Evidence vs Emotion with Aaron Velky and Ian Lobas - EP 191
We all have choices in every moment of challenge or opportunity that we face. In this episode, host Ian Lobas & Aaron Velky discuss how our brain gets wired and how we can rewire it. You’ll learn how your brain registers the experiences that didn’t feel good to you and the feeling you don’t want to have again. The interesting thing is that this also happens in business. They point out that our past conditioning and programming can control the choices we make in the present, if we let them, and it can also shape our future. Thankfully, Aaron and Ian help us understand the difference between evidence we generate and use to power an emotion versus evidence that is real. An awareness of this difference will drive your success in every area of your life. This discussion could be the key to figuring out what’s holding you back and preventing you from having all-round abundance. Listen all the way through because at the end, you’ll get a practical exercise that anyone can do to bridge the gap between what you’d like to achieve and your belief that it is possible. After leading transformational FrontRunner events, these business partners are well positioned to share the concepts that have helped attendees walk away from the events, knowing that their life has shifted in a purposeful way and clearly understanding their next move. When you’re done listening, be sure to check out our other amazing shows with Aaron Velky, including Construct Your Triangle of Growth and Goal Setting The Purposeful Way. Some of the topics they discussed include: 21:50 - How our brains are wired and how to rewire 24:18 - Why our inner circle is crucial 31:52 - The value of being curious about what other people are experiencing 32:52 - The effect your attitude has on your team 34:13 - The impact of what is taking your mindshare or occupying your mind 36:09 - How we accumulate evidence that doesn’t serve us. How to Create a Purposeful Mindset & Use the Power of Choice to Elevate Yourself with Daniel Diaz - Episode 190
If you can’t figure out how to step up to the next level, this is the episode for you! Daniel Diaz and Ian Lobas discuss how to go from who are now and where you are now to where you want to be. This conversation provides a roadmap to help you live with purpose and on purpose and have the life you want with no regrets.  Dad, husband and founder of Peak Life Now, Daniel Diaz is a performance life coach, speaker, motivator and life-liver. His mission is to help people live a limitless life, so that life is working for them, not happening to them.  He shares his story of coming from a loving home with amazing parents who instilled in him the belief that he could do anything yet he was still super-insecure. He masked that insecurity by putting on a very secure front but it still pulled him into a darker direction in life...until he got arrested.   His journey into legit entrepreneurship started with the mindset that if he hustled hard enough, he would eventually be happy. However, like many others, he realized that this lifestyle wasn’t sustainable.  Daniel and Ian paint a crystal clear picture of the emotional and mental turmoil that results from being out of alignment in contrast with the creativity and possibilities you can unlock when you create the mindset of the person you need to become and you tap into the power of choice.  When you’re done listening, be sure to check out our other amazing shows that delve into creating the right mindset including Construct Your Triangle of Growth and Limitless Possibilities. 38:05 - Courage will drastically impact the level of confidence you have   10:15 - The warning signs that you lack sustainability   39:05 - Appreciation vs expectation    41:28 - Stepping up to interrupt the pattern of energy sucks   44:30 - How to create a space where you can consider “What else can I do?”   46:19 - The value of using the word “yet” regularly when you communicate with yourself   46:58 - Why we need to eliminate the words “but” and “understand”    1:12:54 - Being abundantly curious about what’s possible   References and Links Mentioned:   Daniel Diaz on Instagram   Daniel Diaz on Facebook    Want to reach out to us? Act on Your Instincts for a Life of No Regrets with Peter Lorimer - Episode 189
What is life if we don’t reach? That’s Peter Lorimer’s guiding principle as he shares his profound wisdom with Ian Lobas. It’s a privilege to hear the advice of one of the most dialed-in, successful men you’ll ever encounter. You’ll be hanging on his every word. Peter has had an illustrious career as a top real estate broker in Los Angeles for more than 15 years now, and he’s just merged his company with real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran! Actually, his can-do attitude led him to achieve amazing results from as early as age 13. Refusing to be limited by the realities of his cold, industrial hometown in North England, Peter embarked on a musical journey as the youngest student at the Royal College of Music. He went on to tour with orchestras and left home at the tender age of 15 with a trombone under one arm and a backpack under the other, determined to be a success in London. Following his instincts paid off incredibly well because he became a record producer who has worked with superstars like David Bowie, George Michael, Seal, and Christina Aguilera. By the time he turned his talents to the world of real estate, Peter had amassed around 