Empowerment Moment: Don’t Lose Yourself

Empowerment Moment: Don’t Lose Yourself

Don’t Lose Yourself [Be a Rockstar]

· It’s easy to get so caught up in our day to day life that we lose ourselves, even adapt or change to accommodate others. While compromise is sometimes necessary building connections with others doesn’t mean that you have to give up who you authentically are. Know who you are and be proud of it.

· Respect your boundaries by not accommodating others at the expense of your needs, desires, happiness, mental health and values. Know and be confident in who you are and believe that you are worthy of a great life. Never approach life from a place of lack, make sure your cup in full on your own.

Empowerment Moment: Be Passionate About Life

Empowerment Moment: Be Passionate About Life

Be   Passionate About Life [Be a Rockstar]

· Passion gives us a purpose and makes us feel that we   have a purpose. It’s what you get excited about. It’s what motivates you. It   brings you confidence. It gives you purpose. It’s your “why”. When you are   passionate about life you vibe differently to the world and you’ll be a   magnet to good things.

· People who are passionate about life will live it in a   growth mindset. This means they won’t be defeated by every setback or   challenge, instead they will learn from it and use it to their advantage.   They will live life forward, influencing those around them as they go along.

POST IT NOTE: I will   be passionate about life

Empowerment Moment: Facing Your Fears and Staying Motivated

Empowerment Moment: Facing Your Fears and Staying Motivated

Facing Your Fears and Staying Motivated [Be a Rockstar]

· According to Chopra, Fear can be defined as False Evidence Appearing Real. These fears come about for any number of reasons and they can stand in the way of you accomplishing the things you want in your life. You can, however, USE fear to motivate you. You just need to be able to recognize the fear, name it, find out why you feel fear and if it’s rational or not, and transform it to something else. If it’s rationale and a gut feeling, take it seriously, if it’s irrational and not based in any real danger, then change your perception of it and push through it to the good stuff on the other side.

· When you face things that scare you, you will learn how to manage whatever scares you in your daily life, regardless what it is. If you want to face and overcome your fears, you will not only need to recognize them, you will need to truly understand them, as well as manage them in a positive and productive way.

Empowerment Moment: Respect Yourself

Empowerment Moment: Respect Yourself

Respect Yourself [Be a Rockstar]

· Self-respect is having pride and confidence in yourself, liking yourself for who and what you are, regardless of what you feel your deficits are. If you do not demonstrate self-respect then others will see that as a green light to disrespect you and treat you as you treat yourself. Self-respect means respecting others as well.

· When you respect yourself, you feel significantly happier and more confident in your life and interactions with others – socially, professionally and romantically. It also means being aware of how you act with others, the image you project out and respecting your boundaries.

Empowerment Moment: Mindset and Staying Motivated

Empowerment Moment: Mindset and Staying Motivated

Mindset and Staying Motivated [Be a Rockstar]

· Your mindset is the beliefs shaping how you see the world and yourself. Mindset influences how you think, feel, and behave in different situations. It is believed that there are two types of mindsets: fixed (never change) and growth (easily adaptable). Where you’re at will determine how motivated you will be.

· When you have a motivated growth mindset, the goals you set will be more easily achievable because you will be more action oriented, persistent, adaptable and less likely to give up when encountering challenges.

Empowerment Moment #100! Live Free. Love Strong. Be Bold!

Empowerment Moment #100! Live Free. Love Strong. Be Bold!

Live   Free. Love Strong. Be Bold! [Be a Rockstar]

· Some words of life wisdom for our 100th “Be   a Rockstar” segment! Live Free. Love Strong. Be Bold! This is your life to   live and we all need to do better and be better. We need to take our power   back and live an empowered life. Life is hard, there is no doubt about that,   but we can either embrace life as it comes or let it break us down bit by   bit. It’s not easy for everyone but it’s worth the effort.

· Living free means being free of other people’s   influence and expectations and not giving up your power to them by seeking   validation or approval for self-worth. Loving strong means being a good human   who loves others, helps lift them up and also loving yourself as you are.   Being bold means not hesitating or living in your comfort zone bubble, being   confident in your abilities and who are you are. All this means living   unapologetically. Being this way will make you untouchable.

