ESTHER 8: 1-8;17
Introduction
Ø Mordecai honoured, and returns to his position at the king’s gate
Ø Haman goes back in grief and speaks to the wife and his advisers
Ø His advisers said to him “Since Mordecai, before whom your downfall has started, is of Jewish origin, you cannot stand against him- you will surely come to ruin
Ø While they were still talking to him, the king’s eunuchs arrived and hurried Haman away to the second banquet
Ø God works suddenly but in his own time: there comes a time when God does not give your enemy time to plot again
Ø During the banquet Esther finally makes her petition and request to the king
Ø Haman ends up hanging on the gallows he erected for Mordecai
The same day things changed
Ø The king gave Queen Esther the estate of Haman
Ø Mordecai is promoted from being an official at the king’s gate to now come into the presence of the king
Ø The signet ring of the king which was reclaimed from Haman is now given to Mordecai
Ø Esther appoints Mordecai over Haman’s estate
Ø Haman is dead, but his letter, sealed with the signet ring still remains in force
Ø There is an invisible hand of God caught in the circumstances which are out of your control
Ø God allows certain things to happen in our lives, they follow the sequence of God which usually will not make sense
Esther again pleads with the king
Ø Let an order be written overruling the dispatches that Haman devised and wrote to destroy the Jews in all the king’s provinces
Ø The king wrote a second decree for Esther and the Jews
Ø Whatever looks final, God can overrule, and God will reverse it in your favour
Ø Never forget that you are favoured by God himself
We learn five things
Ø 1.Their pain was about to be turned into joy
Ø 2.Their enemies were yet to see what their God was doing for them
Ø 3.You are where you are at this time and season for the purpose of God’s kingdom
Ø 4.Throughout your life, God is faithful and will always remain faithful
Ø Faithful even in your pain, rejection, confusion, loss….
Ø 5.Your position is for spiritual reason not for personal benefit
God will certainly show up
Ø Esther 8:17 READ
Ø God turned their weeping into joy
Ø God honours those who honour him, and blesses those who obey him
Ø The world will be in opposition to Christ, the believer and Biblical faith
Ø Remember God cannot be removed from your scene, but he can remove irrelevant things from your scene
Ø Jesus has come, the end is near, the one who is seeking our destruction will himself be destroyed
Ø Do not despair, remain faithful all will be set right
Ø Your faithfulness to God and your commitment to Holy Christian living will be rewarded
Ø Just as it happened to Esther and Mordecai, it will happen to you
Ø No one has a final say against you
Ø Threats against you will be there, but never live a threated life because Jesus has done for you all that you need
Ø Psalm 30: 3-5

God's Protection - Part 2
GOD’S PROTECTION. 2
PSALM 91:3-6
Introduction
When all things are going well, we tend to rest and be at peace
When your dreams seem to be coming to pass, it’s easy to remain hopeful and excited
When it looks like everything is going according to plan, no sign of the enemy or threats in sight, we tend to feel comfortable
But there are times when all of a sudden everything changes around you, and it seems like it portrays a picture completely opposite of our dreams, expectation and it looks like nothing will work, and our lives are threatened
When that time comes, we all need protection, we need someone who can bring stability, someone who can be reliable
Last week we spoke of God as a refuge and a fortress
Surely: Without fail because He cannot fail to do what He promised
5 Things God will do as He protects you: for those who dwell in the secret place
He will save you from the Fowler’s snare
He will save you from the deadly pestilence
Deadly/ noisome: havvah : which means a rushing calamity
One that sweeps everything before it
No hidden danger or deadly diseases will be able to harm you
He will cover you with His feathers
Not only does He protect us: In His protection we also experience His care
Under His wings you will find refuge
You will experience His love, protection, strength and gracious presence
In the shadow of His wings we are protected from everything that would work contrary to His purpose in our lives
Because He is our help, we can sing in the shadow of His wings
