An Arrow can only be Shot by Pulling it Backward. So Just Focus, and Keep Aiming
An Arrow Can Only Be Shot by Pulling it Backward. So Just Focus, and Keep Aiming What is going on my Facebook friends this is Dr. Mike Chua physical therapist and certified dementia practitioner. Well, I just finished walking around our little neighborhood here. And I was just listening to some podcasts and some shows and he talked about the life is just like an arrow. We're in if you want to hit that arrow really well, you just have to pull that arrow really farther. And then once you aimed it, once you've aimed it and released it, boom, that arrow will just go forward real good. I just want to encourage you guys. If you are having a hard time in your life right now, if you're having difficulties, if you're having problems with your life, marriage life, financial life, and emotional life work-wise. Guess what? The farther the pull, the stronger you're going to go for there. That's my special encouragement for you today. Go out there, accept the pull, accept the challenge. And the bigger the challenge, the bigger the victory. And that's my special quick encouragement for you today guys. I wish you all the best. I'm going to go in, enjoy time with my family, watch some Showtime – it's in the Philippines. It's a show that me and my wife watch all the time. Shout out to Vice Ganda is the host of that show. Well anyway, I wish you all the best and always remember when you're feeling a pull in your life, whether it's your work, in your life, in your marriage life, in your financial life and everything, anything – the longer the pool, the further you're going to go. The bigger the challenge, the bigger the victory. Sometimes we will encounter some stumbling blocks but those stumbling blocks are created for your stepping stone. Those setbacks are actually made up for you're set up for your next success. I wish you all the best. And always remember the word fast – FAST. First is letter F, find friends that will push you to your next level. Remember those friends that pushes you, pulls you, boom when once it's released. They'll push you to your next level. Letter A. You got to learn how to take action. All this stuff that we're doing. I do live videos in my private group. I do live videos in some paid group but all these videos if you're not taking action, it's not going to do you good. Stop analyzing and start taking action. The next letter, letter S? You’ve got to learn how to shoot for the moon. Why? If you miss it, you're going to be eventually landing with the stars. Keep shooting, keep shooting. What's the last letter? Letter T. You got to learn how to teach it. Why? Because when you hear it you forget, when you see it you remember. But when you're actually teaching it, you're actually understanding it more. Speaking of teaching, we are teaching what we call a masterclass. Wherein we're teaching people how to be the best that they can be. It's a weekly class that we do. We call it Monday Masterclass Training (MMT.) If you're a therapist, you know what MMT means. It’s a masterclass training when I go live every Monday teaching you what I've been learning from all my coaches. I've paid thousands of dollars from my coaches, business coach, life coach, whatever coach that I have been paying. I paid them thousands of dollars just to learn from them about marketing, learning, from them about dementia learning, from them about how to start your own business and how to be influential in your area. That's what I've been doing and I'm going to teach you how to do that in our Monday Masterclass Training. Be Awesome. Be great. Be excellent. Always remember, the stronger the pull the farther you'll go. See you later. Bye-bye.

