When you’ve been OOO for a few days to a few weeks, things can pile up. Emails keep coming in, projects and constituent requests coming through and reconciling your receipts need to happen (if you’ve gone on a business trip). In this episode, I share 6 tips (I realized three of them are external and there are internal) that can help you move from overwhelm to content and productive in a matter of days. 1. Tell your boss that you’re catching up and talk about priorities. 2. Take one thing at a time. 3. Their emergency isn’t my emergency. 4. Take care of yourself and get enough sleep. 5. Take a deep breath, roll your shoulders back and repeat a mantra that everything is okay. 6. Make sure to take breaks and go outside (if possible) during your workday. Follow me on Instagram @missymscott to learn more about what I do and to get on my email list if you’d like more tips like these right to your inbox!
We’ve all been there. At a crappy 9 - 5, that maybe doesn’t pay us as much as we’re worth, where your boss doesn’t understand you, where you wonder every single day where on Earth did your colleagues come from because they are the WORST and you imagine what life would be like if you were literally anywhere else but this job.
Then you realize something else is happening.
The Holidays are coming up and if you haven’t already been going to parties, you’re about to. Whether you’re spending time with friends or family inevitably someone is going to ask you how your job is going. If you HATE your job, what the heck are you going to say?
Are you going to be honest and maybe look like you’re complaining?
Are you going to lie and say that everything is fabulous but want to throw up when you’re saying it because it is so inauthentic to how you really feel about it?
Maybe you started your own business and it’s a little woo woo and your parents/family are NOT woo woo at all and you’re wondering how to tell them that you left your stable 9-5 to pursue your passion.
How are you going to tell the story of what you do?
Telling the story.
Steps you can take to craft a career story even when you’re unhappy in your current job:
1. Think of the Positives
2. Think of the Frustrations
4. Digging Deep on the Frustrations
5. Spin it!
6. Share it

In this week's episode we talk about the fine line that exists between being patient and overbearing when in your job search. We often get stuck between the two while we're at work, in life, and in the job search.
After listening to this episode, think about these questions:
- There’s a very fine line in the job search of being patient and persistent vs needy and overbearing. What side have you fallen on in the past?
- If you’ve been overbearing, what are some ways you can get into a headspace that allows you to remain calm and collected when in that weird job limbo phase? Journal it out.

Breathwork has changed my life. Yes, breathing a 3-part breath a few times per week has changed my life. I did a pause from Social Media this week and didn't get anything out of it until I did the breathwork and then the real shit hit the fan! In this pod, I go through everything that came up for me, what I'm working on and how I'm moving forward. There are action items for you to follow if you wish:
For this week, notice the internal dialogue that you’re saying to yourself. Is she nice? Is she mean? How can you be kinder to yourself and to other people?
Really tune in to how you’re feeling when making decisions. Do you make them from your heart or from your head? Can you tell the difference? Take a pause and really breathe into the decision to let your intuition take the lead. What is going to make you happy in this moment and decide from that place.
Is the universe constantly sending you messages that you’re not listening to? Have you been listening to these nudges? What are they and how are you going to take one action step toward this sign?
