Ep 37- Chicago Miniature Shows- Spring 2022
I wanted to share my experience from 2 Miniature Shows that I was able to attend this Spring in Chicago.  The first being the Tom Bishop Show, which marked its 44th year of miniature show production this year! This show gathers miniature enthusiasts from all over the world; a half of million people have attended past shows to be exact!  The second show I attended was a smaller show by T&D Miniatures, which was only an 18 mile drive. Ep 35- Meet Marina- a very talented miniaturist
Meet Marina- a very talented miniaturist who's love for this hobby started at the age of 7, when her dad built her first doll house; a house that she still has! Her love for Miniatures spans over several years, however she didn't start creating her own miniatures until a few years ago and that includes furniture and kitchens. "Its all in the detail," Marina states and that is shown in her work. Ep 34- Auction win leads to miniature passion
Meet Michael Hogan. He is a collector of dollhouse miniatures, focusing on museum quality artisan made pieces. Hogan found himself immersed in the world of miniatures when he won a dollhouse at an auction for around $500. After doing some research, he discovered the house's value to be worth something around $10,000! This started a new journey into the world of miniatures. Since obtaining that first dollhouse, Michael has collected and curated several pieces including several complete dollhouses and over 25 room boxes.  The miniature creations range from Cape Cod to Georgian and Michael curates the furnishings and interiors accordingly. Ep 33- Meet Brittany; nurse, mom and talented Miniature Maker
Meet Brittany- a registered nurse and mom to 3 little girls. Miniature making for Brittney started when she bought her girls a dollhouse for Christmas in 2020. Planning on buying furnishing for the dollhouse, she quickly found that pieces for the house were expensive. That's when she decided to try and make a few pieces herself. She found that she really enjoyed it and that she was good at it! Friends and family pushed her to make more and start selling on Etsy! Meet Theresa- she started renovating her childhood dollhouse with the intention of using it as a way to teach her two daughters woodworking and various computer design programs. Let's just say it didn't turn out as planned. Instead, we get to benefit as Theresa shares her wonderful tutorials and DIY projects on her website and social media platforms. Ep 31- Small Scale Artisan- Fran Sussman
Fran Sussman from Some Like it Small works primarily in dollhouse-for-a-dollhouse (also called 1:144th) scale. This means the objects she creates are 1/144—less than 1 percent the size of their real life counterparts!  She loves “repurposing” found objects, and uses a variety of materials, from wood, to metal, to glass and even fur and leather. Her wonderful work has earned her Artisan status with IGMA, the  International Guild of Miniature Artisans ( She has taught workshops at Chicago International, the Guild Show, and Philadelphia  Miniaturia, and accepts commissions. EP 30- Tammie Knight - Small Matters Miniatures
Meet Tammie- She has been collecting and making miniatures since the age of 9! She's a graduate of Parsons School of Design (NY) and is great at incorporating her love of design and background into the aesthetic of her miniature projects. She has created over 1,500 miniature projects for clients, family, and  friends. For the past 20 years, she has been working on her masterpiece, (a dollhouse that combines the styles of a New York City Brownstone, a Parisian Townhouse, and a Georgian Manor.) Outside of her miniature passion, she has spent the past 17+ years in Executive Assistant and Chief of Staff roles to the CEOs of Sephora, Bare Escentuals,  Optimizely, Lyft, and VSCO. She's a native New Yorker that made her way to the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 90's, where she now reside with her husband and two kiddos. Ep 16: Preston Poling- Fraiser Enthusiast and Miniaturist
Preston may be a newbie to the Miniature World but you can't tell by looking at his work! He is a fan of the Frasier Show; an American television sitcom that was broadcast on NBC for 11 seasons, ending 2004. Preston constructed of a 1/12 scale replica of the apartment seen in the show. The name of his project is known as "The Frasier Project" and can be seen here:  The Best part of Preston's creations is that 100% of the proceeds go to "Ranger's Project", a charity for a local Animal Shelter.