Empowerment Moment: When The Going Gets Tough

Empowerment Moment: When The Going Gets Tough

When the going gets tough [Be a Rockstar]

· Life doesn’t always go as smoothly as we would like so how do we keep going when the going gets tough and goals seem out of reach? There are several ways you can stay motivated and it has everything to do with self-awareness and your feelings.

· One important way is keeping your eye on the prize, this means knowing your “why” and keeping it somewhere you can see it and be reminded. Another essential way is changing the “have to” to “get to”, shifting your perspective and mindset will help you stay motivated to do hard things.

· In the end, just roll with it, go with the flow, even if it’s a rocky road it won’t always be. Use your resilience to get through it and learn from the challenges you’re facing. When the going gets tough, be tough too and get going!

Empowerment Moment: How taking a walk can change your life

Empowerment Moment: How taking a walk can change your life

How taking a walk can change your life [Be a Rockstar]

· We’ve spoken before about how just taking a moment to breath helps re-focus your thinking. Today I’m going to take it one step further and show you how something simple as going for a walk will help change your perception, especially if you’re trying to figure something out or calm down.

· We know there are many health benefits to walking but did you know that there are also many mental health benefits? Walking, especially outdoors, has been proven to reduce stress, help calm you down, helps with your creativity and even improve your sleep. Studies have even shown its role in reducing the risk of dementia.

· Recent studies have proven that going for a walk outside actually reduces activity in the “stress” area of the brain. This research showed that exposure to nature is beneficial for mental health and intellect. Take someone with you or do it alone, but do yourself a favor and start walking!

Empowerment Moment: What I Can Control and What I Can’t

Empowerment Moment: What I Can Control and What I Can’t

What I Can Control and What I Can’t [Be a Rockstar]

· We need to focus our attention on what we do have control over rather than letting the things out of our control CONTROL us and take our power. Rather than worrying about those things we can’t control, we need to be empowered by the things that are within our control.

· What is within my control: my boundaries, my thoughts and actions, my goals, my habits, what I give my power to, how I speak to myself, how I handle challenges

· What is not within my control: the past, the future, the actions and opinions of others, what other people think of me or their reactions, how others live their lives and the choices they make

Empowerment Moment: Slowing Down Your Decision Making Process

Empowerment Moment: Slowing Down Your Decision Making Process

Slowing Down Your Decision Making Process [Be a Rockstar]

· In order to start making better decisions, rather than being impulsive, you need to be more mindful and slow down your decision making process. This will help you make more informed decisions because it will give you time to think about it and to do your research. Learn all the facts before making a decision. Think before you speak.

· When you learn from your mistakes, it also helps you be more self-aware and thoughtful as you go through life. You see the cues, you recognize the triggers. Remember, “live life forward while understanding it backwards”. Self-care rituals such as filling your cup will help you live a calmer more thoughtful life resulting in more mindfulness and self-awareness.

Empowerment Moment: Breathing to Refocus

Empowerment Moment: Breathing to Refocus

Breathing   to Refocus [Be a Rockstar]

· Breathing helps relax the body. In fact, when you hold your   breath for a period of time it replenishes your oxygen levels and give your   body a much needed boost of oxygen and regulates your stress levels. This can   help you refocus in challenging situations and if you’re freaking out about   something.

· There are two types of breathing techniques I can recommend:

1. The 4-7-8 breathing technique   involves:
breathing in   for 4 seconds, holding your breath for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds.   Repeat as many times as you need in order to feel relaxed.

2. The “Lazy 8” method involves:
tracing a   number 8 while controlling your breathing, while you trace your finger around   one loop of the 8 you inhale, and as you trace the other loop of the 8 you   exhale. Repeat as many times as you need in order to feel relaxed.

Empowerment Moment: Living Your Truth

Empowerment Moment: Living Your Truth

Living Your Truth [Be a Rockstar]

· Living YOUR truth means living your life in the best way that you can by being true to yourself, your calling and your passions. You fully embrace WHO you are, the good and the not so good, and you use your life experiences as solid stepping stones to help you on your journey forward.

· To live your truth, you need self-awareness. You can begin by answering the following five “truth statements”:

ü 1) The REAL reason I have an issue in my relationships is … 2) The REAL reason I’m not where I want to be in life is … 3) The REAL reason I prioritize other people’s happiness before my own is … 4) The REAL reason I’m not financially stable is … 5) The REAL reason I still have that secret habit or liaison with someone is …

· Journaling can help you reflect on these points. Again it comes down to being more self-aware. When you are self- aware you KNOW your truth and you can live it. Instead of being stuck playing your past on repeat, you can live life forward and be empowered!

