Welcome back to the Michigan Golf podcast! We’re finally kicking off Season 2 & getting 2021 underway. It’s been a few weeks & since the calendar has turned to a new year we begin to look ahead to the new golf season. It’s early yet, still plenty of offseason left for us Michiganders, but we’re going to talk how things are progressing with TaylorMade, the early stages of building my tournament calendar & a quick sneak peek of some upcoming guests on the show. Again, welcome back everyone, it’s good to be back & I’m looking forward to what the new season has in store for the Michigan Golf podcast!

As 2020 draws to a close we’re going to conclude the fist season of the Michigan Golf podcast right here, right now. Nothing crazy, just a casual overview of where we’ve been & where we’re heading next. It’s been a great season sharing the game & all of my Michigan golf experience with you guys & there will be a ton more to come in 2021. In the meantime, I’m going to take a couple weeks, enjoy the holidays, see what I can do to continue to evolve & grow this podcast experience & come back at ya in just a few short weeks. This week on the Michigan Golf podcast I decided to take a break from course reviews & equipment talk to discuss what’s on every golf fan’s mind right now, a November Masters! How’s the course going to play? How’s the tournament going to feel without patrons? Who’s got the hot hand & could walk away wearing a green jacket come Sunday? This week on the Michigan Golf podcast we’re going to talk about my new driver shaft! In numerous previous episodes I’ve discussed the importance of getting fit in order to optimize your equipment for your game & after several years of “self fitting”, I finally decided to practice what I preach. I got on a launch monitor, gathered the data, and want to dish to you guys the condensed version of what that experience was like and what shaft I ended up putting in play!

Last weekend I got in a late season round at Thornapple Pointe, just on the east side of Grand Rapids. Although it was a scramble format, I figured I’d drop a quick play by play & share the course with you guys! It’s a great track that I don’t play as often as I should. Last week I had the opportunity to get in a late season round at what’s probably my favorite country club in the area. Muskegon County Club holds a special place in my heart as every year I try and grind my way through the US Open local qualifier there. Moss Ridge is where the Michigan Golf podcast all began! I got out for a round with a couple buddies last week so I definitely wanted to jump on and profile the full 18 holes with you guys. Moss is a great golf course in the orchards here between Grand Rapids & Muskegon. If you haven’t taken the back roads and teed it up here yet, I definitely recommend you grab a tee time & check it out! You won’t be disappointed!

After teeing it up at Quail Ridge on Sunday, Paul & I are back recapping our two man scramble with the Mitten Golf Tour! Wish we could have played better, but always a good time getting out & getting competitive!

This episode Paul & I are teaming up for another two man scramble with The Mitten Golf Tour at Quail Ridge over in Ada, MI! Paul says he’s played here but “doesn’t remember much” 🙄 so we’ll see how this goes! We’re “precapping” the event, taking a guess at the winning score & where guys might be able to make some skin money!

After a few weeks of solid golf & building some momentum, I decided after all to sign up for the Grand Rapids City Championship at Watermark CC. We’ll talk that, touch on a new driver in the bag, PGA Championship week, and more cool stuff to come on the pod!

Willow Wood Golf Club is definitely a hidden gem located in Portland, MI. I was invited out by one of my listeners so if course I took him up on it! I had the privilege to meet and play an incredible round of golf with Chad & his son Kyle on a course that I’ll definitely be back to! A great course & great company is what the game of golf is all about & this was definitely a special experience that I’ll never forget.