50 #1 hits on the Billboard and Music week club charts. What’s the secret to Peter’s success? He always checks in with himself to assess how he can grow and build who he is in order to build his business, his marriage, and everything that’s central to his life. That way, he’s always being the best possible authentic version of himself. This surefire approach ensures he’s the best he can be for everyone in his life and gets the best results from his business. In this episode, he shows how you can evolve and become the person you need to be to hit your goals with ease. When you’re done listening, be sure to check out our other amazing shows on the subject of setting out on a path of growth, including Finding Your Lifelong Passion and Limitless Possibilities. Parenting & Living on Purpose with a Mindset of Curiosity, Growth & Abundance with Glenn Lobas and Ian Lobas - EP 188
Have you ever asked yourself, “What is it going to take for me to get to where they are?” In this episode, Ian Lobas’ dad Glenn reveals what happened when his ego took a blow and how in the process he learned his best lesson ever about life and leadership. He describes how he humbly applied a mindset of curiosity, as he had in the past, and how it led him to a promotion in six months. Combining that mindset with one of growth and abundance was powerful! His journey and determination to put in whatever energy, effort and time it would take to move him forward are nothing short of inspirational.  Constantly challenging himself with questions like “What can I do to further myself?” and “How can I make this work for me?”, he went from a messenger at a customs house business to the eventual founder of three international shipping companies. Glenn’s early lessons in setting his ego aside also paid dividends later as a parent. If you want a great relationship with your kids for life, you’ve got to listen to this episode. The stories this father and son share will crack you up but they also demonstrate what happens when you parent on purpose and keep a clear and open line of communication with your children.  Want to know what happened when Ian took the Corvette out, just blowing off his father’s warning and then quickly returned home with a sheepish look? Listen to find out. And what would you do if your son came home and gingerly told you there’s a policeman in the kitchen? How about when the story unfolds to reveal that police dogs and a helicopter had surrounded your son and his friends? How would you react as a father? Find out the full story and Glenn’s stunning reaction in this heartwarming episode.  00:00 Start 4:59 - Evolution  6:50 - Curiosity  19:54  - Lessons and leadership  20:30 - Understanding 23:27  You must change you  24:41 - Abundance mindset 26:28  - Curiosity Mindset - How can I  33:11 - Whats the goal & drop the ego 35:49 approx - Raising kids, how to get them to follow - Advice from Dad to son 39:50  - Lessons, how to teach kids purposefully  41:26  - Be smart about being stupid 42:39  - Think about how you reacted when your parents did that to you and change/shift how you approach the lesson to a mentee or kid.  45:26  - Parenting formula 1. Growing Through the Highs & Lows of Life with Aaron Amuchastegui and Ian Lobas EP 185
Aaron Amuchastegui has had some of the lowest lows and highest highs one can imagine. In this episode, Ian Lobas talks with this inspiring family man about his incredible journey and the powerful lessons he’s learned along the way. It’s hard to believe that Aaron grew up in a small town in Oregon and struggled to fit in when he transitioned from high school to college. It is easier to believe that he was the high school valedictorian and was voted most likely to succeed. Today he’s a Christian, construction and real estate entrepreneur and Ironman but there were a few times when Aaron’s world came crashing down. Aaron openly tells the story of how hanging out with the wrong people and doing crazy things landed him in a Southern California prison for two years. He reveals how that experience woke him up and made him hell bent to make up for lost time when he returned to society. His determination paid off. Aaron recalls the awesome feeling of making six-figures at only 25 years of age but he also takes us on the rollercoaster ride that was his life after that. Between a market crash, then recovering only to get put out of business, most of us would have given up, but not Aaron and his wife Kaleena. Their struggles helped them to appreciate the real priorities in life and they eventually decided to pull their kids out of school and created what they call The 5-Hour School Week, an innovative approach to education that has revolutionized their family’s life. Take a listen to learn how, like Aaron and Kaleena, you can learn from difficult experiences, rebuild even stronger than before and change the trajectory of your life. When you’re done listening, be sure to check out an earlier episode in which Ian chats with Jon Vroman, who is mentioned in this episode. Some topics they discussed include: The fear of not fitting in Moving past bad decisions How easy it is to be wasteful with money The more successful a couple gets, the further apart they may grow The power of saying yes to curiosity Healthier ways to learn References and Links Mentioned: 5 Hour School Week - a book by Aaron & Kaleena Amuchastegui https://www.instagram.com/5hourschoolweek/?hl=en https://www.aaronamuchastegui.com/podcasts/ Want to reach out to us?
