to talk about his project, I was hoping to discuss all the cool technical aspects, his ideas for the future and Bitcoin 2022. While we touched on all of these awesome things, what I found really compelling in our conversation was the guiding principles of the project SeedSigner highlighted.

Having access to Bitcoin, an open monetary network that does not debase your wealth, is a human right. Many countries or jurisdictions may stifle the bitcoin industry, making it impossible for some people to acquire hardware wallets that are otherwise common in the world. This project is an example of open-source software and engineering coming together to provide ever increasing access to Bitcoin.

SeedSigner highlighted the importance of providing access to custody solutions that prioritize the DIY, verifiable and transparent aspects of hardware and software. While he did say that the project could potentially some day have a second form that would increase scalability and minimize self assembly, there are no solid plans for this now, as their full attention remains on the DIY side of things.

One thing that stuck out to me from the conversation was his highlighting of the importance of fungibility and privacy. The two go hand in hand — if certain UTXOs are being labeled as criminal, those UTXOs must be subject to scrutiny that would deem them so. We also discussed if he thought CoinJoin and other similar privacy implementations are the key to this.

Of course, I can’t help but ask our current guests about Bitcoin 2022 — especially considering SeedSigner will be speaking there! If you haven’t already, please check out his article on his experience at Bitcoin 2021. In it, he details how it was his first real Bitcoin gathering, introducing his project and more.

At Bitcoin 2022, SeedSigner expressed his desire to continue to discuss his project with other people, but also, to finally catch up on all the other projects and happenings in the industry that seem to be flying by. I can fully relate to this feeling.

Make sure to check out the entire podcast and follow SeedSigner on Twitter for more updates on this project. And of course, I hope to see you all in Miami!

The Bitcoin Freedom Ride Across America

The Bitcoin Freedom Ride Across America

Motorcycle riding – the smell of oil, burnt rubber and leather in the sun is an intoxicating experience. The open road laid out before you can take you anywhere and it's in this situation that true freedom can be felt. What’s a better idea than taking this maximally free form of movement and taking it across America, land of the free, to celebrate Bitcoin, the freedom money? I don’t think there is a better person to take on this journey than Captain Sidd, an author here at Bitcoin Magazine and Bitcoin pleb extraordinaire. He will be launching his journey at Bitcoin 2022, happening April sixth through the ninth in Miami.

Beyond his glorious journey, we discussed his views on home mining and how it benefits Bitcoiners. There are so many use cases and interesting routes for the technology to go, especially for those who can harness their own energy.

Be sure to give the written interview below a read and check out the podcast.

How Bitcoin And Food Are A Revolution

How Bitcoin And Food Are A Revolution

I felt truly lucky having had a conversation with Texas Slim on the food supply, bitcoin, and the Beef Initiative. It's almost as if I’m privy to a revolution quietly growing amongst our communities; a food revolution. As people’s eyes are opened in regards to the centralization of our money supply, so too will their eyes open in regards to the centralization of the food supply, Slim explained. It was his own journey down the bitcoin rabbit hole that coincided with his journey down the food rabbit hole. After learning about how he can connect ranchers to consumers, and how that can improve not only community relations, but eliminate the regression in our food supply — it became his mission. Be sure to check out his contact information below if you’re interested in participating in the Beef Initiative, and to give the full podcast a listen — it’s worth it!

Simple Steps You Can Take To Help Further Bitcoin

Simple Steps You Can Take To Help Further Bitcoin

Bitcoiner Brian Harrington talked about how you can limit your exposure to fiat, bring Bitcoin into your community and plan for the future.

Hyperbitcoinization is happening in real time. For fiat, the end is nigh. And no one explains this better than Brian Harrington. For him, Bitcoin is a lifestyle. Every day, the actions he takes center around furthering Bitcoin. Brian and I discussed many interesting topics in this episode of Meet The Plebs, but none are as fascinating to him as the “get on zero” movement. Described as maximally limiting your exposure to fiat usage and holdings, Brian talked about how this movement is a part of making hyperbitcoinization the reality of today. We also discussed planning for the future, stress and many other interesting topics. Be sure to check out the written interview below, and the podcast as well.

Good Writing Is Critical To Bitcoin Adoption

Good Writing Is Critical To Bitcoin Adoption

Writing high quality Bitcoin material helps to educate audiences, promote best practices and bring about adoption faster.

Bitcoiners like to read. Something about the knowledge expansion offered by bitcoin is addicting — and in the pursuit of learning, there is no substitute for reading. And for all of the wonderful Bitcoin knowledge and related knowledge we have, it must have been written! As Shawn Amick explained, he takes his writing seriously because it may be people’s first encounter with bitcoin. In our interview, he talked about how reading is the best way for people to learn Bitcoin quickly — and only through effective writing can we provide people with the best information possible.