Empowerment Moment: Role of Journaling in Self Compassion

Empowerment Moment: Role of Journaling in Self Compassion

Role of Journaling in Self Compassion [Be a Rockstar]

· According to new research, those who experience greater feelings of caring and kindness toward themselves tend to also feel less uninterested and passive in life because self-compassion increases perceptions of a having meaningful life by strengthening our self-worth and enhancing feelings of connection to both the self and others.

· Studies also have shown that self-compassion can be encouraged through journaling and meditation techniques, as a potential solution your “blah whatever” feelings. It actually can enhance your life’s meaning and make you less bored with your life because you’re focusing on what is going right and your growth.

· What’s even more interesting was that it was found that journaling can also help you be more self-aware and self-awareness leads to growth which then leads to empowerment. Journaling + Self-Awareness = Growth + Self-Compassion = Empowerment!

What’s Your Why? [Be a Rockstar]

· Your “why” is the purpose of doing whatever it is you are doing. Your “why” motivates and fuels you to act and it keeps you focused on your goals each day. Regardless of what you are trying to accomplish, being confident in knowing why you are doing what you are doing will help keep your eyes on the prize.

· Determining your “why” is so important, especially if you have a goal you would like to reach. Each day will have meaning, a higher purpose when you are motivated. You will also be more focused and your “why” will undoubtedly shape all your decisions and actions.

· This is where journaling with affirmations and gratitude comes in really handy. It keep you on track with your goals by keeping you focused by reminding you of your why and puts you back on track when you need it.

Empowerment Moment: Self-Check: How Are You Doing?

Empowerment Moment: Self-Check: How Are You Doing?

Self-Check: How Are You Doing? [Be a Rockstar]

· Life goes by so quickly and we often live on auto-pilot without taking time out to do a self-check. This can really affect our mental health as will always looking back or worrying about the future. Staying grounded in the present means effectively managing stress and understanding your emotions. Essentially, just stopping and appreciating where you are at makes a big difference.

· This is where self-care and journaling comes in. It can be a really valuable way to check in with yourself to see how you’re doing, what you’re feeling and what impact the day has had on you. This will make you more self-aware and is essentially giving yourself a big hug. You matter and this first and foremost should come from within yourself.

· Do you take time out to pause and reflect, to check in with yourself? If not, perhaps it’s sometime you can carve out time for in your day and the empowerment journal is a great vessel for your reflections.

Empowerment Moment: Never Letting Anything Drag You Down

Empowerment Moment: Never Letting Anything Drag You Down

Never Letting Anything Drag You Down [Be a Rockstar]

· We all experience negative events in our life. But, instead of letting it drag us into a pit, we should change the narrative and turn this experience into a lesson learned. When we let any situation affect us then we are giving the situation our power.

· Empowerment, taking back your power, means not letting anything drag you down. When you hold the power you’re like Teflon - nothing sticks! It takes some work to get to that point, of course, especially when you’ve let things and people get under your skin for such a long time.

· Think of a situation that you felt was negative and ask yourself, what is the lesson learned? How can I use it to empower me? It’s helpful when journaling to include lessons learned in the gratitude section of your journal.

Empowermet Moment: I Love Me, I Love Me Not: A Self-Love Letter to Myself

I Love Me, I Love Me Not: A Self-Love Letter to Myself [Be a Rockstar]

· Being kind to ourselves is not always easy. We can be our harshest critics. That’s why it’s important to carve out some time for some self-love. Write about the things you like or love about yourself, things you are proud of, what you’re grateful to yourself for and what you feel makes you special.

· Use this as a self-care exercise. Be comfortable and practice some breathing exercises to start and then reflect on what you would really like to write to yourself. Write it down (write not type), even if it’s a few lines. Put it somewhere you can find it when you need it most. Repeat the exercise every once in a while.

Empowerment Moment - Experience vs Wisdom

Empowerment Moment - Experience vs Wisdom

Experience vs Wisdom [Be a Rockstar]

· Wisdom is defined as “the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment”. Wisdom is gained through experience, but only if you learn from it. You have to be able to see the value in what has happened, regardless if it is in line with your goals or your personal beliefs. I have spoken a lot about being grateful for ALL the things that happen to us because they have made us who we are and have the potential to bring us to an empowered place. That is wisdom.