What is your VISION for this year my friends?
What is your VISION for this year my friends? It’s 2020 This is Dr. Mike Chua again physical therapist and certified dementia practitioner and I am your alternative career. I haven't been doing live lately because we've been so busy with the New Year Christmas time and everything. I wanted to put out there, what is your vision for this year my friends? It's a nice year, it's called 2020, you know what 2020 means? It's 2020 vision and when your vision is really nice and perfect, its 20-20. What is your vision? I'm breaking down what vision is. First letter is letter “V”. You got to learn how to you think being a VICTOR. You got to learn how to start thinking like a victor, stop thinking like a victim. Everybody can feel like a victim but today is the year 2020 you got to start thinking like a victor, start thinking that you're winning. Next letter, letter “I” INFORMATION. There is so much information out there and you just keep getting those information but what I want you to do is you got to take action. You got to take action so get all the information in the world that you can; you watch YouTube, take all the courses but you got to take action. The next letter, letter “S”. You got to learn how to have SYSTEM in place. You'll learn how to plan. Speaking of planning, I have a planner, I write down my stuff.  We have this caregiver freedom journal you can write down on that journal. You got to learn how to plan. You got to learn how to have system because without system in place, you fail to plan, you plan to fail. The next letter, letter “I” is ONLY YOU, ONLY ME can change the situation. I can blame all the people, I can blame the government, I can blame my wife, I could blame the company I work for but only you can change that perfect vision that you want to have. The next letter, letter “O.” There are so much OPPORTUNITIES out there, just open up your eyes, just like a perfect vision. Open up your eyes, you've got all these opportunities out there – side hustle, entrepreneurship, extra job out there. Go out there, look out for that opportunities. You have to have an open mind. Your mind is just like a parachute, it will not work if you don't open. So look up open up those opportunities. The next letter, letter “N” saying “NO”. You’ve got to learn to say “No” to all this stuff that you're seeing right now in order for you to be able to say “Yes” in the future that you're going to have. Learning how to say “No,” it's not bad to say “No.” You have to learn how to say “No” in order for you to get the “Yes” in the future. Let’s go ahead and recap. Letter “V” stop thinking like a victim and start thinking like a victor. Letter “I” get all the information that you can get  but you got to take action because like what I said too much information is too bad. You got to learn how to take action. Letter “S” system. You have to have system in place. And letter “I” only I, only you can change this vision that you have for your life. Letter “O” opportunities. Open up your mind for all the opportunities out there. And letter “N” saying “No.” This is going to be big 2020 but the bigger the challenge, the bigger the victory and I wish all the best and happy 2020 and hopefully I can do more live videos but I'll see you around. God bless you and VISION.

Happy Holidays from the Chua family!
Happy Holidays from the Chua family!  First of all, Happy, Happy Holidays! Today is Sunday, December the 22nd. It's around 4:45 Central Standard Time. I would like to greet everybody a Happy, Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas to every one of you! But before I let you go, I wanted to talk about the acronym of the Holiday, what is the holiday? We will break it down.   Letter H, it says Happiness is a choice. You got to learn how to choose, you got to learn how to be happy. And this is what my wife's been telling me, because sometimes I come home I'm really tired and everything and when I get home, I'm just tired. And then she would always tell me "Hey dad, happiness is a choice." So, you got to learn how to choose happiness because today or this holiday season is the time. The time to be festive, the time to be happy.   Next Letter O, have an Open mind. It's a new year. It's a decade, it's about to be finished. And it's a new year, it's going to be 2020, you have to have an open mind to get new opportunities, new challenges in life.   Next letter L. You got to learn how to Love, Live, and Learn.  Next letter I. You got to learn how to Improve. Improve yourself. Improve your impact, you're influencing your community, influencing your area, influencing your job, influencing whatever you're doing. Because if you are the same person last month, guess what? It's the same. You can learn how to improve and how to develop your new skills.   Next letter D, you got to learn how to Develop. Develop new habits. If you are doing the same thing again and again, guess what it's called insanity. If you want to develop new successes in life, you got to learn how to develop new habits.   Next letter A, you got to learn how to take ACTION, all the things that we're doing if you're not taking action, guess what, you're not going to improve.   Last but not the least, letter Y. Only YOU can make this happen. Only you can make this better for you.   That's my special acronym for you today. Alternative Careers Group, Facebook, friends, and everybody out there. Again, Happy, Happy holidays! From my family to yours. And I wish you all the best.

The poorest nation in the world is procrastiNATION. The richest nation in the world is imagiNATION. The best part is you get to choose your citizenship. Tom Ziglar
This is Dr. Mike Chua, physical therapist and certified dementia practitioner and yes, I am your alternative career coach. I haven't been going live on my own personal page but I've been very busy with my group called alternative careers group for the rehab professionals. Well anyway, first of all, I'd like to say hi and hello to all my friends. They're here in the States, in the Philippines, and all over the world. Second, yesterday I went to state training to be a provider for the department of intellectual disabilities. So basically, we're going to be providing therapy services to the intellectually disabled people here in Tennessee, I had to train to be trained and instead of me training people, I was the one being trained. But it was such an exciting day for me yesterday.   There were diverse people there, there was an African, American guy, the actual trainer is from India and it was just a diverse culture and at one point, I told somebody in that group that I came from a poor country. And just this morning, I saw a post from Tom Ziglar, one of the guys that I follow. He's really an awesome guy, the son of Zig Ziglar. And he said, we live in two nations, the poorest nation is not your country. The first nation is the Procrasti-NATION and the richest country is actually the Imagi-NATION. I hope you get that thing there.   We are not from a poor country. I came from the Philippines. We are technically not from a poor country. And here in America, they say this is the richest country in the world or this is not the richest country in the world. It is actually Imagi-NATION, I hope you got that. If you are continually procrastinating, guess what, you're going to be really poor; poor in your finances, poor in your mind, poor in your health, poor in everything. But if you have that imagination, you're imagining all the time, you're trying to level up yourself. You're trying to be better. You're trying to be awesome. Guess what? Guess what? Guess what? You're going to be the richest person in the world. That's my special challenge for today. You can choose your nationality, you can choose your citizenship, just like what Tom said. Choose to be in that Imagi-NATION citizenship. I hope I make justice in that hole there.   Alright, have a great day! Be Awesome. Be great, Be excellent.