Bitcoin for Boomers

Bitcoin for Boomers

The last time I talked to a lawyer, it wasn’t this fun. Mark Maraia, author, contributor and now contributor liaison here at Bitcoin Magazine, has incredible insight into various industries that are all impacted by Bitcoin. As he explained, there was a nagging feeling of looming problems and inefficiencies in many of the industries he’d worked in — but it wasn’t until 2020 that he realized bitcoin presents the solution to many of these issues. We expand on his perspective on health, how he relates bitcoin to fellow boomers, and networking at Bitcoin 2022. Be sure to check out the podcast and written interview below.

How Bitcoin Will Transform Society’s Understanding Of Energy

How Bitcoin Will Transform Society’s Understanding Of Energy

Mark Goodwin describes his bitcoin initiation, the relationship between energy and bitcoin and more.

In a perfect universe, energy could be stored with zero degradation over time, a perfect battery. While the laws of thermodynamics deny this possibility, Bitcoin is the best representation of an entropy resistant monetary system that humans have ever seen. Few explain this as well as Mark Goodwin can, and he did so in our most recent episode of Meet The Plebs, the first on Bitcoin Magazine Live. Check out our interview where he explains how he got into Bitcoin, its impacts on the world and more.

The Long Road To Bitcoin Expertise Is Worth The Work

The Long Road To Bitcoin Expertise Is Worth The Work

Competency in any subject can take hard work and dedication. But Bitcoin, being both technically oriented and encompassing so many disciplines, can be especially challenging. I discussed this idea and much more with Chris Alaimo, one of our recent employee additions here at Bitcoin Magazine. His work in multimedia made him a perfect fit for the video side of our magazine, and it was excellent to hear how he first got into bitcoin, lessons learned and what he’s looking forward to.

How I Envision Bitcoin Impacting The Political World with Grant McCarty

How I Envision Bitcoin Impacting The Political World with Grant McCarty

My conversation with Grant McCarty was one of my favorite pleb interviews I’ve conducted so far. Whether you believe in the power of political advocacy or not, you cannot help but understand and appreciate the passion he obviously has for advancing Bitcoin. In this interview, we discussed what spurred this passion, and how he envisions Bitcoin’s impact on the political world. While particular to the United States, I think everyone can see the benefit of grassroots organization and change McCarty describes in the interview. It was quite compelling, at least to me, to hear from McCarty that the mobilization around the infrastructure bill was well heard by lawmakers. This was a nice change from the often negative perspective on political action in the Bitcoin community at large.

Orange Pilling with Music with Pleb Music

Music is a wonderful thing. Bitcoin, too, is a wonderful thing. Combine them and you have a simply fascinating mixture. One of my favorite people to work with here at Bitcoin Magazine, Pleb Music, discussed this and much more with me in our latest episode of Meet The Plebs. His time in bitcoin has been spent combining two of his passions, and it eventually led to work in the industry. I believe that this combination of passion and professionality is what makes the bitcoin space truly special — every single person working in it is driven by a unique desire to enact change in the world. This was quite apparent in the conversation I had with Pleb Music, so be sure to check out the podcast.

How Learning About Bitcoin Leads To Self Reflection with Louis Shulman

How Learning About Bitcoin Leads To Self Reflection with Louis Shulman

While on the journey to understanding bitcoin — which never really ends — one might find themselves confronting beliefs they’ve held for a long time. Ideas, whether they be related to the economy, history, politics or self sovereignty, are all reflected in bitcoin in a particular-to-bitcoin way. What bitcoin offers us is a nontraditional base unit, both in the network and asset, upon which we can expand ideas which were normally unchallenged, at least in the mainstream. These could be ideas like the future relying much more upon fossil fuels than the mainstream media may represent. Or the idea that incentive alignment will help improve our political system. I explored this idea-challenging attribute of Bitcoin with our very own Louis Shulman, another new addition to the BTC. Inc team.

How My Proof of Work Got Me A Bitcoin Job with Namcios

How My Proof of Work Got Me A Bitcoin Job with Namcios

“Go to college. You won’t ever experience success if you don’t go to college.” I, as I’m sure many others have, heard this or variants of it hundreds of times. In a world where everyone is encouraged to attend secondary education, a large emphasis is placed on credentials and whether or not people have them. But the Bitcoin industry is different. The impact of one’s work in the space is entirely judged by the value you provide. If you can submit a body of work worthy of appreciation, then you will have a spot in this industry, regardless of prior credentials. I discussed this beautiful idea and more with our very own Namcios.

Why I Left The Traditional Finance World For Bitcoin with Austin Herbert

Why I Left The Traditional Finance World For Bitcoin with Austin Herbert

The traditional finance world can be one of lucrative returns. Those who work in this industry know, it can be hard to resist those returns. The proximity of the finance world to the fiat spigot has fed the pig of corporate gluttony fat. And yet, there are those who wish not to eat of this hog. Those who have glimpsed a world where progress is not nominal; where proof-of-work is the only way forward, and embracing the slow deflationary traits of technology is paramount. This world allures the few who dare to question where exactly all the money is coming from — and how lucky Bitcoin Magazine is, that our very own Austin Herbert answered this call.

