MLU Level 61: 2005ish
On Level 61 of My Little Underground, Peter A takes a trip back 15 years to 2005 to discuss some of the great tunes that came out that year and well they have aged. He'll discuss interesting singles such as the ubiquitous "We Belong Together" from Mariah Carey, the eternal party anthem, "Pon de Replay" from Rihanna and one of the best album intros, "Extraordinary Machine" from Fiona Apple. The south definitely had something to say in 2005 with Jeezy's 'Thug Motivation 101' creating the foundation of the Atlanta trap sound that dominates hip hop today. MLU Level 57: 2010
On Level 57 of My Little Underground, Peter A discusses some great albums from 2010 and if they aged well ten years later! 2010 seemed to be the year of the black genre bender with albums from Janelle Monae, Kid Cudi, Drake & B.o.B all blending elements of many genres including soul, r&b, swing, hip-hop, pop and indie-rock. MLU Level 7 - Keishh
Level 7 of My Little Underground features Brooklyn based producer, Keishh! We talked about her recent trip to SXSW, touring with Tune-Yards, producing for artists like Miss Eaves and ET.PAT. We also chatted about her musical upbringing and the difference between beat maker and producer. MLU Level 6 - A Place To Bury Strangers
Level 6 of My Little Underground features New York veteran noise-rockers, A Place To Bury Strangers! Their fifth album Pinned is out now and we talked about how they want to evolve creativly, legal issues faced by DIY performance spaces, and building their own studio. I tried my hardest to get them to verbalize their process in creating such an explosive on-stage experience. I also had an interesting run in with New York rising stars, Giants at a Long Island garage show.
