Voices from Mill Waters
This podcast has been recorded at the Mill Waters Heritage Centre, at Kings Mill reservoir in Mansfield. We may echo a little bit as we recorded it in the fabulous Discovery Room next to the Mill Waters Café. We talk to Emma Hancock, Mill Waters Community Engagement Ranger and Keith Marshall, Volunteer Ranger and learn all about the area, the Mill Waters project and all the amazing activities and events taking place including Wild Adventures and the Willow Tree Memory Café.

Today's episode takes us to the incredible Papplewick Pumping Station, Britain's finest Victorian waterworks. We talk to Ashley Smart, Director of the Museum and Mick Conroy, Volunteer and Chairman of the Papplewick Association. The pumping station was constructed in the 1880s and still has all its original features and beautifully landscaped gardens. This is a beautiful 650-acre park north of Nottingham city centre, which is the southern end of the original historic Sherwood Forest. He explains the history of the park and how the brilliant volunteers bring a smile, cake and sunshine to this old colliery site. Voices from the Mine: Turning Coal
The first podcast from the Miner2Major Landscape Partnership project, based in and around Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire. In this episode, we interview volunteers at the incredible Bilsthorpe Heritage Museum. We learn about the history of the museum, set up by ex-miners (which shows off the heritage of the village and its mining heritage) and hear from some of its brilliant volunteers.