· What can make us wise? According to experts, “identifying and expressing your values, being honest to yourself and others, focusing on process rather than outcome, learning from mistakes, and believing you have a contribution to make can help you become a wiser person.” It doesn’t necessarily come with age, but it does come with the maturity to take control of our narrative and, by default, taking control of our power.

· You really have to be able to take what is going on with your life and really examine it to extract the wisdom you can gain from it. This is sometimes easier than others but it is nonetheless an important part of growth and empowerment. Sitting back and being a victim of circumstance just doesn’t cut it, not if you want to live an empowered life.

Empowerment Moment - Our default reactions

Empowerment Moment - Our default reactions

Our default reactions [Be a Rockstar]

· We all have default behaviors and reactions, especially in challenging situations, it’s automatic and we do it without thinking. It’s something that has worked for you in the past that’s an impulsive defence mechanism like assuming the worst, jumping to conclusions, anger, focusing on the negative.

· In order to change our default takes a lot of self-control and intention. We need to stop and think rather than being reactive. Being thoughtful, identifying your triggers and controlling your impulses is a good place to start. Your default reaction is like a Band-Aid but we need to get to the root of why it’s there and solve it, feeling our feelings.

· Make a list of past challenging situations listing your default reactions to them. Reflect on how a different reaction would work better for you. Make a commitment to yourself to not react impulsively. Think of it as those moments when you think of what to respond or say to someone after.

Empowerment Moment: Do we wear our past?

Empowerment Moment: Do we wear our past?

Do we wear our past? [Be a Rockstar]

· When we have experienced pain or trauma, or even a challenging situation, we can hold on to it longer than we need to because it’s what we know, we are comfortable there even if it causes unhappiness and suffering. We continuously give it power and feed it until we wear it, it becomes part of who we are.

· When our past defines us, it allows us to be that person which brings with it sympathy, compassion, even protection. It serves us which is why we keep it around. Instead of growing, this stunts your growth.

· Just like we choose to hold on, we can likewise choose to let go and move forward. It doesn’t negate your experience but gives it meaning. Then you can take back your power and change your narrative. This takes time but eventually you’ll be able to treat yourself to a new wardrobe instead of wearing your past all the time – and who doesn’t want a new wardrobe?

Empowerment Moment: Severing unhealthy attachments

Empowerment Moment: Severing unhealthy attachments

Severing unhealthy attachments [Be a Rockstar]

· Many times we can’t let go of our strong attachment – whether it’s in love, lust, friendship or even to things - because there is something tethering us to that experience but more often than not it is all YOU. You’re the one holding on, and you need to ask yourself why you’re still attached. False Hope? Loneliness? Fear?

· Some people or things will always have a special place in our hearts but that doesn’t mean they deserve a special place in our lives. It doesn’t mean we have to give up our power to them and let them take up room in our cup when we should be filling our cup and lives with things that empower us.

· Anyone or anything that completely consumes us, our thoughts, our bodies, our whole being is extremely unhealthy. Focusing on self-care, self-love and self-worth will help you do this more effectively. This will encourage your growth and openness to what else life has to offer.

Empowerment Moment: Living your past on repeat

Empowerment Moment: Living your past on repeat

Living your past on repeat [Be a Rockstar]

· When traumatic events happen, we often relive those moments over and over again in our mind. It often consumes us and we get into a hole that we can’t climb out of. Hate, shame, fear or any other emotion you are feeling takes over your power and control.

· Letting go of your negative experience is severing the attachment that other people, places or things have on you; taking that major step to move forward without looking back. I am here to tell you, from personal experience, that it is so worth making the effort to get to the other side of hurt where there is happiness and LIFE. Making this decision to let go and move through the trauma doesn’t negate it or discount its effect on your life but what it does do is help you break free from your trauma.

· To begin your path to healing, you need to acknowledge what it is that is holding you back from moving forward and write down a plan of action of how you will work to let it go. This might mean getting help from others such as therapists or those close to you.

