TMAT Series: Oral Ties with Dr Shehab Faragallah

This episode is a sample of a practitioner interview in my parent program Tell Me About Ties. Dr Shehab Faragallah joined me to share his experience with Orofacial Myology, oral ties and the MyoSpots products he has developed as a result.

Dr Shehab is a general dentist based on the Gold Coast in Australia. He has over 20 years of experience in the dental industry and he cares for his patients with a holistic approach to health. This holistic approach involves considering each person as an individual and treating more than just teeth.

The first round of Tell Me About Ties is launching in April 2024. The program is available to Australian parents by application. You can listen to Episode 16 of The Face Place Podcast (LINK) or head to the Tell Me About Ties website and Instagram page to find out more and apply today.

Gut Health and Breathing with Elyse Comerford

Gut Health and Breathing with Elyse Comerford

Elyse Comerford, founder of Well Belly Health Clinic, is an Integrative Nutritionist and Certified GAPS (Gut & Psychology/Physiology Syndrome) Practitioner, Keynote Speaker, Mentor, and most importantly, Mum to Dylan. Elyse’s primary focus for the past decade has been in private practice, helping thousands of families overcome a whole host of health issues through the implementation of nourishing and healing principles, reducing toxic stress, and the GAPS protocol.

In today’s episode, Elyse is joining me to talk about helping people see that something normal doesn’t mean it’s something you have to live with and navigating through people’s goals are, and implementing programs to move towards that.

Elyse has developed online programs, seminars and retreats that have changed the lives of thousands. Elyse’s stress-less approach to health has been game changing for many, taking health from overwhelming to sustainable for every day busy families. Elyse has worked closely with Quirky Cooking’s Jo Whitton for the past 7 years, creating programs, retreats, and collaborating on Jo’s latest cookbook, ‘Simple Healing Foods’. You can also hear Elyse speak on a number of podcasts including ‘A Quirky Journey’, ‘Low-Tox Life’ and ‘Primal Alternative Podcast’.

Elyse’s approach is based on taking the normal "guilt, blame, shame and deprivation” and completely turning it on its head, focussing instead on healing, nourishing, and listening to the body.

We dive into:

  • Health concerns that are common but not “normal”

  • Understanding the GAPS protocol

  • How the gut and the brain communicate

  • Fight or flight impacts on digestion

  • Mouth breathing

Holistic Orthodontics with Dr Catherine Murphy

Holistic Orthodontics with Dr Catherine Murphy

Catherine Murphy, DDS, MSD’s love of dentistry goes beyond appreciating the beauty of a bicuspid. She is grateful that dentistry provided the support needed to transform her son's health from failing to thriving. She shares her passion for holistic dentistry through her speaking engagements across the globe and today she joins me to talk about holistic orthodontics.

Over fifteen years ago, Catherine practised general dentistry before becoming an Orthodontist. She has served as adjunct clinical faculty at both IU School of Dentistry and Indiana University NW Dental Hygiene Program. The principles and strategies that Dr Murphy shares through speaking and consulting are drawn from her years in private practice. Her mission is to elevate patient care by introducing a holistic approach to orthodontic treatment to dental professionals across the USA and internationally.

Dr Murphy is the author of two picture books focusing on the connection between oral health and overall health: "Dear Momma..."and "Dear Friend...Do you know about Tongue Ties?". She reaches caregivers nationwide through her podcast, "Dear Momma with Dr Murphy". The show provides insights into the holistic and collaborative care approach to orthodontic treatment. Additionally, Dr Murphy is a co-creator of the self-care movement, Take3ForMe™, designed to encourage harmony between career, family and self. This practice combines her love of myofunctional therapy exercises, breathwork and affirmation.

We dive into:

  • Family Dentistry
  • Working collaboratively with Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
  • Tooth extractions
  • Airway problems
  • Mouth breathing