Paul and Silas, keep your midnight song
Daniel/ Shadrack , Meshach and Abednigo: keep your faith
His faithfulness will be your shield and your rampart
His faithfulness protects you as a person, and protects those around you, you are defended
Because God is faithful, I will trust Him to always fulfill His promises
The faithful love of God never ends, our unfaithfulness does not change His faithfulness
Because His mercies never come to an end
His mercies begin afresh every morning
God’s faithfulness is immeasurable: Psalm 36:5
“Your love O Lord reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies
Closing
Even through calamity He remains faithful
Our faith in God as our protector will carry us through all that we face
When there is a snare, keep your eyes on the Lord
Psalm25:15 “ My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only He will release my feet from the snare
Listen this morning, let your eyes be continuously on the Lord till He shows His mercy
He is God and remains in control whether it is day, or it is night
We therefore have continuous protection
Trust Him with your situation

FASTING AND PRAYING FOR GOD’S GUIDANCE AND PROTECTION - Snr Ps Ndlala
FASTING AND PRAYING FOR GOD’S GUIDANCE AND PROTECTION
EZRA 8: 21-23
Background
Ø 80 years after the first group of exiles
Ø Camped for three days at the Canal that flows towards Ahava
Ø When all who were going were there he proclaimed a fast
Why fasting and praying
Ø So that we may humble ourselves before God
Ø Fasting is a sacrificial form of prayer
Ø We deny our flesh as we seek God
Standing on your high place
Ø It’s a Spiritual position , it’s a standing on the Rock
Ø Although it was time to move, it is important to prepare for the journey
Ø Our hearts need to take the right Spiritual posture
Ø Yes we see a wider horizon, but we need Spiritual guidance for a physical world
Ø For that, fasting and praying is important
Ezra focuses on three things
1. Guidance focus:
Ø Humble ourselves before our God
Ø Humbling ourselves acknowledges our dependence on God
Ø We depend on God to lead us the right way
Ø Fasting helps us to be connected to God’s voice
Ø Guidance is important to help us choose between better and best
Ø It’s a matter of the heart, soft, open, receptive
Ø God is our only source of dependable direction
2. Assistance focus:
Ø Ask God for a safe journey for us and our children
Ø There were wild beasts and armed robbers on their way
Ø Ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen
Ø They asked God for a safe journey
Ø Ezra knew the Law of God like we know the promises of God
Ø He knew Deuteronomy 31:6 READ
Ø And we know Prov. 2:11 READ
Ø We depend on God
3. Substance focus:
Ø With all our possessions
Ø Fasting and praying releases God’s power in our situation
Ø Move your eyes from the difficulties you see, fix your eyes on the Lord
Lord, lead us, Lord guide us
Ø Show us the right way
Ø “ THE GRACIOUS HAND OF OUR GOD IS ON EVERYONE WHO LOOKS TO HIM”
Ø Let’s look to Him in fasting and praying
GOING ON THE HEIGHTS - Snr Ps Ndlala
GOING ON THE HEIGHTS
HABAKKUK 3:17-19
Background
Ø Though the fig tree does not bud
Ø And there are no grapes on the vine
Ø Take your eyes off your difficulties and look to God
Ø The righteous will leave by faith
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord
Ø We do not worship God out of convenience, but in spite of
Ø We rejoice in prosperity and also rejoice in adversity
Ø Every adversity has a duration, purpose and it is my elevator
Ø I will be joyful in God my Savior
Ø I remain expectant of the salvation of the Lord in all situations
The Sovereign Lord is my strength
Ø He is in total control
Ø You need to believe God
Ø My strength comes from God
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer
Ø He grants me sure footed
Ø He grants me capacity to climb mountains
Ø He grants me feet that will grip when I go through tough terrains
He enables me to go on the heights: my high places
Ø My new feet gives me capacity to leap and run
Ø You will run from the lowest valley to the highest mountain
Ø Your run will be smooth and quick
Ø It’s not a flat run, it’s a run from you current low to your prepared high places
Ø Run, you will make it through the rough places
Ø There is a high place with your name on it
Ø You’ve concluded your period of waiting
Ø The period of labor is over, this is a period of reward
Ø No longer stagnancy or retrogression