Here’s Why The Culture Of Bitcoin Changes The World with AllenHODL

A world of fiat currency, is a world of fiat culture. Although critics of Bitcoin Maximalists say that fixing culture with Bitcoin is a stretch, I’ve had the pleasure of editing many articles for the magazine which address the various ways in which the technology is capable of impacting our culture. I was lucky enough to discuss these ideas with Allen, an account manager on the conference team who recently joined us here at BTC Inc. In our conversation, we touched on what impact bitcoin can have on individuals and their families, the life lessons to be learned from Bitcoin, and more.

Bitcoin Is A Financial Future of Hope with Dion Guillaume

Our entire purpose is to ensure hyperbitcoinization through education and evangelism. One of my favorite contributors here at the magazine, Dion Guillaume, discussed these ideas with me in our recent episode. We touched on how bitcoin was first represented in the media, how bitcoin brings financial freedom to people, what is important to understand about bitcoin and more.

Bitcoin Is A Clear Solution To An Unclear Problem with Captain Siddh

Bitcoin Is A Clear Solution To An Unclear Problem with Captain Siddh

When first explaining bitcoin to people, it can be difficult to find a place to begin. After consuming endless amounts of content that discuss economics, philosophy and history, there is not a single clear place to start. Of course, it helps to tailor each introduction that you present to the person you are presenting to, as with anything. But one key factor in understanding bitcoin, as Captain Siddh (@CaptainSiddh) and I discussed on this week's episode, is helping others understand the problems bitcoin solves. In addition to this, we discussed what introduced Siddh to bitcoin, how it has changed his life and his predictions for the future.

Low Time Preference, Bitcoin and Health with Mind / Matter

Mind/Matter is a fantastic contributor here at the magazine who also has a popular Twitter account where he focuses on health and lifestyle in addition to Bitcoin. I’m a big fan of the content he posts, and felt it would be interesting to address the intersection between these two subjects. In this episode, we explored how he got into Bitcoin, and how that has impacted his life. Of course, the low-time preference mechanics and incentives of bitcoin quickly appealed to his understanding of health excellence. As we explored, it became apparent that these two ideas are very much hand in hand — the preservation of one’s wealth and the preservation of one’s health.

Bitcoin Is A Bright Light In A Dark Place with OtterBTC

Bitcoin Is A Bright Light In A Dark Place with OtterBTC

Although the general sentiment of the Bitcoin community and that of Bitcoin Magazine is one of hope and optimism, the real world is often not so straightforward.

One of our recent posts discussed the reality of addiction, and how this relates to the fiat world and debt. I believe that this is an important topic that touches nearly everyone. With drug and alcohol addiction widespread in the United States, almost everyone knows a friend or family member impacted. Addiction can also be found, in a way, in our fiat monetary system and the debt cycle it proliferates.

OtterBTC, a former drug and alcohol addict himself, and I discussed both of these topics in this podcast episode, so be sure to give it a listen, and check out his article.

Mukai contributes to Bitcoin in so many ways, and we are very lucky to have him here at the magazine. In this episode, we discussed his background that brought him into Bitcoin, including the skill sets which have allowed him to contribute to the space. We also talked about how Bitcoin has changed his life, his favorite piece he’s edited here at the magazine and what he’s personally looking forward to in the industry. After listening to the podcast, be sure to check out the written interview below!

Bitcoin Doesn’t Have To Be Complicated with Nameless

Bitcoin Doesn’t Have To Be Complicated with Nameless

Bitcoin can be a daunting thing to learn about. It involves the study of several different fields, from computer science to economics. At Bitcoin Magazine, we always hope to be able to educate our readers on the basics of Bitcoin. We offer a guides section, and have a large selection of books in our store. One of my parts about the magazine are contributor articles designed to simplify complex ideas. Nameless, one of our contributors here at the magazine, has sent in several of these articles, including “A Gentle Introduction To The Lightning Network,” “So, What Are Bitcoin Miners Actually Doing?” and “An Overview Of Bitcoin’s Cryptography.”

All of these articles are extremely high quality, and they take some of the more difficult to grasp subjects in Bitcoin and simplify them for the reader.

Being Optimistic About The Future Of Bitcoin with Josef Tětek

Being Optimistic About The Future Of Bitcoin with Josef Tětek

Austrian economics is a very common topic of discussion and study within the bitcoin community. Being the base economic theory upon which we find bitcoin resting, it makes sense that understanding this would be a primary lead for someone to get into bitcoin. Josef Tětek, one of our regular contributors here at Bitcoin Magazine, is an example of this.

Tětek has written some fantastic articles for us, including “Your Financial Data Is Not Private, Bitcoin Can Fix That,” “Here’s Why Bitcoin Will Rejuvenate Your Hope In Life,” and “Bitcoin Is The Sustainable Money Europe Deserves.”  Bullish on both bitcoin and on life, Tětek maintains an optimistic outlook that bears witness to the good bitcoin is capable of doing.

