Mental Health and Me

By Jaclyn Brown

Anxiety and depression have been plaguing me for years. I've had my ups, downs, and down so low I hit rock bottoms. This is my journey with mental health.

My hope is by putting it all out there, I might be able to help others see that they’re not alone. You'll hear positive anecdotes, inspirational messages, along with practical self-care and wellness tips to help you through your journey as well.

I hope you’ll find this podcast inspiring and encouraging. I cope, and maybe I can help lighten your load too.

Ep 7: How a Major Health Scare Made Me Fear the Worst

Ep 7: How a Major Health Scare Made Me Fear the Worst

In this week's show, I want to talk about my recent health scare, which I touched upon in my last episode where I talked about my weight loss journey.

After the 8-week period was over, I took a little break to celebrate. While I wasn't exercising, I did continue with my smoothies, etc. However, following a dinner I had the evening after finishing the challenge, I took a turn for the worse.

It felt as though I was having a heart attack. I'd had a similar problem last year, but this felt a little different. No matter what I did, I just couldn't shake the severe pain that I was in.

In this week's show, I share what happened, the various things I went through, and why it's important to be aware of this, as your physical health is important to your mental health.

Ep 2: Talking With My Husband About His Recent Diagnosis

Recently, my husband was diagnosed with depression. He'd been suffering for a while, without actually realizing he had all the symptoms that come with depression.

It wasn't until he literally couldn't take another step forward that he decided he needed to seek help, and his own journey with depression (and anxiety) began.

In episode 2 of Mental Health and Me, I chat with him about that realization, and how his life has changed since being diagnosed, and what advice he'd give to those in his shoes pre-diagnosis.