Empowerment Moment: Why you aren’t achieving your goals

Empowerment Moment: Why you aren’t achieving your goals

Why you aren’t achieving your goals [Be a Rockstar]

· We often make the mistake of creating goals that are too big and get unmotivated when we don’t reach them. Instead, make your big goal an umbrella or overarching on and set smaller goals underneath like rungs of a ladder.

· You set the wrong types of goals. All your goals should be specific (simple), measurable (meaningful), achievable (attainable), relevant (realistic) and time bound (timely). These S.M.A.R.T. goals will more often than not be successful because you’ve set yourself up for success by taking all things into consideration.

· You don’t plan. Planning your path and preparing yourself in advance for obstacles helps you jump those hurdles more effectively rather than tripping over them. Also, consider the personal sacrifices that will be necessary and if you are willing to endure them.

Empowerment Segment: Giving Yourself Permission to Say NO!

Empowerment Segment: Giving Yourself Permission to Say NO!

Giving Yourself Permission to Say NO! [Be a Rockstar]

· One of the pillars of self-care is the ability to only accept people and things in your life that will empower you and not devalue you. Being able to say “NO” to others is empowering and an act of self-care. You should be able to say “NO” without feeling guilty, selfish, shamed or unaccomplished in any way.

· It’s not personal, it’s an act of self-preservation. It’s about your needs versus theirs. If they don’t align then you shouldn’t feel obligated in any way to say “yes”. If you do, you feel defeated, drained and disempowered, not to mention resentful towards others.

· When you say no, be direct and don’t apologize or even give excuses. If it doesn’t come naturally to you then you need to start small and then move your way up. You can even start by writing the word NO on a paper that you place on your work computer or somewhere you can clearly see it as a reminder. It won’t happen overnight, but eventually you will start taking your power back and feel so much better and happier.

Empowerment Segment: Everyone Makes Mistakes

Empowerment Segment: Everyone Makes Mistakes

Everyone Makes Mistakes [Be a Rockstar]

· We ALL make mistakes, it’s a normal part of life. But, when we make a mistake, we are often filled with so much shame and regret. We give the mistakes our power and it consumed us. We get lost in them.

· We all do what we think is the best thing for us at each moment in time, and sometimes (many times) we miss the mark but in the end each experience that we’ve had has made us who we are and we should be proud of any growth we’ve experienced as we continue on our life’s path – looking back only to learn but not to dwell in the past.

· We need to be kind to ourselves, even in those cringe moments. That is one of the keys to empowerment. You and only you can define who you are. When we feel shame it’s mostly because of what we perceive others think of us, stop giving them that power. Own your mistakes and use them as leverage for your life.

· Kindness should be at the center of all our thoughts   and actions. We should be models of kindness. When we choose kindness   towards others we will also choose it towards ourselves. In the same way,   when you are filled with kindness towards yourself, you project it outwards   to others.

· Being kind to yourself means not giving yourself a hard   time when you don’t meet your own expectations. It is taking back your power   and eliminating any negative self-talk as well as downplaying your   accomplishments.

· Learn to be kind to yourself first and foremost by   forgiving yourself, celebrating your wins, taking care of your mental and   physical health, get the help you need for any challenges in your life,   self-care to fill your cup and also surrounding yourself with good people who   encourage your empowerment rather than take it from you.

POST IT NOTE: I will speak   kindly to myself

Renters You Can Still Buy - ALSO - Healthcare Horrors CALLER 9 Sept 1, 2022

Renters You Can Still Buy - ALSO - Healthcare Horrors CALLER 9 Sept 1, 2022

This is the show where we talk to you... About whatever you want to talk about!

Today, Linda from https://manfrediaiello.com calls to discuss the number of people they have who are looking to rent, because they believe that there isn't an opportunity to buy real estate.    In fact, there is.   She runs down some of the options and offers some fantastic advice about mortgages and how to save a few dollars along the way.

Then, Julie calls to discuss the health care crisis.   Just last night the Kemptville hospital announced they would be closing overnights this weekend.   We saw this recently in Carleton Place and even in Ottawa.    She tells her story of just how frustrated she is trying to get help... And we wonder what the solutions are, and if the help people need will be there when the new 988 mental health line, announced by the Trudeau Government yesterday, launches.

