Episode #26 Northern Value Creators
Simon and Amanda Cookson own "Northern Value Creators" whose mission is "Growing businesses with transformative communication and applied neuroscience". It was an opportunity too good to miss to bring them on the Podcast to discuss this and so much more. We talked openly about: 🧠 Neurospicy family dynamics - the joy, the pain, the ups and downs, meltdowns (crease in the sock moments), the unpredictable nature of life on the spectrum and Simon's role as the Neurotypical Husband and Father trying to find calm in the storm. 🧠 How supporting ND Children has caused a lightbulb moment for Amanda in terms of her own Neurospicyness and how she's been on a journey with this. 🧠 Neurodiversity in the workplace and building equitable and inclusive cultures that help everyone to feel they belong and to thrive. 🧠 Adopting a Neuroscience approach to Leadership and not being afraid of having difficult conversations with your ND people. 🧠 The dynamics of relationships, being Neurodivergent and Neurotypical, in both professional and personal lives. We enjoyed this conversation, and quite honestly, we could have done a few hours, but we had to rein it in as there was so much to unpack.

Epiosode #17 Rob Moors
In a first for the Bee-Brilliant People Podcast (always seeking out new ways to innovate) we mashed it up with Rob Moors and the Leadership Untitled Podcast.
We had an absolute blast recording this show in a totally free-flowing and unscripted way. We got into talking about work, hybrid work, ways of working, coaching, leadership and lots more besides. We joked this could have been the two blokes in a pub podcast, but let's face it, the best type of conversations are authentic ones.
We hope you enjoy the mash-up as much as we enjoyed recording it.
Episode #16 Katy Baggott
In Episode #16 of the Bee-Brilliant People Podcast🎙🎧,
We were delighted to be joined by the absolutely 100% authentically authentic quirky coaching and people development sensation that is Katherine (Katy) Baggott.
Katy is proud to be one of the weird ones and and embraces this to the max, she's sung with flashmobs, rock choirs and volunteered as a speaker coach with Ted X. We have joking but not joking played with the idea of creating a new Podcast "Embracing the Weirdness", watch this space on that one.
Katy is multi-talented and is a DJ for local radio station where she goes by the DJ name of Katy B and her show 'the Sunday Underbelly' can be found on Lincoln's LCR Radio (link below to Katy's Mixcloud profile and all episodes) Tune in she's amazing!
Katy is an Executive Coach, and a bloody good and well respected one at that. She's worked for some massive international corporate organisations in the past such as Mars and Coke-a-Cola. She is person-centred and believes that 'quirky' experiences have helped shape her as a person and how she experiences the World. She is a generous, kind and wonderful Human Being and we were honoured to have her give up some time to talk on the Podcast.
"who you are is how you coach"
This week marked International Neurodiversity Celebration Week, which is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences.
"coaching with Neurodivergent clients keeps my coaching skills as stretchy as their timeline"
We covered a diverse range of topics ranging from:
- Coaching - beyond neuro normative approaches
- Working with marginalised voices
- The value of labels - the paradox between helpful v destructive
- Feedback - constructive approaches
- Strengths-based feedback "feedback is a gift"
- Psychological safety
- Creating squishy environments for great conversations
- Visual tools in coaching
- Authenticity and masking
"Every entrepreneur I know who has gone on to great success has capitalised on their strengths"
The timing of the Podcast was perfect as other golden thread running throughout the show was difference and different ways of thinking, which led us to talk about Neurodiversity. Katy is an ally in this space and relates to ND people given some of her own experiences.
I hope you enjoy the podcast as much as we enjoyed recording it. If you do enjoy please don't forget to rate the show in your player of choice so others can find us and share the podcast with your network - thanks for listening and tune in again soon for more bee-rilliant guests and content.