Happy Anniversary to my Beautiful Wife Puppen Chua. So how do you become an awesome wife? Be like Puppen
This is Dr. Mike Chua, your physical therapist and certified dementia practitioner, and aside from me being your alternative career coach, I am the husband of Puppen Chua. I'm taking my wife, it's our anniversary today. I bought her flowers last night, bought her a perfume, and she said she’d go to just return it. But anyway, I just wanted to, of course, obviously greet my wife, who is my wife for almost 20 years now. I put there above “How do you become an awesome wife?”, “How do you become a better wife to your husband?” Follow the word PUPPEN; P-U-P-P-E-N. So, how do you become an awesome and a wonderful wife? First, you need to be letter P, you have to be Passionate. You got to be passionate about your relationship. You have to be passionate about your love to your husband. My wife, she's very passionate. When I come home, she would sometimes surprise me and she’s very passionate about our love. In the next letter, letter U, you have to be Understanding. She’s the most understanding person in the world, whatever I want to do, she would understand and support me. If you want to be an awesome and supportive wife, you got to be understanding. You got to learn how to understand your husband. You got to support him in whatever he does, well, of course, the positive things that he does, right? Letter P, you got to be Positive. How can husband go home, he’s stressed out in his job, stressed out in his business, stressed out in his own life, and he’ll come home with a negative wife, negative nagging wife? Guess what, He doesn’t want to go home. He wants to come home to a positive, uplifting wife, who will bring out the best in him. Next letter P, another letter P. You got to be Productive. If you’re a wife, obviously you are the best. You’re a wife and a mother, you’re the most productive person in the world. My wife, imagine that, she runs her business. She has her own business. It’s a full-time gig and she’s a mother of three. And a full-time husband to me, imagine that, handling Mike Chua, right? It's going to be really, really hard. Next letter E, you got to have the Energy. My wife has the best energy in the world. She’s the first person to wake up and the last person to sleep. This morning, I think she woke up around 5:30 and I already slept by around 10:00. And in 11:00, she’s still awake. You got to have the energy. How do you get the energy? You have to exercise. She’s exercising all the time. Last but not least, letter N. If you want to be an awesome mother, awesome wife, you have to learn how to say No to the things today, in order for you to be able to say yes to the things to tomorrow. So again, what are the best ways to be awesome as a wife? First, you got to be Passionate. The next letter is you got to be Understanding. Next letter P is Positive. Next letter P is Productive. Next letter E is Energy. You got to have energy. And last but not least you have to say no. My wife said no to a lot of stuff before, because she wanted to be with me and bring up the best in me. All right, have a great day. Be Awesome, be great, be excellent. And always remember the bigger the challenge, the bigger the victory. And to my wife, she’s watching or listening to Happy Anniversary. I love you very much.

