Welcome back to Wellness All Seasons with Mina Podcast. I’m your host Mina Qandar and so excited to be with you here in this new episode.
Today, my guest Mia Bolden, a Coach and Motivational Speaker, shares her journey of self-discovery.
Mia grew up in a middle-class family. She was the oldest sibling and had a stepsister with an Asian appearance. Mia’s father was black. By doing this, she began to make bad decisions, rebelling, running away from home, hanging with the wrong people, and selling drugs.
Seeing people from her circle start going to jail, Mia called her mother to move back home.
Mia was in the worst situation of her life. She lost her self-esteem, her self-confidence, and she gained weight. It was so hard that the voice inside her became louder. She wanted to lose weight and change her life.
Mia started to go to the gym and practice yoga. She discovered her spiritual awakening and changed her life.

#103 - The Healing Power of Writing
How Can Writing and Spirituality Help Healing from a Negative Experience?
Have you ever had a traumatic experience that you keep secret? Can you imagine how it can affect your life, your behavior, and your relationship with yourself and others?
This is what happened to my guest Ericka Majors, Author and Educator. She experienced a traumatic situation when she was in the Army. She was shocked and didn’t understand why it happened. She couldn’t talk about it to anybody.
Ericka had held her bad experience in secret for 20 years. Which negatively affected her, ruined her marriage, deteriorated her behavior with her children and her relationship with others. She was angry and felt lost.
Ericka’s internal voice called her to seek help. This was not only helpful for her but also for her children who were affected by her behavior toward them.
Ericka shares her story and how writing and spirituality helped her heal from the traumatic experience. She wrote a collaboration book “The Ultimate Guide to Unapologetic Mental Health”.

Emotions are an integral part of being human. They play a significant role in how we perceive and interact with the world around us. Expressing emotions can vary from one person to another and can be influenced by individual differences, cultural norms, and personal circumstances.
Some individuals express their emotions openly and visibly and others don’t. In this episode, you will discover how to deal with your emotions and the importance of emotional well-being in your daily life.
Hi. I’m Mina Qandar, founder of Wellness All Seasons with Mina Podcast. Welcome. If you are new and interested in your well-being physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially, consider subscribing so that you don’t miss the upcoming episodes.
Emotions serve to process information, make decisions, and connect with others on a deeper level. It is important to note that having emotions is a natural and normal aspect of the human experience.
Some express their emotions openly and visibly through their facial expressions, body language, tone of voice, or words. They use their emotions as a response to personal experiences, events, relationships, challenges, or other triggers. This can influence many aspects of a person’s life depending on the environmental, social, and relational circumstances.
The intensity and expression of emotions can impact your well-being and the outcome. That’s why it’s crucial to know how to manage your emotions effectively and protect your well-being in both of life’s ups and downs.
Here are 7 key components of emotional well-being:
1. Emotional Awareness: Your ability to recognize and understand your emotions and the feelings of others.
2. Emotional Regulation: Your capacity to manage and control emotional responses appropriately, avoiding extreme emotional reactions.
3. Coping Skills: Your ability to effectively cope with stress, adversity, and life changes without being overwhelmed by negative emotions.
4. Resilience: Your capacity to bounce back from setbacks, difficulties, and traumas, maintaining inner strength and balance.
5. Positive Relationships: Having supportive, nurturing, and positive relationships with family, friends, and social networks.
6. Self-esteem: A healthy sense of self-worth and self-acceptance, fostering a positive self-image.
7. Life Satisfaction: Overall contentment and fulfillment in life, even in the face of challenges.
Emotional well-being plays a vital role in your overall well-being and quality of life, influencing various aspects such as physical health, social interactions, productivity, and achieving personal goals. #93 - Emotions and Well-Being
Research has shown that our emotions and physical well-being are interconnected. One can impact the other and the consequences are significant.
Emotions refer to the state of a person and the ability to handle the challenges and experiences of life. It’s important to note that emotions result from your personal experiences, physical well-being, environmental circumstances, and your interactions with others.
Depending on the quality of these factors, you can have either positive or negative emotions.
In this episode, you will discover the relationship between your emotions and your well-being.