In our interview, we discussed how his foundations in Austrian economics lead him to Bitcoin, and how the reverse is often true of bitcoiners. We then discussed how Bitcoin has impacted his life, both in personal preferences and in his career. We touched on what he believes is the most important part of people’s bitcoin education — in his opinion, an understanding of fiat. Finally, we discussed what he is looking forward to in the space, and his bullish price thoughts. He said, “in the short term, we are usually too optimistic. In the long term, we are too pessimistic."

Check out the podcast above and be sure to read our written interview.

Memes Will Take Bitcoin To The Moon with @Chad_Capital

Memes Will Take Bitcoin To The Moon with @Chad_Capital

Understanding bitcoin can change your life. Once you do understand it, your entire system for evaluating what is worthy of your time, money and effort is also changed. I discussed this idea and more with The Bitcoin Conference’s latest addition to the team, Brad, on Twitter as @Chad_Capital.

He and I discussed how he first heard about Bitcoin, which was a result of the infectious excitement many feel about Bitcoin once they understand it.

In addition to this, we discussed the power of memes and how they, through humor, convey commonly understood ideas of the absurdity of the fiat world we live in.

We finally finish off with what he is looking forward to in the bitcoin space, including a shoutout for Bitcoin 2022, and his final bullish price prediction.

Bitcoin and Education w/ Satoshi Sarah

Bitcoin and Education w/ Satoshi Sarah

In this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s  “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I sat down with Satoshi Sarah, a new addition to the Bitcoin Magazine team.

Sarah is extremely passionate about bitcoin education, which is what she will be working on at the magazine. She believes in the freedom and sovereignty offered by bitcoin, and is fascinated by the diversity in the community.

Like me, Sarah is a zoomer, and sees life through a lens only offered by the experiences zoomers have collectively gone through. With events like the 2008 stock market crash and the 2020 coronavirus being focal points in our (relatively) short lives, the necessity for sound money has become apparent.

For Sarah, the best way to bring about hyperbitcoinization and all that entails is through education. But in order to have an infrastructure to educate people on, she believes that layered protocols built on top of Bitcoin are the key to mainstream adoption. She envisions a Bitcoin industry that utilizes these layers in order to overcome the all too often expressed FUD in regards to scalability.

I entirely agree with her, and I personally see Lightning as a main example of this.

The Importance of Orange Pills w/ Pleb.Hodl of Bull Bitcoin

Pleb.Hodl, Bull Bitcoin’s new head of marketing, discussed his rabbit hold journey and the importance of welcoming precoiners.

In this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s "Meet The Taco Plebs," I sat down with Bull Bitcoin’s newest head of marketing, Pleb.Hodl (@btcplebeian on Twitter) to discuss his unique Bitcoin rabbit hole story, his new position at Bull Bitcoin, the effect Bitcoin has on one’s mindset and much more.

Pleb.Hodl went into detail about his experience being “fiat pilled” coming out of university and the awakening that he had after being around people that advocated for bigger government. Along with this, we discussed the effects that believing in the ideals around Bitcoin has on individuals and society in general.

To finish, we delved into his new position at Bull Bitcoin and the excitement he has for the opportunity to work with the team there and build a phenomenal platform for true Bitcoiners.

Stories and Bitcoin with Nelson Chen

In this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was lucky enough to sit down with one of my favorite contributors here at the magazine, Nelson Chen. I have worked with Chen to publish six of his twelve part series about Jordan Peterson’s book, “Beyond Order.”

In his series, Chen discusses a variety of topics. Many of these topics relate back to the idea of stories told across generations - allegories and discussions that help to explain the world we live in. Chen believes that these stories are what we can use to help navigate the future, and that they are also very much related to Bitcoin and the issues we will face as we continue towards hyperbitcoinization.

In this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s "Meet The Taco Plebs," I sat down with the pleb Zac Watson (@zwatson on Twitter) to discuss his bitcoin rabbit hole story, his thoughts on bitcoin’s impact on life, and his future price predictions.

Zac went into detail about his friends introducing him to Bitcoin in 2013 and the passion they had for Bitcoin sparking an interest in Bitcoin for himself. We discussed Bitcoin 2021 and all the great experiences we had throughout the weekend.

To finish, we touched on what he believes is the most amazing part of bitcoin, most importantly the fact that Bitcoin allows people to alleviate themselves from government oppression to become self sovereign. As well as detailing how welcoming the Bitcoin community is.

Self Sovereignty with Btc_Log

In this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s Meet The Taco Plebs, Casey Carrillo sat down with Twitter pleb @btc_log to discuss his bitcoin rabbit hole story, his thoughts on bitcoin’s impact on life, and his future price predictions.

Btc_log goes into detail about how he started out in Bitcoin with mining, and how he believes this introduction showed him the most important and valuable aspects of the Bitcoin network. We discuss his lowering time preference, as the ever-contemptuous world around us attempts to extract our wealth from us.

