MBB 22: Tim Angelone-From Hitting the Bottom to Breakthrough
Tim Angelone is a Beekeper and Policeman in the City of Cleveland, Ohio. He suffered a catastrophic skydiving accident in the summer of 2016. His world as he knew it, changed in just a few seconds as he raced towards the ground. He was air lifted to a Level 1 Trauma hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to repair his pelvis, sacrum, and lumbar/sacral spinal cord levels. Many hours later, he awoke to find out he had been bolted back together. He soon discovered that he had Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) and was told he likely would not walk for many months, feel much of his body from the waist down and have control of his bowel and bladder for the foreseeable future. He would go on to experience unthinkable pain and spiraled into depression and severe anxiety. Shortly after insurance cut his physical therapy visits off, he joined a gym and began recovery on his own. In just 90 days, he went from being in an out of a wheelchair and unable to stand for more than a couple of minutes to practicing yoga and weight training. Tim returned to work as a police officer 7 months after his injury. Nearing the 1 year anniversary of his accident, he choose to take a medical leave of absence and try a different form of therapy as he felt he had hit a plateau in recovery. He modified his backpack to fit on his metal laden back and flew to Europe to go for a walk. He began in France and walked 650 miles across the northern coast of Spain over the course of 53 days. He was striving for a full recovery and was determined to change the things that held him back. He returned from his trip a stronger version of his former self, both physically and mentally. He would go on to return to work as a police officer in a full duty capacity and grow his beekeeping and raw honey business bigger than he could have ever hoped. MBB 17: Sarah Kleiner "The Carnivore Yogi": From Struggle to Breakthrough
Sarah has had a lifelong struggle with her weight, and went to weight watchers for the first time at age 11. Food always served as a friend and comfort for most of Sarah’s life, and her weight was 220 pounds in high school and 235 pounds when her daughter was born in 2007. After her daughter, Alexis, was born, Sarah made the decision to lose the weight for good, and found yoga as a tool to continue to heal herself from lifelong food addiction, depression and anxiety.  When her daughter was diagnosed with severe nonverbal autism in 2009, Sarah left her corporate job and became a stay at home mom and a yoga teacher. After losing 100 pounds 10 years ago, Sarah has tried many ways to reclaim her health and maintain a healthy body weight - including veganism, vegetarianism, juice & smoothie cleanses, keto and calorie restriction. In November of 2018, Sarah had regained about 30 pounds from her initial 100 pound weight loss, and was diagnosed with PCOS.    Sick and tired of paying nutritionists & personal trainers and continuing to gain weight, she decided to try the Carnivore way of eating as a last resort.