If your dreams don’t inspire you and motivate you, then you need more powerful dreams. -Ranal Currie
This is Dr. Mike Chua, your physical therapist and certified dementia practitioner. And yes, I am your alternative career coach. Well anyway, I wanted to go live and talk about this awesome quote that I saw today from Ranal Curie, it says there, “If your dreams don’t inspire you and motivate you, then you need more powerful dreams.” So, how do you achieve your dream? How do you how do you get that dream? Basically, you wake up. If you are just dreaming and dreaming, you have to wake up. So, how do you wake up? Well, first of all, you open up your eyes. I broke down the ‘WAKE UP’ word; W-A-K-E-U-P. So, how do you wake up? First is letter W, Winner, you have to have a Winning mentality. If your dream is not a winning mentality, guess what? You’re not going to achieve that dream, right? Letter A, you got to take Action. I always preach this. You’ll learn how to take action, because if you are just analyzing and waiting for the next thing to come in, it’s not going to do you good. Next letter K, letter K is the Key to success. You have to find that key, in order for you to be able to go in through that door. You have to find the key. You have to learn how to put that key in and turn it in. What’s that key? The keys to wake up; keep waking up, in order for you to be able to achieve that dream. Next letter E, you’ll learn how to Encourage and Empower yourself. You can get all the motivation in the world, you can get all the books in the world, but if you don’t actually encourage yourself to do it yourself, it’s not going to do you good. I had to encourage myself today to go live, I didn't want to but I had to take action and encourage myself, “Hey, Michael, I got to go out, I got to do this.” And that way, I could be the best that I can be. You got to learn how to encourage yourself. Letter U, you have to be Uplifting. How can you be a better person? How can you achieve your dreams? How could people believe in your dreams, if you yourself is not having uplifting behavior, uplifting attitude? Last but not the least, letter P. You need to be Powerful. How can you be a good leader? How can you be a better person if you yourself is not powerful? I’m not talking about being strong and physically. I’m talking about being powerful in your mind, powerful in your heart, power in your spirit. So again, how do you achieve your dreams by waking up, by working up? By waking up; W-A-K-E-U-P, alright? W is Winner, you have to have a winning attitude. Letter A, got to take Action. Letter K, the Key to success. Letter E, Empower and Encourage. Letter U, Uplifting. And letter P, you need to be Powerful. All right, have a great day. Be Awesome, be great, be excellent.

How do you Level Up? Be like Jenna Kantor
How do you level up? My friend Jenna Kantor. She’s a physical therapist. She is actually a new graduate. I don’t know if she just graduated a year ago or what but, she’s just leveling up in her practice, in her life, and everything. How do you level up? Do the “Jenna Dance”. I don’t know if you’ve been following her, she’s all over the news doing this fairytale physical therapy wherein she provides physical therapy with kids. She’s just going different hospitals; she wears her frozen suit and she’s just providing awesome physical therapy and she’s just leveling up. How do you level up like Jenna? First is letter “J”. You have to JUST DO IT. She can analyze and everything —wait for the perfect timing, but all she did is she just level up. The next letter is “E”. She’s EDUCATING people, she’s EQUIPPING people, and she’s actually ENCOURAGING people to be better at the best that they can be. I don’t know if you’ve seen all of her videos, she’s been going out just encouraging people how to be awesome. Next letter is “N”. Letter “N” is NETWORK. She is actually networking with other people, networking in different events like “American Physical Therapy Association”; different associations. She’s just networking and that’s the key there. You have to learn how to network with another people. Next letter is “N”. Letter “N” is SAYING NO. She has said no on all the things that she’s done, in order for her to be able to say yes today. That’s what she’s been doing. She has to say no, in order for her to be able to say yes in the future. There was a story in her video that she had to say no, performing, while studying physical therapy— In that way she can say yes today to be a better physical therapist, or better person, better performer. The last letter is Letter “A”. Take ACTION. She’s a performer, she’s like this awesome performer in theater, or whatever she does and she’s just taking action all the time. Like what I always say: you can have your camera ready, you can have your lights ready. You know I have lights here; I can have my camera there in my cellphone. But if you don’t take action and click the action button, it’s not going to do you good. Again, have a great day. Remember the J.E.N.N.A First, is just do it. You just have to do it. It doesn’t have to be perfect. And then our “E”. You have to learn how to equip, empower, and encourage people. Letter “N”. You have to learn how to network. Network with the right people. You are the average of the 5 people you hang out with. If you’re hanging out with awesome people, you’re going be awesome. If you’re hanging out with mediocre people, you’re going to be mediocre. And the other letter “N”. Learning how to say no. You have to learn how to say no in order for you to be able to say yes in the future. And last but not the least, Letter “A”. Letter A is learning how to take action. And Always remember the word, FAST. You’re going to do everything fast right? Because you want to take actions fast. Stop analyzing, stop slowing down— take action fast. First is FIND FRIENDS, that will push you to your next level. Letter “A”, take action, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Just do it. Letter “S”, share and subscribe in this video. Share and subscribe in this channel. Share and subscribe in this podcast that we have right now. Another “S”, shoot for the moon because when you miss shooting the moon, you’re going to eventually land on the stars. Last but not the least is Letter “T”. You have to learn how to teach it. All this stuff that you’re learning, you have to learn how to teach it and that’s what Jenna Kantor was doing. She’s teaching stuff, she’s teaching people to be awesome.

