Conversations w/ Dr. Carmen Imes "Bearing God's Name: Why Sinai Still Matters"
In this episode we had Dr. Carmen Imes who is an incredible Author and Old Testament Scholar on the line with us. The topic was bearing God's Name and why the Covenant God made with Israel at Mt. Sinai has huge implications and meaning for Christians today. Have you ever heard the commandment do not take the Lord's name in vain? I'm willing to bet after listening to this episode you're going to have a whole new appreciation for what the 2nd commandment in the Ten Commandments really is saying. God wasn't just making sure Israel didn't use a swear word with His name in it. Israel was a dislocated, unorganized and traumatized group of people who had just been freed from oppression and slavery. God's Name was being bestowed upon them as a blessing and it brought purpose, security and identity to this unorganized group of people getting ready to become a nation. Carrying God's Name meant so much more in that moment than we often realize. Tune in to this episode to learn more about this as Dr. Imes unpacks sections of her book. You're going to need a notepad so grab one and come hang out with us for a few!

"The Presence of God" (live message)
Immanuel - Episode 1 "Jesus and the Samaritan woman"
The Samaritans and Israelites had a longstanding history of opposition and conflict that led them to live with prejudices towards one another. It was not socially acceptable for the Jewish people to associate themselves with the Samaritans. So when Jesus meets with an adulterous Samaritan woman who was ceremonially impure, he was breaking through every national, social and religious boundary and tradition you could imagine. Yet Jesus did not come to the world to please Israel, He came to the world to fulfill Israels purpose. In Genesis 12 the covenant promise with Abraham revealed that Israel would be a blessing to the people of the world. Jesus words to the Samaritan woman at the well cut to the core of not only her personal life, but also Gods purpose for her future. Ultimately He reveals to her and to all those who would learn of this moment, that the heartbeat of the God of Israel is to be with His people, to dwell amongst His creation. This means that even in your own brokenness and messy past, Jesus wants to meet with you just like the Samaritan woman, and He extends his arms out in love offering living water that will never leave you thirsty again. Are you willing to let God's light shine on your whole story and lead you into His purpose and plan for your life? Tune in to episode 1 of Immanuel to learn more!
Essentials Episode 4 - "Character"
Essentials - Episode 3 "Wisdom"
Proverbs 8 gives us a sneak peak into the act of creation, and how Wisdom played a crucial part in every stage that was laid out in Genesis 1-2. Wisdom is also a major theme that runs throughout the plot-line of the Bible. Paul encourages and prays for the church to grow in wisdom. So why is wisdom so important? How does this apply to you in your own personal life? Episode 3 of “Essentials” dives into this subject and will help you see the bigger picture Wisdom plays in God’s Creative Purposes in and through your own life. Tune in to hear more!
Essentials - Episode 2 "Community"
Often times when we think of our relationship with God, we become very focused on our own circumstances and future. But thats not necessarily the way God looks at your relationship with Him. Although He is a loving Father and an ever present in your greatest time of need, He has placed deeper spiritual purpose and empowerment that is community focused, rather than just personally focused. In Episode 2 of Essentials, we unpack what the Bible says about community, and how Gospel Driven community is actually the fruit of the Holy Spirit outpouring in Acts 2 and the Great Commission that has carried the Gospel to the ends of the Earth ever since. What does God think about community? Tune in to find out all this and more!
Essentials - Episode 1 "Holy Spirit"
Christians can often get so busy in their lives that they forget Jesus sent an Advocate to lead and guide them through their life. This Advocate is the Holy Spirit, and without understanding His purpose and perspective as He leads us through life, we can often times misunderstand whats going on in our personal lives, and grow frustrated when we should be thriving. This episode gives you three essential facts you need to know about the Holy Spirit in order to maximize your spiritual growth, and live with better clarity and confidence that God is with you every step of the way. Tune in to learn more!