Finally we touch on what he believes is the most amazing part of bitcoin, in that bitcoin is self sovereign, and that no one can take away the ability to utilize the Bitcoin network.

Bullish On Bitcoin Zoomers With Atlas

Bullish On Bitcoin Zoomers With Atlas

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by Atlas HODL (@AtlasHodl), a sat stacking hustler and Bitcoin zoomer.

This is my last episode hosting Meet The Taco Plebs and I co-hosted it with Casey, who will be taking over as host of the show. Our fellow team member Tyler will also be hosting episodes for this podcast, so stay tuned for that!

This interview started off with Atlas’s rabbit hole story in early 2020. He found Bitcoin during the start of the pandemic when he couldn't travel because of restrictions, and couldn't work. He knew he had to make money out of the bad situation, turning it into a good situation. So he googled investments looking for the best one and ultimately found Bitcoin.

Atlas shares the legendary story from last year when many Bitcoiners came together and donated to Atlas sats in an attempt to make him a full coiner. After Atlas was gifted many sats, he tweeted and asked people to stop donating because he had enough, but the community didn't listen. They were determined to make Atlas a full coiner, and they did. Now Atlas is a strong HODLer and a determined Bitcoiner.

He shares how Bitcoin has changed his life for the better, allowing him to upgrade his living situation and eat better food. This also has allowed him to focus on improving himself by reading, working out, and learning to code. He sees the opportunity that Bitcoin has given him and is taking full advantage to become the best person he can possibly be. This is the stuff that I admire and separates Bitcoiners from others.

Atlas talks about Strike and other layer 2 applications he’s bullish on and how that can improve the life of people in his home country of Colombia. We discussed how Bitcoin makes people more peaceful and how powerful of a tool Bitcoin is, resulting in less violence and more cooperation.

We also discuss Atlas’s future plans and what he has in mind for his foreseeable future. Everything he was saying made me realize he has good mental strength, conviction, and is stopping at nothing to get what he wants out of life. This young zoomer is going to do big things in the future, and I couldn’t be more bullish on him.

Bullish On Lightning Network With Thomas Jestopher

Bullish On Lightning Network With Thomas Jestopher

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by Thomas Jestopher (@Jestopher_BTC), a Lightning enthusiast and co-host of Bitcoin Kindergarten.

We kick off this interview by Jestopher sharing his rabbit hole story, discussing his first attempt to buy bitcoin from Mt Gox in 2015. In order to buy bitcoin from there, you had to wire money to the exchange in Japan, and his bank actually blocked his transaction, forcing him to look for other avenues to acquire BTC.

Using faucets, Jestopher was able to stack some sats in trade for his time watching ads on websites. He did this for a while, but didn’t make his first actual purchase until the bull run in 2017. At the time, he worked in a bank call center where he saw just how corrupt and unfair banks are to their customers. This in addition to the price catching his attention, caused him to fall deep down the rabbit hole.

Jestopher shares his thoughts on how Bitcoin inspires innovation for builders and entrepreneurs to flourish. Since the Bitcoin protocol does not change, and upgrades only happen so often, that people now have a solid base layer they know will always be there, and they know nothing will change up on them in a negative way. This gives builders comfort knowing that they’re building on a solid foundation.

Jestopher was one of the many people who got inspired to build on Bitcoin, and saw massive potential in the Lightning Network. We discuss the entrepreneurial opportunities that pop up thanks to Lightning and how people can become more independent from taking tips on the 2ed layer solution. Then we get his thoughts on using the Lightning Network on top of Bitcoin as a medium of exchange.

Austrian Economics And Understanding Bitcoin with Hodlberry

Austrian Economics And Understanding Bitcoin with Hodlberry

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by Hodlberry (@hodlberry), a faithful, honest, and hardworking pleb.

This conversation started off with Hodlberry sharing his Bitcoin rabbit hole story. He goes into detail on some fun things he was doing at the time he found Bitcoin, like hosting a gun related podcast. Then he shares how when he first got into the space he bought some shitcoins, but ended his shitcoin phase early as he already understood Austrian Economics. From my own personal experience and seeing others as well, having/learning Austrian Economic teachings is crucial to getting a firm understanding of Bitcoin. Because of this understanding of Austrian Economics, he was already into gold and silver, but dropped those for more bitcoin eventually.

Before Bitcoin, Hodlberry was living above his means and not saving a lot of money. Now with Bitcoin, he has adopted a lower time preference which is causing him to live below his means, and save more in Bitcoin. He shares his thoughts on the book Human Action by Ludwig von Mises and why it’s so important. This is a book I’ve yet to read, but I have read similar book to this such as The Theory of Money & Credit by Mises and the lessons you learn in these books are life changing.

We also got into topics like home schooling children, how Bitcoin solved the problem of triple entry accounting, what Hodlberry wants to see moving forward with the Lightning Network, and more.

Bitcoin Reinforces Good Habits With The Littlest Bitcoin Boomer

Bitcoin Reinforces Good Habits With The Littlest Bitcoin Boomer

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by The Littlest Bitcoin Boomer (@littlesthodler), an optimistic, sat-stacking pleb.