6 Ways to Improve Your Influence
Meet a Need, Educate and Entertain, Networking, Team of Winners, One-on-one Coaching, Recurring Revenue How do you improve your influence? How do you improve your impact? How do you improve your income in your industry?  You improve your influence and impact by becoming a mentor.   How do you become a mentor?  We break it down, M, E, N, T, O, R.  Letter M. First, you have to MEET a need. How do you meet a need? You find your niche. In my case, my niche is Alzheimer’s and Dementia. I met a need by looking for a need.  Next is letter “E.” You have to learn how to EDUCATE. You have to learn to educate people and entertain. You have to learn how to entertain them by educating them. How do you educate? You educate by having a podcast, a show, a Youtube video, a course that you teach. You go out of the community and you teach about whatever niche or need that you want to provide.  The next letter is “N.” Letter “n” is NETWORKING. You have to learn how to network with people who are going to push you to the next level. Speaking of networking, my first network is my coach Bert de Veyra. The other networking that I attend is the SSPT. If you haven’t been to SSPT, you have to attend the Smart Success Physical Therapy. You have to attend that. If you are a PT, OT, speech or physician, you have to attend that awesome group of people called Smart, Success for Physical Therapists. It is not just for Physical Therapists, it is actually for awesome people. Speaking of networking, I just bought another course, got another coach. His name is Odell Bezel. You have to network with people. My next coach is a speaking coach. He is going to teach me how to be an awesome speaker. I have to level up and learn how to do the speaking business. Which I actually already do now – I speak, I talk, and I teach the Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia seminar every month. I still want to get a coach for me to learn to be better and do more. You need to find a coach that will push you to the next level.   Next is letter “T.” You have to find a TEAM of winners. You cannot scale your business, you cannot scale your program if you don’t have any team. Right now, I have a team of therapist, a team of assistants and a team of virtual assistant that helps me get out and be the best that I can be.  The next letter is letter “O.” ONE-TO-ONE coaching. If you want to be a mentor, if you want to improve your influence and impact, you have to learn how to coach people one-on-one. If you teach people on the group that is awesome which I am doing already in my Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia course. But I also do one-on-one coaching. If you want to be an awesome mentor, you have to learn to do one-on-one coaching and bring out the best in people that you are talking too.   The last letter is “R.” You have to find ways to have recurring or repeat revenue. How do you find recurring or repeat revenue? You sell a book, sell a course, sell something that is recurring like affiliate links thru Amazon. Buying real estate properties that pays you rent. You have to find repeat or recurring revenue.   That is my special tip for you today.

10 Years Challenge
I just finished working out and I wanted to go LIVE and I saw this 10-year challenge, and it's just amazing! All these people are posting their pictures 10 years ago. And then I also saw my picture 10 years ago. I saw my 2009 pictures, and I realize that I weigh more than 220 pounds now. :D Here's my challenge for you - Are you better now 10 years ago, or are you still the same? Are you better? Are you leveling up? If 10 years ago you're still the same, you have to level up and push yourself to the next level. Get out of your comfort zone.

Life Is A Game - Zeyah Chua
Today we have our very special guest, my daughter, Zeyah Chua "Life is like a game. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose.  Those are the only two options you can do, it’s either winning or losing. Being in the 3rd place is part of losing and winning. Losing because you lost the opportunity to be the best and winning because at least you made it after working so hard You don’t need to be upset because of losing, you should be grateful." says Zeyah Chua A failure is just an event. "It may back you down but it gives you an encouragement to pull yourself back up." Her first live video titled “You should be the driver of your life”, that was also a part of Life is a Game because "you need to know when to turn the correct way so consequences won’t happen."

