Middle Aged Sports Spectacular

In this episode Dave and Doug were busy keeping track of the Top Shot market, so Pat & Pepe do a deep dive on the MLB season. Pat gushes about Christian Pache for 45 minutes, Pepe tries to fill Dave's large Fun Fact shoes, and a possible soul crushing bet is made as we make our predictions for the season. 

In this episode, we take a new recording program for a test drive, make predictions on who the Patriot's QB will be, watch Dave open an NBA Top Shots pack, and break down the Pecota projections for the 2021 MLB final standings. And we finally decided to move on from putting Pat in the title of the episode... if you look closely, however, you can still see it ;)

Finally, we get the four of us in a (virtual) room again and we review one of the biggest letdowns for a Super Bowl in recent memory, the polarizing halftime show, why Pat is on the fence about who the greatest QB is of all time, and why Dave no longer wants to talk about it. There's at least 3 baseball tangents, a basketball tangent, and a discussion about what super villain Pepe would be. We really did it.

Pat takes the night off and the rest of us go out of our away to not talk about sports. Weird fun facts, Doug's recent discovery of social media, and Pepe's furnace all become main topics of conversation. And then there were unicorns. Enjoy?

No. Dave. No Doug. What could go wrong?

We discuss the first woman GM in baseball, the HOF, and Pat's obsession with blow-ups. Then Pepe breaks out a new segment and we pretend to support it. 

We do a quick (not really quick) run-through of the NFL - shit on the Bucs, Jared Goff, and the Patriots - and pick our favorite for the Super Bowl. Then Pepe commemorates a great human being that the world recently lost, makes an inappropriate comment that I edit out (his 5th since we started this show), and argues against someone suing a rich baseball owner for causing them to be disabled. Then Pat takes us home with MLB updates, gloats a little ( a lot) about the award picks he made last week, and we finish the show with an email from a fan (I swear we didn't pay them to do it). Four fun facts, Dave's favorite things about Covid, Pat's distaste for politics, and Pepe's love for DJ LeMahieu and lengthy baseball updates pretty much sums up this episode. Oh yeah, and butt stuff. There's also butt stuff.

Shit gets real when we talk about our biggest disappointments in sports and Pepe tells a heart breaking story that shaped the rest of his life. Then we break down Brady vs. Cam, criticize Belichick's drafting ineptitude, debate the validity of a Gorilla being accepted into the NFL, and fight dozing off as Pat breaks down every out of the World Series. Recorded during game 6, we were all unaware that it was going to come to an end that night, but one of us predicted the correct outcome and it wasn't Pat.

After another hiatus, Pepe is back and we're ready to mix things up. Starting out a new show format, we listen to Pat break down every single play and all of its intricacies for the NLCS, Dave whines about why Fantasy is unfair and hard, and Pepe explains his love for big business and trickle down economics. It's a real hoot.

Doug is back and we hit on Baseball playoffs and week 2 NFL. Pat uses the first half of the show to break down baseball and set us up for a full blown analysis on the Braves. Then, in between bouts with staying awake, he proceeds to disrupt my football monologue with more updates on the Braves and clearly shows that he only has one agenda on this show.  

After a 6 week hiatus, we're back and we have a lot to talk about. In this episode, Pat and Dave team up without Pepe (spending quality time with his chest hair) and Doug (sipping mojitos, neck deep in fantasy football studying), and do a little catching up on the baseball season, Week 1 NFL, and NBA playoffs. It's a doozy.

In what turned out be a marathon of a show, we put our best thoughts together on baseball and what we think we already know about who's good and who's not. Pat attempts to hijack the show on multiple occasions, but Dave and Pepe fight him off and chime in with their own insights about who's good while Doug sits back and continues to wonder why he can't find anything better to do with his Tuesday night. After heavy criticism for his repetitive facts about testicles, Dave grows up a little and changes gear and serves up a trifecta of mind-blowing facts about a different part of the body. After that, Pepe boasts about his newly found heritage and how much more his wife appreciates him because of it, Doug makes fun of Pat and his childhood, and Pat uses his MLB update segment to talk about the Braves.... again. This episode starts off in left field and never finds it's way out.... but somewhere in between talking about having sex with Voodoo donuts and saying a slow pitch softball player can make the same play as Jim Edmonds, we have sensible discussions about Cam Newton, bunting, and Pat's incredible complexion. In this roller coaster of an episode, Pat details what he read about the draft and almost uses his own words, Dave calls for a return of steroids, Pepe can't get enough of the phone sex voice, and Doug is noticeably missing this week. With baseball at the forefront of our thoughts, we put together our best post 1980 baseball team through a unique style draft. Pat gets the best of Pepe and the team gets built without the best player of all time (despite Dave's protests). Then Pat proceeds to high jack the show while Pepe waxes poetic about the Olive Garden and Dave does his best phone sex voice. Enjoy.

With nothing to discuss in regard to the world of sports and Pepe absent because his children decided to protest his blossoming career as a podcaster, we turn to Dave and his fun facts to help conjure up an episode. We take time out from doing nothing to talk about how our quarantine is going, let Dave share 10 more fun facts, and discuss Doug's discovery of... movies. Minus Pepe, we still manage to make conversation and interestingly enough, the shots taken at Pat are noticeably absent...

Doug's back (thank God) and in the first half we talk the NBA playing HORSE, eNascar, and if there will be an MLB season. Then we hit on eating ice cream for breakfast and how cheap Pat is. In the second half we come back and break down the Tiger King Documentary and Pat gets disconnected right before we debate whether or not he also has a two gun holster belt. Enjoy.

Dave botches his first attempt at hosting, Pat can't get enough of Sonny Gray and Rocco Baldelli, Doug makes logical picks for nearly every award, and Pepe draws boos from the crowd (mostly from Pat) with his pick for AL MVP.
