Lin and her son, Joe discuss all sorts of things so they started recording their conversations. He’s a physicist and a mathematician while she's a little bit more woo. 

Lin tells Joe stories of things she thinks are really strange, a little scary, or downright paranormal and he goes there with her as far as his science brain can take him. 

Sometimes he has an explanation for how physics can explain something, but other times he calls BS.  And sometimes, just sometimes, Lin convinces him that there are things that defy explanation.

Somehow mothers are the most resilient creatures. We have babies, risking our own lives, knowing that there’s a chance our babies will die. And we just keep doing it. If you have lost a baby, my heart goes out to you.

An estimated 26% of Americans ages 18 and older -- about 1 in 4 adults -- suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. Depression and anxiety are the most common mental health problems during pregnancy, with around 12% of women experiencing depression and 13% experiencing anxiety at some point; many women will experience both. Depression and anxiety also affect 15‑20% of women in the first year after childbirth.

This episode covers several examples of mental health issues I’ve dealt with during my career as a midwife.