When You ACT, You Attract
What kind of A. C. T. I. O. N. are you taking today? Is it good or bad? In life, we like to analyze things but sometimes we get caught in analysis-paralysis situation. In order for you to take the results that you want, you have to take action. And every time you are taking that action, you are attracting success in life. My special challenge for you today is, TAKE ACTION! It doesn't have to be perfect. Alex and Will on their lecture said, " In perfect action beats perfect inaction." You just have to take a little bit of action, a little bit of risk. In that way, you can achieve that next dream that you're wanting to achieve. Get the Caregiver's Freedom Journal here. How to F. O. C. U. S
I was a speaker on the Tennessee Healthcare Association. And a lady asked me how do I do the things that I do and I told her, it's just F. O. C. U. S. - Finish One Course Until Successful Most of the time we're like a squirrel looking left and right and we don't know what we're looking for. We just keep on getting that next Shining Object Syndrome. If you really want to be successful, learn to FOCUS- Finis One Course Until Successful and then find another thing to do. John Maxwell said on his podcast "Yes we need to have goals, but we also need a growth mindset." We always do this goal mindset and once we're done doing that goal we stop. I think we need what we need to do, according to John Maxwell, is to have a growth mindset. And that's what happens to us, whether you're a therapist or caregiver or nurse or medical rep at the Philippines back home, what I did before is I hit that goal and I stopped. When I pass the board exam 1999 for the Physical Therapy Board Exam, I stopped reading books. And that made me stagnant. But if you do a growth mindset, you're going to keep on growing, you're going to keep moving forward and being the best that you can be. Not only for yourself but also for your friends and family and for the people that surround you. Get the Caregiver's Freedom Journal here. Enroll in our new course - MisUnderstanding Dementia here.