Plus... We talk wieners with Chris Fothergill Brown from Youtube.com/thatsrank and how to flirt with Sue McGarvie from www.SexWithSue.com

Meet BTR's New Host, Steve Hatherly Formerly At TBS S. Korea

Meet BTR's New Host, Steve Hatherly Formerly At TBS S. Korea

BlastTheRadio.com was launched in late 2014 by well known Canadian radio host, John Mielke (The Milkman) after the station he had been at for 23 years changed format and he was let go.

Initially intended as a place to continue his show until he found his next opportunity, the internet only station quickly attracted an audience, winning Fans Choice Awards, being voted BEST RADIO station three times at two different competitions and with Mielke being named favourite media personality.

Today BTR has become an outlet for other broadcasters who find themselves in a similar situation to have a home with hosts from across Canada and around the world contributing!    And, with technology advancing so quickly, BTR is evolving into a true modern, multi-media, streaming outlet with hosts now having the option to broadcast on the existing radio stream, but also on outlets such as Twitch, Youtube, Facebook Live, Twitter Live and more!

It’s the use of these video based platforms that has inspired BlastTheRadio.com to begin a re-branding as WBTR.ca, which keeps the “R” for “radio,” which is our foundation, but also acknowledges that We’re Beyond The Radio (WBTR).

Hosts can, and do, make their content available on their own channels as well, including podcast networks.   And, with BTR’s established live stream, listeners around the world can hear the content in their cars via the free BlastTheRadio.com app and on TuneIn Radio, as well as on the Google and Amazon smart speakers (command is “Play Blast The Radio”) as well as on the station’s website.

Today, WBTR announced the addition of Storytime With Steve Hatherly to its lineup.   A Canadian who has hosted an incredibly successful radio show in Seoul South Korea for several years, Hatherly, coincidentally, is the brother of Mielke’s youngest brother’s wife.   So this new addition is very much a family affair and truly underscores how revolutionary BTR is, being able to bring broadcasters from around the world together seamlessly in one place.

Storytime show time will be announced shortly as we venture to schedule it so that his audience in Seoul and his new audience in North America can enjoy it together!

For more information, contact John Mielke at milky@BlastTheRadio.com

Life Empowerment Segement: The Power of Gratitude

Life Empowerment Segement: The Power of Gratitude

Suzie is online @ www.DivaOfLove.com

· There is always something to be grateful for, or is there? Sometimes the challenges in our life leave us wondering why, but some things happen because they happen, no reason why. What we need to do is leverage them to our advantage. How? With gratitude. You can be grateful for the lesson learned, grateful that you got through it or even grateful you’re not there anymore. Use it. Change the narrative.

· At the end of the day, I encourage folks to list what they are thankful for. This can be something significant or insignificant, what’s important is recognizing the value of all things that happen and ending the day on a positive note.

· Why gratitude? When you practice gratitude you are happier, have enhanced mental health, have improved physical health and are less stressed. Gratitude also improves self-awareness and increases self-worth. It equates to better overall health and wellness – mentally, emotionally and physically.

POST IT NOTE: I commit to finding something to be grateful for each day

Goals of the Day

Goals of the Day

Suzie is online @ www.DivaOfLove.com

MAIN POINTS:

1. Setting the right goals for your day helps you achieve what you set out to do in your daily life because it motivates you to increase the effort you put in to accomplishing your goal. This also triggers new habits and behaviors, ultimately helping you reach the bigger goals you aspire to.

2. When you achieve your goal it inspires you to do more and gives you a self-esteem boost. These little goals help you achieve your bigger goals because they are a step up the ladder. Simply put, achieving your goal feels really good!

3. In your Empowerment Journal you are encouraged to write 1-2 simple professional goals, 1-2 simple mental health goals, 1-2 simple personal/social and 1-2 physical/self-care goals each day. They should be something very easy to accomplish and can be part of a larger overarching goal. For example something like meditating, taking a walk, organizing your agenda or even having coffee with a friend.

POST IT NOTE: I commit to setting and meeting achievable goals

Affirmation of the Day

Affirmation of the Day

Suzie is online @ www.DivaOfLove.com

MAIN POINTS:

1. Affirmations are statements that write down and repeat. It is said that affirmations need to be in the present tense, positive tone, personal to you and specific. In essence, they are self-affirming declarations to help encourage a more productive mindset.

2. An affirmation is a commitment to yourself to make a change, to make better choices and to feel better about who you are. The ultimate goal is to encourage being kind to and accepting of yourself.