We start off this interview by going over The Littlest Bitcoin Boomer’s rabbit hole story, diving into what brought him to Bitcoin. Littlest shares he was going through a rough patch in his life, making bad decisions and being dishonest. Then he found Bitcoin, and his life did a complete 180. He shares how Bitcoin changed him and why Bitcoin reinforced good habits. He jumped onto Twitter to look for more discussion about Bitcoin, found the plebs, and joined. I like to say that the taco plebs are like a pack of wolves. The wolves take care and look after each other, will defending off and attacking any threat that is present.

Littlest also shares some of his insights as to what’s going on over in Canada with the monthly $2,000 stimulus checks, and their “shaky liberal government.”

He then shares how he loves Bitcoin’s equality and why it’s great. He explains that everyone stacks the sats they deserve. It’s another form of proof of work, you put in the work to earn fiat (or bitcoin straight up) to then buy and hodl bitcoin. You get to choose how much effort you put into stacking, and no one has an advantage over you. Everyone plays by the same rules, and no one can change that. It is up to the individual now to stack as much as they want.

We go into why rules, not rulers, and how this is important to Bitcoin. We discuss how Bitcoin levels the playing field and I think the plebs are going to dominate in the future. Why? Because We are hardworking, smart and passionate individuals who do what’s best for ourselves and Bitcoin. This conversation got me really bullish, and I know it will make you bullish as well.

Building A Career In Bitcoin With BtcCasey

Building A Career In Bitcoin With BtcCasey

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by BtcCasey (@BtcCasey), a young gun who loves to write about Bitcoin.

The other week, Casey flew into town with the rest of the Bitcoin Magazine team and I got the chance to meet him in person. Casey, the team, and I hung out all week and got to know each other a lot better, and I knew I just had to get him on the show.

Casey is a Bitcoin zoomer, writing about Bitcoin and making a career out of it. I think it’s fantastic to see other young people pursuing their passions and aiming to be successful. Casey has a bright future and is making really smart moves right now that are building a foundation for his future self to really excel from. If you’re not reading his articles, you probably should be.

In this interview, Casey discusses how getting involved in Bitcoin changed his career path, as well as his educational goals. He was previously in the healthcare industry and realized he wanted to leave to pursue writing, and he did just that. His time preference has lowered which has influenced the way he thinks about this future. He knows adopting a low-time preference at a young age comes with lots of benefits, and he’s trying to capitalize on all of it.

He shares his thoughts on the leverage that Bitcoin gives individuals to view the world in a different light. Bitcoin is extremely powerful and has the ability to give people freedom from that leverage. The task of achieving financial freedom is pretty difficult under a fiat standard, but Bitcoin fixes this.

Surfing, Construction, and Bitcoin With Surfer Jim

Surfing, Construction, and Bitcoin With Surfer Jim

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by Surfer Jim (@surferjimw), a principled and hardworking pleb.

We start off this conversation by Jim sharing how he found Bitcoin and fell down the rabbit hole. He talks about his childhood and how he was always an entrepreneur & builder. He liked to break things down, see how it operated, and build it back together. Hands-on work like this teaches you a lot about how and why things work and are the way they are. He also talks about how he used to earn money as a kid digging for clams. This was an easy way to make a quick buck, though some days weren’t as good as others. This then lead Jim to a new opportunity.

One of Jim’s buddies offered him a job in a different field of work, and he jumped on the opportunity. He then worked 5-6 years as a salesman, but after listening to a motivational speech he knew he wanted to go a different type of work. Construction, because he knew he made great quality stuff that he could sell and build trust with his customers. This is where Bitcoin comes in, because Bitcoin helps build trust between him and his customers.

After his rabbit hole story, we talk about how schools don’t teach kids about money and why that’s bad. Learning about money today is a totally different separate process you have to partake in away from school because school has a clear incentive not to teach you about it. I think many kids make poor financial decisions in their early life that negatively affects them in the near and far future. Studying Bitcoin fixes this.

After studying Bitcoin and getting a firm grasp on it, Jim is excited about his future. He understands the freedom it gives him to enjoy the rest of his life, allowing him to do whatever he pleases. He is more stoked on Bitcoin and life than you!

Bitcoin, Venezuela, And Day Game With Apex ₿

Bitcoin, Venezuela, And Day Game With Apex ₿

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by Apex ₿ (@malandrox7), a no-bullshit and passionate Bitcoin pleb.

I’ve been meming, shitposting, and talking Bitcoin with Apex on Twitter for well over a year now, and really happy he decided to come on the show. We’ve talked on Clubhouse before this podcast and he’s a cool dude who’s  What also caught my eyes was his interest and tweets about day game, which I don’t know of anyone else on Bitcoin Twitter who tweets about it.

We started off this interview with Apex sharing his rabbit hole story and how he found Bitcoin. Apex found Bitcoin in 2016 at around the very start of that big run-up in price to ~$20,000. A lot has changed since that last bull run with infrastructure being built, new types of buyers in the market, and more. We riffed on why we think this bull market is different and what could happen in the next coming year.

