EPI# 19 SEA# 2 "Back from the future- A meditation."
My name is Victor, and welcome to the podcast "Mirror Within." Today, I'll share a meditation called "Back from the Future," aimed at grounding myself before starting the day. Drawing inspiration from various sources, this practice helps me stay true to my character and respond thoughtfully to situations.
Currently, I have an art show, showcasing my work, including paintings of my daughters and a tribute to Dambudzo Marechera, a remarkable Zimbabwean writer. As an artist and manager, maintaining emotional balance is crucial. I share my surroundings, emphasizing the importance of being transparent about my emotional state with colleagues.
The meditation is a vital part of my daily routine, conducted in the early morning. It begins with observing my thoughts and feelings without judgment. This awareness forms the basis for understanding my emotional, mental, and spiritual state throughout the day.
Acknowledging any anxiety or irritability, I communicate this to my team, fostering a healthy work environment. This transparency eliminates ambiguity, making interactions more comfortable. The meditation's purpose is to ground me, ensuring I respond thoughtfully to challenges rather than react impulsively.
The meditation involves scanning my emotional landscape, noting any discomfort, and overriding it with affirmations of who I want to be. I focus on qualities like joy, engagement, and inspiration. By envisioning my future self embodying these traits, I bring those qualities back to the present.
Returning to the present, I celebrate the positive aspects I've envisioned and take a deep breath, expressing gratitude for the interconnectedness of life. This meditation emphasizes the power of being enough and encourages viewers to adopt a similar practice for a more balanced and intentional life.

SEA#2 EPI#7 Ai and the artist.
This episode reflects on the capabilities of Artificial intelligence (AI) in the realms of motional capacity, comprehension, and analytic deduction.
I fed the poem below into an AI model and prompted it to analyze and summarize the poem. The results were very astounding. The poem I wrote is below. The Ai analysis is in this https://youtu.be/yjlmlOz7ayg
"My pain" If you poke me with a stick, that is pain you Bring on me If you strike me with your hand, that is pain You bring on me I must walk away. If you cause pain to arise within me That is pain I own and bring upon Myself I must revisit my garden of joy And see which flower deters the bees Make it pleasant while I risk the sting of the bee So that the bee and flower Can transform interaction into life My pain is therefore mine. I choose to use it To tell myself and those who are directly part of myself, a tale of who I am and where I am So they may understand and learn to unlock my door. The key is curiosity, the turn of it is “Why do you say so, why do you think so?” This will gently reveal the wound And not yank off the band-aid Through all this, my duty is to remember The pain from within is mine. I have the choice to feel it, deal with it, and return to my garden of joy, transmute the pain Into beauty like the lotus does Or to allow the beast within to run amock Victor Mavedzenge 2023

SEA#2 EPI#5 - The power of attention and love
When I first heard this story, it struck me at my core, touched the deepest aspect of my humanity, and made me realize the importance of attention and love.
Below is a version of the story.
The Story of Teddy Stallard, by Elizabeth Silance Ballard
There is a story many years ago of an elementary teacher. Her name was Mrs. Thompson. And as she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children a lie. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. But that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.
Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he didn't play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. And Teddy could be unpleasant.
It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big F at the top of his papers.
At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last.
However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.
Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners ... he is a joy to be around."
His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well-liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle."
His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best but his father doesn't show much interest and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken."
Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and sometimes sleeps in class."
By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's.
His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a grocery bag. Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing and a bottle that was one quarter full of perfume.
But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist.
Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs. Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to."
After the children left she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching reading, and writing, and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children. Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy.
As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her "teacher's pets."
A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.
Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.
Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college.....Read the rest here- www.snopes.com

I started using bleach as a medium almost exclusively some twenty years ago (1997). For me it was as a Eureka moment and I haven’t looked back. Eureka, because of the golden splash of colors and hues it has given me to work with and as I sat down, (I actually sat down), it seemed the color of my future.
Most artists use tools of choice to reach out to touch others with a set of truths or beliefs and feelings about a universal is-ness as it is known to the artist. It is that way for me.
I use a bamboo skewer to apply bleach to black paper which continues to blow me away as I see the results unfold.
In 1994 I was informed by a friend that the state of California was named because a black Amazon queen named Califia who ruled the island of California which lay ‘just west of the Territorial Paradise’. Little was known of America in those days but subsequent studies have shown California was an island millions of years ago but shifting tectonic plates shoved the island against the continental mass and helped form the Big valley’ and the Sierra mountains.
