Napoleon Dynamite is 20 years old, and we're celebrating by looking back on a film that has aged remarkably well. If you're not into hearing a couple of guys do bad impressions of every character in a movie, this episode isn't for you.

Episode 176 - Pinocchio (2022 Disney Remake)
You heard it here, the critics were wrong! At least a little bit. Disney's Pinocchio remake is not "good," but you'd think it was a crime against God and man with the lambasting it received from film critics. Turns out it's absolutely fine.
Episode 175 - Pinocchio: A True Story (2021)
We continue our descent into hell by thoroughly examining "Fruity Pinocchio," Pauly Shore's fever dream interpretation of the little wooden boy that captured our hearts in 2022.

This week we're talking about Pinocchio 3000, a 2003 animated film starring Malcolm McDowell, Whoopi Goldberg, Howie Mandell, and a load of other people. This futuristic take on Pinocchio isn't "good" but is a welcome departure from the boring, formulaic Pinocchio films we've discussed.

Episode 173 - Roberto Benigni's Pinocchio (2002)

Episode 171 - Mega Pinocchio (1994, Mega Man Animated Series)
We're taking a little break this week from the "regular" Pinocchio films to watch an episode of the 1994 animated Mega Man series, which neither of us had seen before. In this episode, Mega Man gets tricked into thinking that he's been turned into a real boy, just like the wooden puppet that nobody cares about.
Episode 170 - The Adventures of Pinocchio (1996)
This movie is a pure turd, honestly. Scott sent me a message saying that no god would allow this film to be made.

In this episode, we return once again to the world of film adaptations of video games, this time with 2023's Five Nights at Freddy's. Neither of us is overly familiar with the FNAF games, so this was a new experience for us. Wish it was a bit better, though.

Episode 166 - Reviewing the Twisted Metal TV Series (Episodes 6-10)
We are back this week to finish our review of the first season of Twisted Metal. Fair warning, Scott had a bit more recap juice than normal, and this episode may go off the rails once or twice. Or more often than that, honestly.

1:33:00 - Ranking all the Video Game TV Shows we've watched
Episode 165 - Reviewing the Twisted Metal TV Series (Episodes 1-5)
This week, we're reviewing the first half of the Twisted Metal TV series. It's a bit weird, but it's not awful, so that's a win. We'll be back next week with the second half!
Episode 164 - Predicting the Games of 2024
We begin our year the way that we always do: by making predictions about the things that will happen, and completing the Video Game Fantasy Draft.
Episode 163 - Our Top Games in 2023
Happy New Year everyone! This week, we're talking about our favourite games that we played during 2023, with a special focus on games made by independent developers and small studios.
Episode 162 - Gran Turismo (2023)
After a much-needed reprieve, we return to the world of game-to-film adaptations with Neil Blomkamp's Gran Turismo. Based on the true story of gamer-turned-racer Jann Mardenborough, it's a fine enough retelling of a dream come true, and a decent little racing movie with just enough action and beauty to carry it through the more dull moments and puddle-deep character work.

Episode 161 - The Game Awards: Soulless Marketing and Mind-Numbing Unoriginality
This week, we're examining The Game Awards. In particular, how the 3+ hour marketing blitz does little except eclipse what should be a celebration of gaming's artistic achievements. From bland reveals filled with shareholder-pleasing buzzwords and manufactured hype to games seemingly devoid of any artistic merit or personality, it's a night to forget, and we discuss striking a balance between commercialism and honoring the artistic essence of the gaming industry.
Episode 160 - Castlevania Nocturne (2023)
This week, we return to the world of Castlevania with the most recent entry in the TV series, Castlevania: Nocturne. Although it isn't perfect, it does feel like a proper return to form, and the characters are compelling and fun, even if there are a few too many. It's been renewed for a second season, and we can't wait to see what's in store.
Episode 159 - Wendell & Wild (2022)
This week, we're concluding our review of the Jordan Peele/Henry Selick shared universe with the culmination their combined efforts, Wendell & Wild. Unfortunately, although it's pretty to look at and has lots to like, it falls a bit flat and is doomed to be fairly forgettable. Also, Dallin recorded his audio on the wrong microphone for this one because he's a doink. Enjoy!
Bad Boys: Miami Takedown (2004) - PS2 Fast PS2 Furious
In this episode, we play and discuss Bad Boys: Miami Takedown (Bad Boys 2), one of the most forgettable games we've ever played. I've already forgotten about it by the time I wrote this description.
Episode 158 - Coraline (2009)
In this episode, join us as we dive into the mesmerizing world of Henry Selick's stop-motion masterpiece, Coraline. We even get a bit of Shakespeare analysis from Dr. Scott Russell.

Episode 155 - Castlevania Season Four
Happy Halloween! Although we still have lots of spooky content upcoming through the month of November, we celebrate today by talking about one of the most shocking declines in quality of any series ever, with Castlevania Season 4. Although the bones of greatness are still there, ultimately this final season falls very flat.
Episode 154 - Castlevania Season Three
This week, we're discussing the third season of Netflix's Castlevania series, one of the finest things ever created.

This week, we recap, rank, and review Jordan Peele's Us. While it can be entertaining and frightening enough at times, it falls very short of the expectations set by Get Out, and we spend so much time trying to fill in holes and tie threads together that the film just simply fails to address.

Episode 143 - Tetris (2023)
This is it! We have (for the time being) reached the FINAL episode of the Video Game Cinematic Universe In Review, and we are thrilled to out with a genuine, proper film that's actually good. While not an adaptation of the game, Tetris tells the story of Henk Rogers' battle to obtain the publishing rights to what would eventually become one of the most important video games of all time. The film has its flaws but is really enjoyable overall.
Thank you so much for listening! Next week we'll have another Japan-centric travel episode before moving onto our next review series: The Jordan Peele-Henry Selick Cinematic Universe.