Apex explains how he saw the hyperinflation happening in front of his eyes while he lived in Venezuela, and realized the importance of Bitcoin quickly. He talks about seeing the prices of cigarettes rise and noticed something was wrong. Today in the United States, we are starting to see prices of goods and services rise because of all the money printing we’ve done this past year. All fiat currencies eventually face the same fate of hyperinflation and wealth evaporation, and seeing these warning signs all around us should be the green light to buy some bitcoin.

Later on, Apex explains how Bitcoin helps you stop over-consuming, and he uses himself as a good example. He shares he loves sunglasses and in the past has needlessly dropped some money buying more pairs, but Bitcoin has changed his time preference and incentives, and now he uses that money to buy more bitcoin! I add on how the FUD of “since Bitcoin is deflationary, people will stop buying things and the economy will fail”. To which I disagree with that because people today are way overconsuming, to the point where they just go further and further into debt. Bitcoin fixes this by cutting out the needless spending. This cut back on spending allows for people to save their money and build wealth, while still spending their money on better goods and services they want.

We end off the podcast talking about all the new brilliant minds coming into the space, and how they raise the level of quality of Bitcoin education. Every year we have smarter and smarter people entering Bitcoin and giving their valuable insights, opinions, and research. Apex is bullish on future Bitcoiners! He also thinks that Bitcoin is the perfect tool to advance humanity forward, and I couldn’t agree more. Why does he think that? You’ll have to listen to the show to find out!

Falling Down The Rabbit Hole With LABRA HODL

Falling Down The Rabbit Hole With LABRA HODL

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by Labra (@labrahodl6), one of the star memers of Bitcoin Twitter.

Labra and I kick off this conversation by Labra sharing his rabbit hole story and how he came to Bitcoin. He tells us that Bitcoin first popped up on his radar all the way back in 2012. He didn’t dive too deep into it then and get involved, unfortunately, but not too long later he heard about it again when PayPal was blocking bitcoin payments. This caught his attention even more and then he dove headfirst into bitcoin in 2017 during the last bull run. And the rest is history!

Over the course of this interview, Labra shares that adopting a lower time preference has changed his life and allowed him to save more. We talked a bit about responsibility and work experience. Many kids and teenagers today (here in the US) do not work anymore. Working summer/winter jobs and doing work like mowing grass and raking leaves are opportunities wasted by so many today. They are not learning the responsibility having a job takes and then the responsibility of the money that comes with it.

Some of Labra’s favorite things about Bitcoin is the ability to self custody your wealth and the opportunity to store your monetary energy into a capped supply of 21 million. Your wealth does not get inflated away with bitcoin and that allows you to actually save your wealth. It’s impossible to save in fiat, so this is life-changing. And also, he’s extremely bullish on the Bitcoin Zoomers!

Leaving The Legacy Financial System For Bitcoin With BTC Bap

Leaving The Legacy Financial System For Bitcoin With BTC Bap

In this podcast, Bap shares his rabbit hole story and his journey coming to Bitcoin after hearing about it a couple of times. He in particular has an interesting background in traditional finance and after working there as a Bitcoiner for a while, he just couldn’t do it anymore. He needed to break free from the constraints of his old job and pursue his interest in Bitcoin, and he has done just that.

Bap explains that growing up he had always been a pretty frugal dude, saving whatever he could. He even shared an interesting story about receiving bars of silver as a graduation gift for college! Later on we discuss the unique saving strategies of Bitcoiners who put most of their income straight into BTC. I talk about how you can allocate 50-60% of your paycheck and Bitcoiners will say “what is that? An allocation for ants?”. It’s funny to think that anyone outside the Bitcoin space would think you’re crazy for saving that much but, Bitcoiners know there is only 21 million bitcoin and everyone in the world is competing against each other for them. We have to stack as much as we can.

Bap explains that a beautiful thing about Bitcoin is that there are rules without rulers. The network is run on consensus, leaving no room or anyone to control it. I touch on the importance of how strong the network is against bad actors who have tried to control the space in the past couple of years. Many of tried to control it, all have failed. There are many great leaders in the Bitcoin space but as Bitcoiners have shown, if they try anything malicious, then Bitcoiners would (and have before) wage war on them.

How Bitcoin Changed My Life With Yung Lerk

How Bitcoin Changed My Life With Yung Lerk

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by fellow pleb Yung Lerk (@YungLerk_) for his first-ever podcast appearance.

This was one of my favorite episodes I’ve recorded in this series and I’m sure you’ll love it just as much as I did. We kick off this interview by discussing Lerk’s rabbit hole story and how he found Bitcoin. He shares how he went through 4 touch process with Bitcoin after finding it for the first time in 2012, and seeing it pop back up over and over again as time went on. He remembers his friends buying things from silk road with bitcoin and talks a little about that.