You start with Y. O. U. R. S. E. L. F.
How do I change my loved ones? How do I change jobs? How do I? I learned this from my wife, “You cannot change somebody else until you change yourself first.” And that’s what she did! She wanted me to quit smoking. She wanted me to be a better person. And you know what my wife did, instead of changing me, she changed herself. You start with Y. O. U. R. S. E. L. F. Change YOU first! People can motivate you but your habit will keep you going. There’s this thing that says “Motivation can get you started, but habits keep you going.” People can motivate you but if you’re not doing it yourself and not creating a habit for yourself, it’s not going to do you good. Learn to become an OVERCOMER and OUTSTANDING PERSON How do you become an overcomer? Basically, t’s pushing yourself to the next level. Believing and being outstanding in everything that you do. Learn how to be UNDERSTANDING That’s what my wife did. She kept on understanding me in order for me to be able to change. If she didn’t understand me, I won’t be able to change. READ, READ and READ Read positive and uplifting books. There’s a reason why I don’t get a newspaper anymore because all I hear and see is negative news. And now I’m starting to read more inspirational books, obviously the BIBLE. At least a minimum of 10 pages of positive and uplifting books. In order to change yourself, you need to keep on reading. Because faith comes from reading and hearing and seeing. STOP BEING SELFISH When you’re selfish and just thinking about yourself, it’s just going to be you. You won’t change that person or you won’t change your job. ENERGY or ENTHUSIASM You have to have that enthusiasm of not only changing that person but also changing yourself. LEARN HOW TO LOVE Love yourself, love the people around you. In that way, you can be the best that you can be. FAITH You have to have faith. Faith in that person, faith in yourself, and obviously, faith in GOD. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. The evidence of things not yet seen. You may not see or you may not feel that change in that person. But if you’re changing yourself, you will eventually see that change in that person. That’s what faith is! Verbal and Non-Verbal Signs
How Do You Communicate? What do your non-verbal signs convey? Most of the time, I go to a patient, I come in, I show my verbal and non-verbal signs and it really works! What are these verbal signs that we're talking about? V.E.R.B.A.L V - VOICE What's your voice? Are you raising your voice up? lowering down your voice? Do you have a big voice? You have to know what kind of voice are you showing to your patients. Is it a good sounding voice? or is it a positive voice? You need to learn how to do that E - ENGAGING Are you engaging with your patient? Are you engaging or connecting with that person? R- REACTIVE Are you being reactive? We don't want to be reactive, we want to be PRO-ACTIVE. In the  Philippines, when I was working as a Medical Representative, we have this conference and we called it PRO-ACT. Basically, we are being pro-active with the plans that we have in life. So, we want to be pro-active instead of reacting. When we are talking to a person and we don't agree with their opinions, we try to be reactive. We don't want to be like that, we want to be pro-active. B- BODY LANGUAGE Are you putting your hands on your hip? Is your browse raising? What kind of body language are you showing? A - ASKING QUESTIONS Are you being interested or interesting? Most of the time, when we're talking we want to be interesting all about ourselves. But, you want to be interested in that person. L - LEARN HOW TO LOVE Love that person! You don't want to be lying, because who wants a lier? You want to be loving. You want to love that person! Learn how to love that person that you're talking to. Whether you're talking to a dementia patient, you're talking to an interviewer to look for another job, do these techniques. Verbal and Non-Verbal signs! Get the Caregiver's Freedom Journal here. Tell me I Forget, Teach me I Remember, Involve me, I Understand
I attended a certification course called Certified Online Training Professional. One of the Speaker there said, “Tell me I Forget, Teach me I Remember, Involve me, I Understand” something like that. Same thing with our Dementia patient. And I just realized that, if you’re telling a patient or a person that has Dementia and you’re telling, you’re telling, you’re telling that, they’ll forget that. Teach them, they’ll remember it but if you involve them in the activity, involve them in the staff that you’re trying to do they’ll understand it. I know some patients can’t understand it because they have problems in Dementia, but in general, in life, this is what we need to do anyway. If you’re telling somebody a procedure, they’ll probably forget that. But if you teach them how to do it, what to do it, they’re probably going to remember it. When you involve them and let them do it on themselves they going to understand that. And that’s the purpose of this group, this page, wanting for you to understand Dementia, and that is why it’s called MisUnderstanding Dementia. And I want you to understand more, not only the dementia process, not only the dementia disease but understand yourself more. “Tell me I Forget, Teach me I Remember, Involve me, I Understand”! Daily Dementia Dose: Change Your Words, You Change Your World
Change Your Words, You Change Your World Today, I'm thankful for our vehicles, our cars, I am going to take it to Walmart to get the oil changed. I'm still thankful for it because we have a vehicle to drive to and from work. Number two that I am grateful for is my kids and number three is Walmart. That attitude of gratitude is very important. The other day, I went to a nursing home and saw a patient. She was complaining about her life, she was complaining about everything. That she was so weak right now and she just had a surgery. When I did my special test and manual muscle testing, and testing all those physical therapy tests, she was actually not weak. She was just saying that she was weak. I told her to change her words. I asked her to tell me how strong she is. She told me that she was just weak. And I told her a bible verse - "Let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich." I came from a poor country. Do I look like poor to you?

Daily Dementia Dose: Attitude of Gratitude
Attitude of Gratitude Yesterday I just received the copy of our Caregiver Freedom Journal. It's a very quick journal that You can write down on everyday for 60 days. You can write down in the attitude of gratitude journal and we have an inspirational quote for caregivers at the top of the pages. Today I wrote down what I am grateful for and in 60 days I will accomplish whatever my goal is. I am grateful for my family, my job, my business and you guys. I'm going to do this everyday and in that way, you can focus on the good and you can focus on gratitude that we can have everyday. The more you focus on the good, the more you attract the goodness. There is what you call the reticular activating system in the brain. It's a part of your brain wherein whatever you focus on will get magnified.

Daily Dementia Dose: How to handle conflict?
How to handle conflict? Conflict is always there. If you have a dementia patient or a loved one with this condition, there will always be conflict and argument. Even Jesus Christ himself said, “I come into this world not to give peace, but to come and give trials and tribulation.” Conflict is always there. What you need is to know how to handle it. The first thing you need to do is to accept the fact that there’s always conflict in this world. Accept the fact that there will always be a misunderstanding. Especially when you are taking care of a dementia patient. Second is identifying the source of the conflict. What is the cause of their behavior? Why are they mad? Why are they upset? Why are they irritated? It could be a physical problem, an emotional problem. It could be that they are just irritated because they are uncomfortable. The third is learning how to embrace and to know, and learn from the actual conflict itself.
