Quote of the Week
It is a lesson of Gemini, the twins, that polarity exists within us all the time. Therefore, as we enter this month, and always, let us not fall to the mistake of the mind that says, “I have done something negative, I am now negative,” or, “I have done something positive, so the totality of me is positive now and I don’t have to worry anymore.” Because if we truly understand this teaching, then we know that the greatness of the Light of our soul exists even at the time of great negativity, even at the time of great darkness, and vice versa. - Michael Berg

E:32 Miriam the Water Witch
Miriam the Water Witch
In this episode Michele discusses a new look at Miriam and her role in the Exodus of the Hebrews.
Quote of the Week
Miriam, the drumming prophetess who danced at the shore of the Sea of Reeds, is like other prophetesses in the ancient world who used the drum to represent the rhythm of time and the heartbeat of the Divine Mother.9 Miriam combines the air-ripples of the drum with the waters of birth. According to rabbinic legend, Miriam is a midwife. In Nisan, she midwives us into the flow of time, and on Passover she shows to us the Divine face of dancer, drummer, musician, and healer. - Rabbi Jill Hammer

Quote of the Week
Iyar is a time of healing, development, and growth. This is a special time marked by ritual, like so many other sacred periods in the Hebrew calendar. Iyar allows us to create space for contemplation and integration, and prepare ourselves for the wisdom we’ll receive during Shavuot. The counting of the Omer marks a gradual shift from a time of freedom from slavery towards a time of freedom through our relationship with Torah. - Rabbi Rachel Rosenbluth

E:30 Counting the Days
Counting the Days
In this episode Michele discusses what the omer is and why we count the Omer. She explains how this 49-day counting ritual helps us to delve into and develop our shadow and emerge from slavery at Passover and transform into someone with a true freedom mindset.
Quote of the Week
Like our ancestors in the Exodus story, we need a period of retraining our brains and embracing a new way of thinking. Enter the Counting of the Omer. Traditionally this was a time to count the forty nine days between the barley and wheat offerings in the mishkan (tabernacle) and later the Temple. The omer measure of barley was offered on the second day of Passover and the omer measure of wheat was offered fifty days later on Shavuot (thus the counting of 49 days or seven weeks). - Michele Lefler

E:28 Nisan- Leadership + Redemption
Quote of the Week
On the first day of Nisan in the year 2448 from creation (1313 BCE), two weeks before the Exodus, G‑d showed Moses the crescent new moon, instructing him regarding the setting of the Jewish calendar and the mitzvah of sanctifying the new month. This ushered in the first Jewish month and commenced the lunar calendar that Jews have been following ever since. It was the first mitzvah ( given to the newly born nation of Israel, even before the exodus from Egypt.- Chabad.org

E:27 Purim, Witches, and Jews, Oh My!
Quote of the Week- 00:01:09
Esther’s name comes from the goddess Ishtar or Asherah, and reminds us that, like older mythic figures such as Inanna, Esther descends into the underworld (in her case, the king’s harem) in order to save life. This descent into the underworld is like the sap’s hiddenness within the tree or nature’s hiddenness during winter—there must be a period of darkness in order for life to re-emerge. - Rabbi Jill Hammer

E:21 Defense Against the Dark Arts…of the Ayin Ha’ra
Quote of the Week- 0:0:39
“EVIL EYE: Yes its real, and the prophet S.A.W said its worse than black magic. As it could kill a person. Don’t share pictures of your success. Food, selfies, where you are or anything else. As many people can’t digest it and become jealous. Live a private life and do you. Nobody needs to know your business. Especially those who aren’t happy for you. Their jealousy or hatred could lead you to depression, or even losing all that you have. Be humble and keep it to yourself. Live your life for you, not for the attention that could end it.”
Unknown to me who said it.
All About the Evil Eye: 0:1:47

E:19 Ritualized Self Care for Jewish Women
In this episode, Michele discusses the mikveh as a practice of self-care for Jewish women. She discusses the modern objections to the mikveh as well as patriarchal views of women’s bodily functions. She talks about the spirituality of menstruation and the use of the mikveh to delineate periods of spirituality in a woman’s life. Parshah for the week: Vayechi
Key Takeaways:
- Judaism has self care built right into it in the form of the mikveh.
- The mikveh has nothing to do with physical cleanliness and everything to do with spiritual ascension.
- Bleeding does not make a woman unclean but puts her in a grounded state.
- The mikveh provides an opportunity for women to delineate between the bleeding time and the time they return to higher states of intuition.