Bitcoin changes you, you don’t change Bitcoin. And Lerk explains just how much he’s changed since coming into the Bitcoin space. Precoiner Lerk would spend lots of money of things he didn’t necessarily need, and explained how he earned a good amount of money but didn’t know what to do with it. Once he dove down the rabbit hole, he stopped the needly spending to accumulate as much bitcoin as possible, and he hasn’t looked back. He mentions the importance of bitcoin’s finite supply of 21 million, and why that urges him to stack harder.

This leads to a discussion about time preference and savings, and how Bitcoin completely changes your incentives in life. “If it doesn’t change your life, you’re doing it wrong” he says, and I completely agree. Many people who buy bitcoin don’t get into it and learn why it’s important. Bitcoin is powerful enough to change the lives of anyone, so if it doesn’t change yours, you may be going about it wrong.

Trading Our Time To Earn Bitcoin With Beeforbacon1

Trading Our Time To Earn Bitcoin With Beeforbacon1

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by fellow pleb Math Cannot Be Banned (@beeforbacon1) for his first-ever podcast appearance.

We start off this conversation with the guest sharing his rabbit hole story and how he found bitcoin. He explains that being a libertarian before finding bitcoin helped grasp the importance of having sovereign money and why bitcoin is important. He discusses his very brief shitcoin phase, which he is grateful that didn’t last long.

One thing he touched in this podcast that I want to emphasize is that time is finite, and what you trade your time for is crucial. Working a normal job everyday earning fiat currency is not necessarily a recipe for success, as you are forced to risk your earned fiat in risky investments to escape monetary inflation. Bitcoin fixes this as you can save your monetary energy into the future with no risk as bitcoin has a capped supply, and no one can inflate your savings away.

We also talk about meeting at Bit Block Boom last August in Dallas, Texas. He touches on the bitcoin community there and how they all tend to care about the same important topics, including living a low-time preference lifestyle and studying philosophy. Which really brings us all together and unites us as most people don’t seem to care about many of the things us Bitcoiners do, today.

Protecting Our Savings In Bitcoin With Indian Hodl

Protecting Our Savings In Bitcoin With Indian Hodl

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by fellow pleb Indian Hodl (@Indian_hodl) for his first-ever podcast appearance.

This touching discussion started off with his rabbit hole story, hearing about bitcoin from an event in the U.K. Hospitals in the U.K. were getting attacked and the attackers were demanding to get paid in bitcoin as ransom. He explained how he got a lot of hate from his friends on BTC, but that now, he’s the one laughing.

We talked about how money is a belief system, and why he hates holding fiat currency. He said he sleeps better at night knowing that his money is safe and sound in an incorruptible currency. I agreed and that related to a saying I’ve been meming for a while now: “bitcoin zen.” That’s when you understand the current monetary system versus Bitcoin’s and you just feel at ease knowing you own money that is not being debased.

Then we got into how people are not using bitcoin as an investment, but why they need it to survive. Americans who don’t get out of the country much don’t realize that people in developing countries need bitcoin to protect themselves from governments suppressing them and stealing their wealth. We ended the podcast by discussing what he would love to work on in Bitcoin when given the chance, and how he wants to help develop and further the Lightning Network in some way!

Redefining Time Preference With Kaz Bycko

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” Nik was joined by the host of the “Down The Rabbit Hole Podcast” and Swan Bitcoin employee, Kaz Bycko.

In this episode, we dove into Bycko’s past and talked about what brought him to Bitcoin. As he explained his rabbit hole story more and more, I consistently saw similarities to mine. We both got into Bitcoin during our senior years of college, then dove deeper into it in college and after college, we started to pursue careers in the space full time.

We then jumped into what has changed in Bycko’s life personally after finding Bitcoin, and why he values Bitcoin that much more. Because remember, you don’t change Bitcoin, Bitcoin changes you. After we talked a little bit about high and low time preference, he touched on one’s time preference being more than just their spending habits. How you choose to spend your time and what you spend your time doing is a big factor in one’s happiness and success.

Making Bitcoin Accessible For Everyone With Randy McMillian

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s “Meet The Taco Plebs,” Nik was joined by Randy McMillian, a fellow pleb that I met on “Bitcoin Kindergarten” who has been sharing some good knowledge and wisdom on that show lately.

In this episode, we discussed certain interesting topics in Bitcoin that McMillan is most fond of, including repricing time. One very interesting topic that we got into was ditching the old fiat way of telling time (calendar year) and pursuing a new method: telling time by blocks. This is an interesting concept that I think has already caught on among Bitcoiners on Twitter as I’ve seen ongoing discussions about it. It’s a pretty cosmic idea but definitely not impossible to pull off.

McMillan also shared a project he’s working on, for which he is researching Bitcoin accessibility for the visually impaired. He is currently researching Bitcoin usage for not only the visually impaired, but also the tactile impaired and dyslexic. Bitcoin is for everyone and that obviously includes the partially/fully blind, and McMillan wants to make Bitcoin easy to use for them.