"Who is Paul?" Episode 4
Paul's letters have become some of the most influential writings in the history of literature. Not only have they shaped the minds of Christians for thousands of years, but they have helped communities of believers learn to live and grow in unity. Paul's purpose behind everything he did was rooted in what he believed about the Gospel and what Jesus accomplished at the Cross. As we wrap up episode 4 of "Who is Paul?" we will unpack how the mission of teaching multi ethnic/culture communities to live as on family by teaching them how to think think through their own beliefs turned into what would become known as Christian Theology. Tune in to learn more!
"Who is Paul?" Episode 3
In episode 3 of "Who is Paul?" we go deeper into the mind of Paul as he navigates his first missionary journey, a confrontation in Jerusalem regarding his fellow laborer Titus being pressured to get circumcised, and the whirlwind of political and social conflict that the Gospel Message is bringing in the communities of the Roman Empire. This episode answers What these pressures look like, and how they influence the way Paul thinks and moves as he sets out to teach the young Christian communities how to think and live as new creations. The Gospel Message stretched beyond religion and into every area of life in the first century. As Christians we can learn from Paul with how he handled this conflict and how Paul discovered that unity and love should be the hallmark of Christian theology. Tune in to hear more!
"Who is Paul?" episode 2
Many people look at Paul as a radical Jew who was dramatically converted to a different religion that we now call Christianity, but that's not at all the Paul we learn about in the New Testament. Paul's vision of Jesus being the fulfillment of Israels long awaited ancient promises radically enhanced his perspective of the God of Israel, and in turn would radically change the world forever. For the first time ever, a family of people would stretch across land, ethnicity, culture, religious background and gender. There was now no barriers in the family of God, and this reshaped the way Paul believed God was going to establish His Kingdom on Earth. In this 2nd episode of the "Who is Paul?" series, we go deep into the minds of one of the most influential thinkers and writers in history, and with a front row seat will witness how his revelation on the road to Damascus gave him a fresh new understanding of this new phase of God's rescue plan unfolding right before their eyes. Tune in to learn more!
”Who is Paul?” - Episode 1
Rest - Bonus Episode
In light of the summer, and all of the vacations and families spending time with each other, Michael wants to focus on the importance of rest and how that impacts our spiritual growth. God's presence is a place where we were designed to breath, live and move from and not strive to find. We are created to thrive with the power and Spirit of God flowing through us, not constantly be searching and yearning to sense, often times feeling like He is nowhere to be found. Rest is an important factor to our ability to sense the presence of God as well as our ability to live and move by the leadership of God's Spirit. Yet, rest might not be exactly what you think it means in terms of resting spiritually. In this episode Michael highlights three key factors in his own personal life, that has helped him to maintain a sense of God's presence, and live a busy and active life while feeling refreshed and energized along the way. We hope this bonus episode is helpful for you in your own personal journey! Tune in!
Jesus - Episode 4 "King of the Universe"

Jesus - Episode 2 "Why Did He Come?"
Most people know that Jesus died on the cross to forgive us of our sins, and when we accept Jesus into our lives we can go to heaven. But that's not all the Bible teaches! Although this is basically true, there is deeper purpose and meaning behind what Jesus accomplished at the Cross, and when you learn to understand exactly all that the Bible teaches about Jesus, your life will forever be changed. Jesus launched a new age, and ushered in His Kingdom, where death, disease and dysfunction cannot exist. In this episode we search the Bible to fully answer the question, why did Jesus come? Jesus - Episode 1 "Who is He?"
Jesus. Who do you think He is? Theres no doubt that many people have different perspectives, opinions and ideas about who this man named Jesus really was, but what do you think? If you're a Christian, you might be surprised to learn that what you believe about Jesus may not be the full picture. Michael takes us on a journey into the mind of a 1st century Israelite to help us better understand what Jesus said, what He taught, and ultimately what He set out to accomplish. In this message Michael shows us how God's Word specifically teaches that it is the Body of Christ who is meant to be the ones who bring the change that this world so desperately needs. Through Old Testament prophecies, covenants and their fulfillment through the resurrection of Jesus, we are not only able to, but we are called to bring God's love, holiness and justice into this world using the authority God has equipped His church with.
Easter Series Episode 3 - Exodus