In the previous episodes, we talked about different situations that can cause negative emotions, which significantly affect a person’s well-being. Check episodes of trauma, unhealthy relationships, unhealthy workplaces, and much more.
When you experience positive emotions, you express joy and positive energy. On the other hand, if you experience negative emotions, you feel weak, sad, and anxious. This can disturb your sleep, which leads to fatigue and feeling irritated.
It’s crucial to be aware of your emotions, identify the root causes, and manage them so that they don’t affect your well-being.
My friends, you deserve to experience more positive emotions than the negative ones.
In some cases, negative emotions can have a positive impact on our growth. We can feel them, learn from them, and use them to change our life.
Be aware of your emotions and use them for your well-being.
Don’t let negative emotions destroy your well-being.
Emotional well-being is a dynamic state. You can actively work on improving your emotional well-being through self-awareness, seeking support from others, engaging in healthy activities, and practicing self-care.

If you are a busy woman and struggle with stress or any situation that affects your well-being, this short episode is for you.
Hi. I’m Mina Qandar, founder of Wellness All Seasons with Mina Podcast. Welcome. The goal is to empower you to stay fit, healthy, energetic, and serene.
Your busy daily life can be stressful and deprive you of your overall well-being. Your well-being matters. That’s why it’s crucial to let go and enjoy the present moment.
Here are 5 tips to help you in your daily life:
1. Be fully present and live the present moment without judgment. Incorporate practices, such as deep breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, or walking. These practices can help you let go and focus on the present.
2. Prioritize self-care: As a busy woman, it’s easy to forget your well-being. Having your regular self-care time is necessary. Choose what you enjoy most and do it.
3. Learn to say no to tasks or commitments that overwhelm you. If you say yes to all the solicitations, you will not have time for you.
4. Take regular breaks from your phone, emails, social media. This will help you connect with yourself, the world around you, and the people you are with.
5. Practice Gratitude: Practicing gratitude every day and focusing on the positive aspects of your life can help you cultivate joy and new perspectives.
Remember, letting go and enjoying the present moment is a skill that takes practice. Start with small steps and be patient with yourself as you develop these habits. Over time, you'll find it easier to let go of stress and be fully present in the beautiful moments life has to offer.

#90 - The Impact of Trauma on Well-Being
Many events and experiences can be traumatic, such as experiencing violence, accidents, natural disasters, sexual assault, ongoing abuse, or other incidents. A traumatic experience can have a profound impact on a person’s well-being, physically, mentally, emotionally, or socially.
Here are some common ways in which a traumatic experience can impact a person’s well-being:
1. Physical impact: chronic pain, headaches, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and a weakened immune system.
2. Mental impact: a traumatic experience may contribute to depression, anxiety, nightmares, flashbacks, and hypervigilance.
3. Emotional impact: Such as feelings of fear, anxiety, anger, sadness, guilt, or shame. Managing and expressing emotions may be compromised.
4. Relational impact: A traumatic experience may lead to difficulties with trust, intimacy, and emotional connection.
5. Cognitive impact: Individuals may have trouble concentrating on tasks or have difficulties to make decisions.
6. Self-esteem and identity: The person may experience feelings of guilt, shame, or worthlessness.
It's important to note that the impact of trauma can vary from person to person, and the severity and duration of symptoms can also differ. Seeking professional help from a therapist who specializes in trauma can provide valuable support in navigating the healing process and addressing the specific impacts on well-being.

#86 - The Power of Letting Go on Your Well-Being
We are not equal in how we react to challenging situations. Some people have the power to use them positively. They learn from them, take action to change things and move on. However, others struggle with holding inside tension, strong negative emotions, and thoughts.
So, what can you do to face a hard situation that you cannot control?
Challenging experiences may cause anger, irritation, and frustration. These feelings hurt your well-being, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
If you pay more attention to the bad experiences, you suffer more. So, how to deal with and keep your well-being?
The important thing to start with is to trust that things happen for a reason and be open to the opportunity to live new experiences.
Second, be positive, learn from your challenges, and use them instead of letting them use you.
And finally, practice letting go by focusing on what you can control or change. This is not easy but it’s a process.
Practicing Letting go is so powerful. It helps you transform your life and protect your well-being.