3. Affirmations can be an “I am” or an “I will” statement such as “I am worthy of love”, “I believe in myself/my abilities” or even “I will say no more today”. They can also be about the day like “today will be a good day”. You can write this daily in your Empowerment Journal and also on a paper that you stick where you can see it.

POST IT NOTE: I commit to having an affirmation each day

Suzie: Journaling to Empowerment

Suzie: Journaling to Empowerment

As heard on The Milkman Show at www.WBTR.ca

MAIN POINTS:

1. There are countless studies that discuss the benefits of journaling on physical, mental and emotional health – such as reducing stress, boosting mood, boosting confidence, encouraging good habits, helping process emotions, refocusing attention, encouraging positive thinking, and the list goes on …

2. Although having the discipline to journal each day could be challenging at first, eventually it will be a part of your daily routine. The important thing is to start and start small. A few minutes a day in the morning and evening will make a significant difference to your mindset … and even might give you a few “a-ha” moments.

3. Writing on a paper typically has a deeper impact because it’s more thoughtful and physical, however, you can also use your technical device if you find that more convenient. This is why I creating my Empowerment Journal to help make it easier for you.

POST IT NOTE: I commit to journaling each day

Empowerment on a Higher Ground: Authenticity & Power

Empowerment on a Higher Ground: Authenticity & Power

Empowerment on a Higher Ground: Authenticity & Power [Be a Rockstar]

MAIN POINTS:

1. Living an authentic life means living your truth. It means being empowered by who you are rather than what others want you to be.

2. When you live with honesty and integrity, you are true to your core values and beliefs with little to no influence from others.

3. Expert advice lists these five ways to be authentic: 1. Don’t lie, 2. Don’t say what you are thinking impulsively, 3. Trust the feedback your body/gut gives you, 4. Stay in your own truth—and out of other people’s business, 5. Accept the ugly bits of yourself, including the difficult emotions.

4. You can tell if someone is authentic or fake by observing their words and actions. They are usually the ones that not concerned about their “image”, they’re consistent and focus on being their true vulnerable self, admitting when they are wrong.

5. An authentic person is empowered by being themselves. They are grateful for their life and all their experiences, appreciating them as part of who they are, no shame or guilt necessary.

TRY THIS: Take inventory of your life listing in your journal when you feel the most and least authentic. Try and figure out why you feel less authentic in those situations and plan a more authentic path forward.

POST IT NOTE: I will be my most authentic self!

Empowerment on a Higher Ground: Ownership & Power

Empowerment on a Higher Ground: Ownership & Power

MAIN POINTS:

1. Taking ownership of your life is empowering because you understand and respect your own role in your narrative.

2. When we lay blame on other people or things for our life experiences, we immediately give away our power. You are relinquishing control which can make you more miserable.

3. Instead of reacting impulsively, you can choose to take control of your thoughts, your words and your actions.

4. Taking ownership is also about seeing your goals and commitments through and not letting external influences affect you.

5. Affirm ownership of everything in your life each day, in the same way be grateful for each and every experience you have and control the narrative.

TRY THIS: Take ownership of your life by being more aware of what experiences you blame others for. Instead of blaming, take control and change the narrative.

POST IT NOTE: I will own my story!

Building Blocks of Empowerment: Freedom and Power

Building Blocks of Empowerment: Freedom and Power

Building   Blocks of Empowerment: Freedom and Power [Be a Rockstar]

MAIN POINTS:

1. Freedom is   the power or right to act, speak, or think whatever you want without anything   getting in your way.

2. People tend   to confuse what freedom really means and use it as an excuse for bad behavior   because with your freedom also comes responsibility – that’s where power   comes in.

3. Just   because you are free to say or do anything, doesn’t mean you should. We spoke   about free will before and it’s about making the right choices or else we   would all live in anarchy.

4. Freedom   empowers you because you should be freeing yourself from any self-limiting   beliefs, any unhealthy attachments and anything that is holding you back from   reaching your goals.

5. Affirming   and appreciating your freedom each day will help you reach your goals faster   and in a less stressful way.

TRY THIS: Write down   every self-limiting belief and unhealthy attachment that is holding you back   from reaching your goals. Then forge a plan how to eliminate them one by one.

POST IT NOTE: I will live   a life of true freedom
